Moms to be Part 4

Renee - I'm so sorry for your loss.

WDW - I only washed 2 outfits that we were debating bringing DD home in for the same reasons you are waiting. Both outfits are the newborn size, but one was quite a bit bigger than the other, and still doesn't fit DD at 2 weeks old yet. When we got home from the hospital and we were sure she was a girl and knew her size, I washed everything else in the 0-3 month size (with DH's help). Most of it still doesn't fit yet, but with DS, he was bigger and it fit him right away. We also organized all of the other baby clothes by size (we have tons already!) so it will be easier to throw a batch in the washer when she outgrows the next size.

skuttle - yay for getting the nursery ready, the pictures by your older DS sound so cute! We used Avent with DS3, and are using new Avent with DD. So far so good. I heard somewhere before we bought the bottles that the white Avent bottles leak less than the yellow ones, so we bought those. Target sometimes has really good sales on them - even they're regular price is better than BRU's sale price. Buy Buy Baby will also price match if you bring in a competitor's add.

sunlover - my DH wasn't cooperating with a name for the longest time either, than after we did the 3D u/s, he just got with it and started caring about her having a name. Has your DH seen any u/s yet? When my DH was refusing to discuss names, I started telling him I would pick by myself if he didn't start giving input. ;)

sunlover13: I think it depends at what your dr is going to do. With mine, the NST only takes about 20 minutes and doesn't involve an us. The only thing my DH would do is sit with me and be able to hear her heartbeat. He hasn't come with me yet, but might next monday. I think it all depends on what you want to do, but if you're NST is like mine, your DH might get a little bored. Just my opinion though. :)

Thanks! I guess I'll let him decide........ Or, who knows if we will have a babysitter and they don't like kids at the office.

Buy Buy Baby will also price match if you bring in a competitor's add.

Oooh! Didn't know about the price-match, good to know.

Yep, I did threaten him that he will have no say if he doesn't decide soon. I don't want to be talking about it at the hospital.

He has seen ultrasounds, no 3D ones though.

I think he is just more picky about a name then I am and hasn't found one that really screams at him. I gave him my list and he likes some of them, just isn't crazy about one yet. :confused3

With my daughter, we were still discussing the name while I was in labor. He was being really stubborn with the middle name. Funny thing was, after I went through everything I did with labor, all I had to do was look up at him and say "her middle name will be Katherine" and he said "ok".

That's too funny. We also are still debating a middle name. Her first name is Shaylee - and that's sticking around, I already have several personalized gifts for her :) We had originally planned on Isabella...but only because that was what DD wanted and now she doesn't really care. We talked about Shaylee Isabella Rose - but DH doesn't want 2 middle names. So I'm thinking maybe Shaylee Rose or Shaylee Belle, but it's really still up in the air.

Well I had my 2nd shower last night. It is so overwhelming how generous people can be. This is baby #2, but older DD will be 7 when the baby gets here so there is a rather large gap.....I still felt a little funny initially. We have received so many nice gifts and really only have a few things left that we need. Of course now I need to figure out what that is. Fortunately those first few months they don't need much :) The only thing I can think of that is even slightly pressing is bassinet sheets. It's a given that I need at least one spare, preferably 2. Oh...and I need to break down and buy a breast pump. I had considered just renting, but costwise it's cheaper to buy one AND the hospital said they don't always have rentals available. I will need that sooner rather than later because I'm going to try and build up a stash while I'm out on maternity leave. It was always day to day with dd and was so stressful.

I go to the doctor in the morning and I am so excited to see how big she is now.

I had my 23 week appointment yesterday morning, and, other than being stuck in the waiting room for 45 minutes, everything is going great. I had another ultrasound before my appointment, and everything on the baby measured in the normal range. They estimated that the baby weighs 1 pound, 3 ounces now! I'm feeling little movements most days, so that is pretty exciting too.

My DH and I are leaving for Disney on Friday, and when we get back we will start actually buying the baby stuff. IKEA is on the way home from the airport so we may even begin the shopping there on the way home from vacation.

On names, what does everyone think about a first and last name starting with the same letter? Our first choice girl's name starts with the same letter as my DH's last name -- is that silly? They have different numbers of syllabels, so I don't think it sounds weird, but I want to know what other people think. Right now I think Thomas (Tommy) is our first choice boys name, and Zoe for a girl. We have 4 months, so that could totally change. For middle names, I like Phillip, Timothy, Lousie, and Sara.

:rotfl2: That's what I told him. If he doesn't agree to a name before the hospital, he will have no say.

I know a lot of my friends sell their breast pumps on craigslist. You just buy new guards or shields or whatever they are called. Might be worth getting a used one if you don't mind or even asking friends / co-workers who might be interested in selling one.

Have a great trip!

As far as names with the same first letter, doesn't phase me at all. In fact, I'm not one who cares what the middle name sounds like with the first name either.

See, I went to my dr appt today (22 weeks tomorrow) and I told my doctor I wasn't feeling the baby move much. He told me that was okay because I was only 22 weeks. Plus, every ultrasound the baby has been very laid back and (to borrow a phrase from my students) "chill". I'm still bothered and a little nervous I don't feel her much (pretty much at all). I can find her and when I poke her, she gets mad and moves, but that's it.

I did find out I have to do an ultrasound every 6 weeks due to IBD and the risk of the baby being malnourished. He told me they were called growth ultrasounds.

We were thinking of going to Disney this weekend too, but it is completely sold out! We decided that is too busy for my pregnant butt!

Hello!!

Okay, so I may be a new member around here! :cool1: Just popping my head in for a moment.

I had my positive HPT this week and had my blood drawn today to confirm. I will have my very first appointment with the Doc on Tuesday (just need to switch work days). I must admit things happened a bit faster than anticipated but we feel overall happy. :goodvibes

I will come back and introduce myself more after my first appointment when things are pretty much confirmed. I just couldn't help but want to say Hi!! DH and I will not be telling any family or friends until I manage to make it out of the first trimester.

Thanks for the bottle info. I've heard about the Dr. Browns bottles, but I'm not sure I want to deal with the extra parts if I don't have to. Still have time to decide. :)

lspst...I don't think having the first and last name start with the same letter is a big deal. Enjoy your WDW trip! With DS we went to WDW right before our ultrasound so I didn't know what we were having. I was able to find a few gender neutral things, but it's not much, which I guess was a good thing! ;)

WDW...My coworkers want to give me a shower and my best friends wants to have "celebration" for me. It does feel awkward, but like you, with 7 years between kids we need the "basics." We kept the big stuff none of the little things.

DIS B...Don't stress too much about feeling baby. Before long, she'll be keeping you awake at night!

scottishduffy...Hope to hear more from you, soon. :)

Oh, I think we will be seeing you here very soon! It was such a relief to have people here to tell the news to and talk about things before I was able to tell anyone else! I didn't have that luxury with my other pregnancies and keeping the secret entirely to myself almost killed me.

DIS B --- I just started feeling the baby move maybe a week ago, and it still isn't everyday -- just little "motions" that I'm assuming are the baby. I also have an anterior placenta (the placenta is on my belly side, not towards my spine) which also makes it harder to feel the baby. I was a little worried, but my doctor also said it was completely normal. It didn't help that people on another board I frequent were claiming they could feel their babies at 13-14 weeks! I'm pretty sure they just had gas or something :rotfl:

WDW is sold out this weekend? How is that possible? I hope it isn't like Christmas or New Years, or I will be spending a lot of time at the pool. I'm an early riser, so hopefully it won't be too bad at the parks at opening.

Congrats Scottishduffy --- I hope we'll see more of you!

Update: Ridiculously enough, I tried 3 doses of the meds and none of them worked for me! It has just been a trying week. In the end, I am going to have to go to the hospital tomorrow to have a d&c. Please continue to keep my DH and I in your thoughts. Thanks, in advance.

On a positive note, my doc said, after we get through all this and start trying again, as soon as I get a BFP, to call her and come in for a progestin (sp?) shot. She'll also want to do early ultrasounds on me, which I am happy about. Just seems to be more on the preventitive miscarriage plan (if there is such a thing). She also said, if we try for 3 to 6 months and nothing seems to be happening, we can come in and she'll put me on Clomid if I want. Thats b/c of my age...I will be 37 this month. Of course, she doesnt think we will need that b/c we got pregnant in our 2nd month of trying. Anyway, even though all this is a horrible experience, I am glad to know there are some positives that will eventually come from it.

Also, thanks to you ladies for letting me vent. While my hubby is very supportive, its just easier to talk specifics and certain things with other women. Men don't always seem to get it. :)

The extra parts were one of the things that initially turned me off Dr. Brown's, but seriously, they're not a big deal once you get started. They do make a dishwasher basket that is made to hold all the parts. We have one, but we frequently handwash (not always enough dishes to run the dishwasher when we need bottles) or use the munchkin basket with no problems. I was a serious opponent until DS loved them! He just polished one off, as a matter of fact, after basically turning his nose up at the soothie we had offered him before.

Thanks for the update Ariel, I have been thinking of you and was going to ask how things were....I will say a prayer for you that tomorrow can go as smoothly as possible. With all of the advances in medicine and now that your doctor knows that you may need some help to carry a pregnancy, I am sure that you will be back here before long with good news. You sound like you are being really strong.

Thanks. Physically speaking, things went well. Emotional speaking, it will take awhile to be ok. Thanks so much for all the support. I'm going to unsubscribe for awhile...but hope to join you ladies in the near future!

Ariel, I know you said you were unsubscribing, but just in case you are still reading, I wanted to let you know that I am happy to hear that things went as well as they could under the circumstances. Take the time to heal (physically and mentally). Hope to see you again on here soon. :goodvibes

Hello Everyone! I am back. :woohoo: Due date June 15.

Had my first OB appointment and everything is checking out good so far. HCG levels are going up as they should. I will have my first ultrasound next week and am excited for it!

Right now I am battling a pretty nasty cold and feel like there isn't really much I can take. I am all stuffed up and congested, though not running any temperatures. Just feeling icky!

I am currently finishing Graduate school. I will graduate in December and take my board exams shortly afterwards to become a Nurse Anesthetist. Though I have been lazy with studying for my exams the last week or so since have had the pregnancy on my brain! :sad2: Dh and I will also be moving to a different city in December. My OB is already aware that I will be moving in December and is making everything super easy as far as transfer of care/medical records is concerned. I am researching OB's in Orlando already.

Kind of a busy and hectic life at the moment! This is the first pregnancy for us, and will be the first grandbaby on DH's side of the family. Our families do not know yet as we want to get past 12 weeks first. The only people who know are the people at the hospital since I now need special assignments. DH have been married for 5 years, and I am excited to be a part of this group!

scottishduffy- Check out a neti pot. It was a life saver for me during allergy season while I was pregnant. It's kind of gross, but it really does work.

custom made letters to spell baby's name that I found on Etsy.

Skuttle - which Etsy person did you buy from? I noticed there are tons of them out there. Did you get your letters yet? Just wondering if you are happy with them?

Hello Everyone! I am back. :woohoo: Due date June 15.
Had my first OB appointment and everything is checking out good so far.

Welcome & Congrats!

***********

7 more days til my due date and nothing yet. So much for my doc's thoughts on this little guy coming early. If he is not here before the 22nd, my doc is in trouble! I'm so ready. I woke up around 3:30am and had a little bit of lower back pain so I thought maybe I'm in labor. Nope, nothing........ I'm having lots of Braxton Hicks and feeling a little more pressure than usual, but that's about it. I don't think he is any hurry.

I think we agreed on a name though. My top 3 as of late were Brayden, Landon, and Mason. DH & DD both want Mason. That could always change, but I think we are going to go with Mason Jack. My last name sounds like manic, but is spelled way differently. I think it sounds OK......
