I've been checking in here just to see what you are having Pollito and so excited for you that it is a little girl! The tech wasn't 100% sure with my first either, but she is in fact a girl. Congrats!

Sooo, we went to the u/s appt today.....the little bugger was not exactly cooperative. Head is up past my belly button and butt is right on my bladder! :headache: So it was difficult to get a good shot of the "goods", but the tech is guessing....

It's a girl!!! princess:

She said she couldn't see anything between the legs, but was having trouble getting a good close up of the 3 lines. She was poking my stomach pretty hard to try and get the baby to move, but that just made her cross her legs! Looks like I may have a stubborn little lady on my hands already! :rotfl:

YAYYYYY!!! Little girls rock. And she's got a big brother to chase away those pesky boyfriends, too! Congrats!!

And thank you all for the very warm welcome! This is a very friendly thread

Quick question - I have an OB appt. tomorrow, and he is u/s happy - has a machine in the office and does one at most every appt. if he has time (which I love). I just started my 13th week today - does anyone know if there's any chance he will be able to tell the sex if he does do an u/s tomorrow? I don't want to ask him because I will feel silly asking so early, but I am just dying to know.

Kristi

Ok, I'm going to lose it.

I called the OB yesterday to ask about the additional iron for the anemia. (Remember they told me I needed to take 50-65mg twice per day, but didn't take into account that I was already taking 45mg once per day)... They FINALLY called me back today and say "Don't take any more, only what you were taking"... But... I NEED MORE. My RLS is SOOO bad. And when I first went on the supplement (before pregnancy) my RLS was horrid and improved on the iron supplement.

I don't know what to do. I feel like I'm going to offend the OB if I call my PCP and ask him (who put me one the iron in the first place) to do more tests. I can't sleep at night. I tried the unisom (doxylamine succinate) last night and it didn't help AT ALL. I was up until 2 with the worst bout of RLS yet. Ambien does help, but I'm still afraid to get dependent on it... and what if I run out?

Why isn't the OB (and staff) listening to me? I know I sound like a hypochondriac. I even admit that I might be one. Ever since I had the neuropathy problems I've been WAAAY too interested in my symptoms for every little thing... the sad thing is, I'm *almost* always right about what's wrong with me, and my PCP knows it -- either that or he humor's me w/o making me feel like he's humoring me.

I don't know. I am so tired I can't see straight. And if I'm really not supposed to up my iron, then what? Being anemic is NOT good for baby. It can cause preterm birth and low birth weights. It's not good for me because I can't sleep, and it's not good for the rest of my family because I'm exceptionally crabby.

I hope I make it to Friday and my next appt. Right now I am not sure that I can get that far on no sleep and twitchy legs.

Have you looked at what the risks of taking too much iron are? I mean, not crazy amounts, but just a little more? If they are not scary risks, but just constipation or the like, I think I would just go ahead and up the iron for a few days and see if the symptoms improve. I was constantly anemic from about 18-25, and I would mess with my supplements all the time until I got to the right place, where I felt good and was not constipated from it, either. Granted, I haven't looked at any possible risks, but just my 2 cents :) At any rate, if you don't feel like your OB's office is listening to you, go to your PCP!! It is your health and your family it is affecting - not your OB's.

Hope you get better soon :goodvibes

Hi everyone, I am joining in! Hubby and I have spent the last year discussing adding a baby to our DD10 and DS6 and after so much soul-searching, we decided we couldn't take the fertility drugs and the heartbreak again. It took us a year with my son and now I am 6 years older! I wasn't feeling so hot, tried to remember my last period, got a test and here we are. I have no clue of a due date and haven't really told anyone yet. I am so glad to be here.

I don't think you can actually tell before like 16 weeks. I wish I could find it, but there was this great video showing fetal development, and one of the things it showed was how both genders look the same until a certain point in the pregnancy. But it wouldn't hurt to ask "When do the external sex organs develop?" :)

Yep, I've looked them up and decided that until at least my appt on friday when I actually get to talk to the DOCTOR (and not his staff) I'm just going to continue taking 2x what I was taking pre-pregnancy. The kind of iron I take (carbonyl iron) is apparently absorbed much more slowly and has a much lower incidence or probability of overdose, so I'm not worried about it. I'm also going to ask him about the B12 numbers on friday and if I don't like what I hear I'm going to ask him to talk to my PCP (they work for the same company) about the results. I'm fairly certain he will do that.

Yay!! I'm so excited for you. Now you can change your "thinking pink"!

We also had a stubborn baby yesterday. At 17w she said she thought girl but her legs were crossed. Again yesterday she was doing the same thing, but the tech is 99% sure it's a girl. So I'm going with that!

I would think you'll have another ultrasound at your glucose screening. So far I've had 4 and that one will be #5. They are ultrasound happy at my office!

Welcome mpls!

Well, let's put it this way-- I had an U/S at 11w2d. The tech (and me, and DH) saw what might be a "boy part," lol but she told us not to quote her on it. Well, it's definitely a boy!

OMG! Congrats!! Stick around, we're a nice group. Let us know when you get a due date, and I'll add you to the list. :goodvibes

I was kinda thinking they might be able to see if its a boy, but not a girl. I was never this anxious with my 1st 2 - guess I'll just have to find some patience. :)

Yeah, I think that makes sense. I had an u/s at 15 weeks and the tech said boy, but don't hold her to it. I had a level 2 u/s at 18 weeks and it is definitely a boy....I agree, girl is probably harder to guess really early....

Thanks everyone for the congratulations! :goodvibes

And she's got a big brother to chase away those pesky boyfriends, too!

That's what DH said! He's been worried about having a girl, but felt better knowing our son would happily chase away any potential boyfriends! :rotfl2:

You're lucky your OB likes to do u/s so much! The practice at my OB's office and my last OB was one per pregnancy, unless medically necessary. I felt lucky to get an early one with this pregnancy at 12w2d, but our baby had her legs crossed, so we couldn't see anything. I think it is possible to see gender at 13 weeks, more likely boy than girl.

Yay for a more definite girl! I'm jealous of everyone that gets so many u/s! We only got 1 with DS during the entire pregnancy. We've had 2 with this one, but only b/c they couldn't find the hb at 12 weeks with the doppler. I hope you're right though, and I'll get another one at one of my next appointments. I would really like to know for sure before we leave for DL in 2 weeks! :cool1:

I'm kind of obsessive so I spent some time looking at u/s pics online last night, and the more I looked at the more I think ours looks like a girl!

Now on to the naming debate.....:scratchin

I think the 29-30 week is a big ultrasound. They measure stuff, etc. I would ask for one. I mean if you are paying, what's the big deal?
