Monorail Upgrade Warning

So how do you get from the TTC to MK more than 15 minutes before RD since the ferry starts 30 mins prior to park opening?

On-site WDW resort guests take Disney buses directly to the MK gates area.

There should also be special buses running from TTC to the MK gates when the monorail is down.

(BTW, I'm not so sure that the ferry boats begin running only 30 minutes before MK opening time.)

Well, to be blunt, this happened all the dang time anyway. The monorail is just too old at this point. It would break down quite consistently and has been for years now. To the point that there is no way I would have trusted it to get me somewhere if it was time sensitive.

I have found that is always a good idea to keep an extra $20 on hand, for a taxi. If the lines are too long you can always walk over to the closest taxi stand.

I agree also, and good idea. Especially, back and forth to the water parks.

Thanks I figured they were ramping-up the ferries and doing other things to get off-site guest to MK earlier. I just hadn't heard anything "officially"

What would be the best option for making EMH at either MK or EP from the Grand Floridian? We will be there in Sept. Are there extra buses running in the morning from the monorail resorts?

OMG, I have no idea what you people are talking about. I was at the Poly 4th of July week and the monorails were always on time. We made rope drop each day and the monorail ran each night one hour past posted park closing. I was there in January and the monorail was running a limited schedule during the middle of the day. I even asked CM's about this when we arrived last week and I wad told they would be on a regular running schedule. My biggest complaint were all of the people not staying in a monorail resort using the resort line to return to the TTC instead of the express line.

That's a standard procedure when the monorail is out of service.

I thought the schedule reduction just happened. Plus, if you're not doing rop drop with morning EMH to Epcot or MK, then you wouldn't notice the reduced schedule. The monorails are still supposed to start 30 minutes before regular park opening, just not EMH opening time.

They didn't have the limited hours around the 4th due to the crowds

It was announced some time ago the monorail would be running later in the morning for maintenance. July 3rd-5th, those hours were extended due to crowd levels.

There has been no end date announced for the diminished monorail hours.

Well, now it sounds like it really needs maintenance, so maybe I should stop complaining. Praying everyone who was trapped today is ok physically and emotionally.

If it was a lightning strike as currently reported, maintenance wasn't a factor in this case.

help! How would I get from the Poly to an early breakfast in the Magic Kingdom at 8:05 when the park opens at 9am? The boats don't start until 8:30 or did they move them up to accommodate the monorail work?

They will provide either bus or boat to MK that early, probably bus. I am confident they will provide some kind of transportation for guests in your situation--it happens many times daily.

Wondering the same thing...anyone?? :)

For both of those parks early or late the buses are running from the monorail resorts to get you there. Wasn't really a problem. I believe boats also run early and I know they run late.
