Monkees Davy Jones dies of heart attack

....wish he would have been MY prom date....:sad1:

:sad1: Very sad news. He died at his home in Indiantown, Florida, which is about 30 minutes from where I live. It's out in the boonies.

ETA: Just read some local news. He was actually taken to the hospital (where my mom used to work and is also right next to my son's school) where Davy was pronounced dead. I drove by that hospital twice today dropping off and picking up DS from school.

I also cried today when I heard the news. He was my first childhood crush. Rest in Peace Davy thank you for the wonderful childhood memories. :sad1:

:sad1:

I just found out about Davy Jones-so sad.

I remember watching the Monkees reruns with my brothers and sisters when I was little. I loved that show.

I would always notice that Davy would have a concert on Mother's Day weekend at Epcot. One year I purposely planned our family vacation over Mother's Day in the hopes of seeing him. I was not happy when I learned that he was not performing in May that year.

I still really, really wanted to see his concert. I finally just went ahead and flew down to Orlando for a long weekend-pretty much just to see Davy Jones- in 2010. We got great seats right up front. Half of my pictures are blurry because the man just did not stop moving. It was a great show and I am so thankful that I got to see it.

I'm so, so sad. Darling, adorable Davy - he was one of my very first crushes also.

R.I.P., Davy Jones. Thanks for the joy, laughter, and memories. :sad1:

Count me in as someone who had a crush on him:love: and I loved the monkees show. Thanks for the great memories and songs Davy we'll miss you:sad1: Mary

Daydream Believer came on the radio as I was driving home from work, and I started crying like a baby. I guess a girl never forgets her first love, even if she was 5 at the time.

Like so many of us, I'm so grateful that I had the opportunity to see him up close and personal at Epcot a few years ago. It's a memory I've always treasured, even more so now.

Davy... :lovestruc

Got to see him and Peter and Mickey for The Monkees reunion tour last summer. Great show. I will miss him.

It seems like he was the first crush of a lot of us "girls" here on the DIS. I was upset that we were going to miss him by 1 or 2 nights at EPCOT...we are arriving after the concert series are over. :(

here's another..I can see some of us being right up there (me included)

I can't believe how spooky this is but...this morning at work I was talking to a co-worker. She is going to WDW with her family in 30 days. I told her I was going in May & would get to see Peter Noone (I am a life-time member of his fan club) & Davy Jones. She called me a couple of hours later and asked, "Did you hear the news"? Of course I hadn't and immediately went on line to read it for myself!

Now if that isn't spooky enough, I was home tonight sorting thru paperwork & files and what do I run across? An autographed photo of Peter Noone, Davy Jones, & Bobby Sherman! I won this autographed photo when I attended the 1st annual Noonefest at Penn's Peak, PA in 2010. (This is an annual shindig that Peter puts on for members of his fan club. We're all known as Noonatics! LOL)

Peter Noone & Davy Jones were very good friends and often performed together. If any of you have kids that watch Phineas & Ferb, there was an episode where a couple of rock stars performed at a fair. They sang a song called "Meatloaf". The two rock stars were, none other, than Peter Noone & Davy Jones. Here's the link. I hope it works.

Peter just left the USA for a 3 month concert tour in England and won't be back until he's to appear at Epcot. Davy was following him the next week-end as the grand finale to the Flower Power concerts.

RIP, Davy! We will miss you! :sad1:

The View showed a clip from his appearance in July & I started crying, too. Yes, he was my first love. This is the first celebrity death that makes me feel old, like my generation is dying now. Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, John Belushi, I feel like they did things to contribute to their deaths. This was just nature. It is hitting me hard. I will never be "Mrs. Davy Jones". :sad1:

May his loved ones find comfort knowing how much he meant to so many.
