Welcome and congrats on #3 Milmore104! I am also expecting my 3rd and we were in WDW in November when I was 26 weeks, I think, and over the summer when I was in the first trimester and horribly ill all day. Both trips were fine overall though, with the 26 week trip being great, so I wouldn't hesitate to go while pregnant.

Cappygirl - Glad to hear your fluid levels are back up. Are you thirsty a lot? I find I am chronically thirsty so maybe it's the body's way of saying we need to drink a lot to be sure the baby has plenty of room to 'swim'.

Aurora - Sorry to hear about the pain you went through. I think the change in diet you mentioned might have a lot to do with it. When we went to my in-laws in October, I guess I was something like 22-24 weeks, my SIL had her son's birthday party, so tons of junk food. I hadn't eaten that morning so I ate 2 hot dogs, a ton of donut holes, and cookie cake. That night we went to a church fair and I couldn't even look at food, and when I took a bite of my son's chicken fingers I felt like vomiting. I was soooooo sick that night and hadn't been in a few weeks so I can only attribute it to the junk. And I don't even like donuts normally, so that probably should have been a sign to stay away, but no!

Really cool that your husband got to feel your son move on Christmas! What an amazing gift that must have been for you both.

Another day of gymnastics camp for my kids so I will, hopefully, get a lot of stuff done at home. We took down the tree this weekend so I now have some space I didn't previously and can rearrange some toys so I have room to set up the swing. Right now the swing and bouncy seat covers are in the wash cause our cats have decided they are comfy places to nap.

Speaking of cats, does anyone here have any and if so how did you/or plan to keep them off the baby stuff? I know it's near impossible, but certain things I am going to be crazy about, like if I find the cats sleeping in the bassinet. I spray them with a water bottle everytime they jump on my bed, but I am sure they are up there overnight or during the day when I'm not in the bed, so I can imagine they will do the same with the baby's stuff.

I should get moving. I think I'll bring the carseat down and maybe install it now. Seems early, but it's sort of in my way where I have it stored right now so I might as well get the base in the car and alleviate some of the clutter inside the house.

ETA: Oh yeah, I know one of you ladies due with a summer baby really, really wants to take over the list!

Well, I nearly went to the ER on Christmas day. I was having pain in my lower abdomen that was keeping me from standing upright, it got so bad. I could feel the little guy moving around, so I tried to get him settled since we were so far from home and wouldn't be with our doctors, etc. And besides...On Christmas day, who wants to go to the ER? I drank some Mtn. Dew to try to make him move (thinking he might be in a bad position) and ate a snack. After laying down for a while, I got to feeling better. I was totally fine when we went to my aunt's for lunch, but it started again while we were there, just never got as bad.

It was so weird...I think it was a mix of spending so much time in the car the day before, and a change in diet, which led to changes in bathroom habits, if you know what I mean. I feel fine now, and he's wiggling just as much as ever!

DH was able to feel him move on Christmas night-what a nice gift!

Maybe it was round ligament pain? I had a bunch of really sharp pains on the right side the week before Xmas and the OB I saw (my doc was out of the office) sent me to the ER to make sure it wasn't appendicitis. It wasn't, and the next day my doc ran a bunch of tests and did (yet another) u/s and looked around for anything. They found nothing and decided it must be round ligament pain, which my doctor describe as "it hurts like a *****" (though, since he's a man I'm not sure how he would know. :rotfl: ). I think it was a combo of stress too because as soon as my dad's memorial service was over two days later, I started feeling much better. Also having a "diagnosis" seemed to help with me tolerating the pain because it wasn't as scary. I hope you don't have anymore pains like that though!

I also went to WDW while pregnant w/ my first baby. I think I was like 31 weeks. It was over memorial day weekend, and I was hot, and I swear I visited EVERY bathroom in the parks. I still say I wish I had taken a picture of each one, just for giggles. We had a good time, but overdid it on the first day and my legs were really sore the rest of the trip. The second day we went to Typhoon lagoon and I just stood in the wave pool and took a load off for a couple of hours, it was wonderful, and DH just stood there patiently with me.

We took our tree down last night too. Our house is a disaster ATM. The floors in our office and kitchen are in the process of being torn up by DH. I'm not sure why I agreed to this. :) The new pretty bamboo floors will probably be worth the hassle.

Those of you with a big age gap between kids, how did the transition go? DD will turn 8yo 2 weeks after I'm due, and I'm wondering how she's really going to handle losing her only child status. She is excited about the baby, but who knows how jealous she will be when the time actually comes. I'm really nervous about it, and I can't imagine my life with more than one kid. I know it will be wonderful, but... :)

Congrats Disneylovr!

I have a question and I'm hoping someone here has been thru this and can help.

Background: I tend to feel that my pregnancy is very private. I don't like getting so large and I'm really uncomfortable having my picture taken while I look this way. I think that my u/s pictures shouldn't be broadcast to the world, it's my body... I don't email pictures of my x-rays. I'm just really uncomfortable with everyone looking at them. We've had a "more high risk than most" pregnancy so I've had a lot of ultrasounds. I also live in Florida and my family lives in NJ and they are having a VERY hard time with the fact that I'm not being "normal" during my pregnacy. To clarify, I'm being normal for me... but I'm not acting like the "normal" pregnant person. We got into a huge (and I mean really really really big) fight over Thanksgiving because I'm not being pregnant the way my mother wanted to me to be. She wants to show everyone how big I'm getting and send u/s pictures to everyone she's ever met and that's just not something I'm comfortable with. She's currently upset because one of her friends got to go to her daughter's 20 wk u/s and she didn't get to come to mine. (And to be honest, I had NO IDEA that people brought their mothers with them... it never even occurred to me) So anyway, she's upset that she didn't get to come and I'm hearing about it from my entire family.
And before I sound like a horrible person, I understand why my mother is upset. I do. But we live in Florida and I value my privacy and I have tried very hard to work out a compromise with her, but it's either her way or no way. There is no black and white. Which is frustrating.

This brings me to my question. We will be home (NJ) this coming weekend and I made an appt for an u/s at one of those strip mall places basically to make my mother happy. It's a surprise and we'll get a DVD and a CD of the images.
Has anyone done one of these? Did you feel safe? Uncomfortable? Obviously I'm nervous but I want to do this for her.

Welcome to all the newcomers!!

Lindsay - I'd say whatever you are comfortable with is fine. Honestly, this is probably the beginning of butting heads with family regarding pregnancy and child raising. Especially if you have a family that likes to speak their mind. I have been very lucky in that my family supports anything that I want/need. As for the 3D u/s places, I went to one with DS1 and will go again in a few weeks with this pregnancy. I don't think there is any harm but you need to feel ok with it. Congrats by the way! Do you know if it's a girl or boy?

I need to read and catch up more on everyone. Christmas was great around here. I am starting to get really tired now. I *think* 27 weeks marks the start of the 3rd tri right? We are going to start working on the nursery this week since DH is very slow at work and around a lot more!! I am starting to get excited.

Speaking of travel ... what is the general rule for travel? DH is craving a quick trip to Florida to visit some friends and golf for a weekend. He WILL go without me which won't make me too happy and I would like to go as well but as time is getting short I don't know how late is "okay" to travel. Of course I will ask my OB but just wondering around here.

Welcome Baby Cole!!

And welcome to all the new ladies!!!

So, I am going to the dentist this morning to get my tooth looked at. I have been hesitant to eat since it cracked/broke, and I am so hungry right now!!

I am working like crazy to get the house back in order before DH comes home (a week from today!! Woohoo!!). Christmas stuff can't come down yet. We are doing Christmas with DH's family on the 9th, so it will come down after that. I worked on cleaning out DS's room yesterday. That boy has waaaaay too many clothes!! Got rid of 3 big bags of stuff, and he still has a ton!! His T-shirt drawer barely closes!

I need to finish putting my room back together, and get everything out of the living room that belongs in my bedroom. Hopefully it won't take too long once DH gets home to get all the kids' rooms switched. I feel like I can't get anything washed and put away from Elliott until he has a room of his own!

And in my procrastination, I am back.

Nette - I don't have a big age gap between my kids, but my cousin's kids are 10 years apart and my SIL's 2nd and 3rd are almost 6 years apart. In my cousin's case, she had tried for years to have a 2nd kid with only 2 miscarriages in between, so she was terrified at the 10 year gap, but her daughter LOVES their new baby. She truly thinks she is the 2nd mother to this baby (who is now 15 months). My cousin told her (the 10yo) that she could be the 1st person to see/hold the baby when she was born, and they let her choose the spelling of the baby's name, and those things thrilled her. Of course, then the birth didn't go as planned and the baby flipped to breech at the last minute so she needed a c-section and it was hours before the 10yo was able to see/hold her sister and all the other relatives were getting annoyed in the meantime! But the 10yo loved being able to have that first moment.

My SIL, things are fine now that the baby is 8 months and her son has adjusted, but he was such a mama's boy till the 3rd was born so it was a rough transition for him. He would cry at bathtime and tell my SIL he couldn't bathe himself, would get so upset when she couldn't read him a story before bed cause the baby was crying, etc.

Her 8yo was fine, but I guess she was used to having someone younger and annoying around so it didn't phase her, plus she loved having a baby to hold and play with so I guess she didn't mind the lack of attention in the beginning.

Lindsay22 - I did have a 3D ultrasound done with my 1st and it was fun and neat, and we brought my mom along too. It was pretty much just like the regular ultrasounds, only a little longer in my case cause my daughter chose that moment to fall asleep with her face pointed away from the wand, so we had to poke around a bit to wake her up. We ended up going back a 2nd time cause she just wouldn't cooperate.

My mom also lives in NJ (along with my whole family), my inlaws are in New Orleans, and we are in DC, so people don't really get to be active in my pregnancies either. We did send ultrasound photos to the family, in fact with my 2nd and 3rd that was how we told everyone we were expecting another kid. We've gotten a lot of ultrasounds with this 3rd kid but haven't gotten printed photos from all of them so we don't send photos all the time.

I also hate photos taken of me when I look huge like this, so I do keep that to a minimum and don't ever send those to anyone, if in fact there is a photo of me. My cousin just had a baby 2 weeks ago and posted weekly belly photos on Facebook and I totally don't get that as my belly is gross after 3 kids (actually, it wasn't pretty at this point with the 1st kid either!) so I don't want anyone seeing it!!

Tigger - How exciting that you only have a week left till your husband is back! Good luck with the tooth today, hope the dentist visit goes well.

DMickey - My OB let me fly to Arizona this month at, hmm, I think I was 32 weeks, and I do have a higher risk of preterm labor. He did make me get an ultrasound before he okayed the trip to be sure I wasn't dilating or whatever, but then he was okay with it.

I just accidentally found this thread but am thrilled it exists! :goodvibes

I will be 8 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I am super excited but more terrified, I had an EPL 3 years ago (very early on, the Dr. said he was surprised I even realized I was pregnant) so I am ultra nervous. But very, very hopeful.

My due date is 8/10/10.

DH and I were able to hear the heartbeat on 12/23! What a Christmas Miracle that was for us. This pregnancy comes to us after 8 rounds of IUI. 5 rounds with Clomid and 3 with injectables. This was going to be my last round because emotionally I wasn't sure I could handle another round. I was very surprised to hear the positive result - I was planning on calling an adoption agency that afternoon!

Anyway, that is all for now. I look forward to getting to know everyone! :goodvibes

/
Justhat - I haven't really been thirsty although I've felt really dry - I kept blaming it on the heat in our apartment but it might just have been dehydration. It's definitely a struggle to get all 8 glasses of water in a day but I'm doing it!

I hear you on the car seat thing! It just gets in the way when it's inside but we thought we'd feel stupid driving around with it too early. After hearing the doctor say that the head was way down though, DH is ready to install it and keeps asking me if the baby bag is packed yet. I really don't think we're gonna be early (since aren't most first pregnancies late??) but I probably should get that bag packed.....

Welcome Jenn&Nelson and Congratulations!!!

Cappygirl - My first was 15 days early, so there's a chance! Of course I think that's just me cause my 2nd was 26 days early, which isn't exactly within the normal range, but still, you never know. I know we had the seat installed before my daughter was born, so it was at least by 37 weeks. And with my son I had the seat in before he came too, so I guess that was around 35 weeks or so. Odd, I guess my body knew it needed to get ready!

This time I have just started getting stuff ready at 34.5 weeks, but mostly just cause I needed to get the Christmas stuff out of the way. At this point carseat installation is pretty second nature, but I am tired of stepping over the seat on my way to/from the 'attic' stairs.

I realized I never got a call back about my ultrasound appt so I came back downstairs to call now and the helpful secretary booked it for 1/11. Great except that I told her my OB wanted it done before I am 36 weeks, which is 1/6. She basically said "Oh well!" I am so irritated as I did call last week and left a message since I was on hold forever and now they say they are booked till then. And I get it is crowded with holidays and such, but really, they need to keep a few slots open for necessities. I might just call the hospital's radiology dept and get it down there as they usually are less crowded, but it also takes longer for my OB to get the results than when I go to the one in his office.

Jenn - Welcome and congrats! What a bumpy ride you must have been on, so hearing the heartbeat right before Christmas must have been great! BTW, I feel like I've seen your name on one of my cruise meet threads in the past. We've sailed in 2/07, 7/07, 4/08, 9/08, and 8/09.

We have sailed 10/02, 12/04, 12/06, and 10/08, although the only time I was part of a cruise meet thread was for the 10/08 DD sailing. I did pop in to the 9/08 DD every once in awhile because it was the one almost immediately after drydock and the DD before ours - If you were on the DD in 9/08 - that is where you probably saw me!

It has been a bumpy ride... Although I have help this time around. I am on ******l suppositories of progesterone twice a day. I have been affectionately been calling these my uterine steroids!

How long do you have to stay on the progesterone?

I've been on weekly progesterone injections with this pregnancy from 15 weeks till tomorrow ( ) so I sympathize. The worst part about it for me is that the progesterone injections tend to make me slightly sick, so even after the morning sickness ended (which was BAD for me, vomiting twice a day, etc.), I still have felt nauseous, tired, and sick the entire pregnancy. Seems to be worth it though as I'm almost 35 weeks and still have the baby *inside* which is not what anyone thinks would be the case without the shots.

And yes, that was likely the cruise, in 9/08. Though we initially had October booked and changed it so it could have been there too. We were never on a meet thread before that either, and though we have 2 cruises planned for '10 and '11, my husband is really the only one who reads/posts on those meet threads. I mean to, really, but it never really materializes.

Wow, this thread is hopping lately!

So, I was able to get in at the dentist. He bonded the broken part of the tooth to the regular tooth as a "quick fix", and scheduled me for a root canal after Elliott is born. Lucky me....

I have realized that I need to start getting all the little things ready for Elliott. I have a car seat, stroller, crib, and getting a Pack N Play this week. I have some outfits and sleepers, and a package of onesies and a package of socks. That is it! My whole problem is that I have nowhere to put anything, since Elliott doesn't have a room yet (won't happen until at least next week).

Tigger - Glad to hear they fixed your tooth with, hopefully, minimal discomfort. Sorry about the root canal though.

And I am right there with you in being so behind. Yesterday I did put in the carseat, but it's not at the right angle and I was cold so I quit. I might try this afternoon, but it's so windy outside it's probably colder than yesterday. And I did wash a bunch of stuff yesterday, but it's all just sitting on my bed, along with the rest of our laundry, waiting to be folded, and then I have to figure out where to put things. Since the baby doesn't/won't have a room, I have no idea where to put everything. My daughter's bed has 6 drawers underneath and since she mainly wears dresses, which are in the closet, She has 2 empty drawers that I will use. The closet has space too, but how many baby things can I really hang up? I wanted to buy one of those hanging storage cube things for the closet, but I have stacking cubes on the bottom which hold all my son's clothes, so the hanging cubes I found would be too low.

My daughter is going to see the Princess and the Frog with a friend this afternoon and I am hoping my son naps so I can get some stuff done, but we'll see what actually happens.

Okay, my son just told me he wants to nap on me so time to go. And he really wants to push the "h" key cause he has "an h name". So here it is: hh

I have been on the progesterone suppositories since the day after my insemination (11/19). When I was discharged from the specialist on 12/23 they told me to start weaning myself off of them beginning 1/5. I will go to one a day at that time, then on 1/12, one every other day. Then I need bloodwork to make sure my body is producing enough on its own. If not, I will go back on them. I am nervous about stopping them though... Even though they are messy and annoying (my husband has to do the honors), they give me a (I am having trouble coming up with the word I want) but "confidence" will do....

I would certainly say it is worth it to still have a baby inside at 35 weeks! I would gladly stay on them, either suppository or injection to make it full term. I really am terrified.

Jenn - My 2nd child was preterm which is why I have been on the progesterone. He was 36 weeks, 2 days, so not terrible by any means, and overall he was fine. He did have liver issues in the beginning - bad jaundice that took a full 2 months to clear up, and liver enzyme issues, leading to failing one of the metabolic disorder screenings. Part of that, however, was due to his size as he was 8lbs 4oz but his liver was the size of a normal 36 week baby so it simply couldn't keep up with him. He had to stay a bit longer in the nursery at birth, then was nearly admitted to the Children's Hospital PICU twice, but ultimately we got through it. The first 9 months or so he was also a good month behind on milestones, but again, nothing major.

But my daughter was also 15 days early. While that is basically normal, it was the extreme end of the range, so with my son's 36 week birth and my daughter's barely term birth, things were not looking favorable for me to get to 40 weeks with this one. My OB still has no doubt in his mind that I won't get to 40 weeks, but 36 weeks was the goal, and I am almost there so I'm pretty happy about that.

The thing that hasn't been favorable with all my kids is that I start contracting around 16 weeks. Not a ton, but enough, apparently, that I'm going into labor sooner than I should. At this point I am getting probably 2 contractions an hour, all day, and that is with the shots. Without them, hmm, I remember counting 4-5 an hour many days before my kids were born.

I finally got all the laundry folded, now I just need to find a place to put it all. And I think I'll call our ped cause my son's nose has been runny since 12/10. We usually let things run their course, but the kid has been sleeping from 5:30pm-7am nearly every night, and is horribly whiny, so I think maybe it's a sinus infection at this point.

Anybody else working on packing their hospital bag? I tend to be an over-packer but this seems to be getting out of control! How to I cut down??
If anybody is willing to share what you're packing/packed so I can figure out what really is and isn't necessary, that'd be great!!

I haven't started packing yet, but only cause my diaper bag is still on a UPS truck and not my house. ;) I don't pack a lot for the hospital though, despite the immense amount of stuff I drag along on any vacation.

I am satisfied wearing the hospital gown simply cause of all the, hmm, fluids, that tend to be present in those first few days so I have no desire to wreck my own stuff. Our hospital requires non-skid socks or slippers/shoes, so while I did bring my own socks, anytime I walked to the nursery I had to wear their non-skid ones or my shoes.

I will be packing a toothbrush, paste, hairbrush, clothes to wear home, then the baby's stuff. So an outfit for the nursery portrait, outfit to come home in, snowsuit, and I think that's it. They supply diapers, gauze pads (which you can wet to use as wipes as they don't recommend wipes in the beginning), t-shirts, hat, blankets, pacifiers, etc.

I did consider bringing my own pajamas this time around, but I keep thinking about that mesh underwear, ice-filled packs, and enormous 'pads' and I was deterred. And of course we'll have a camera with us, and cell phones cause our hospital isn't allowing any visitors to the maternity floor other than the parents of the baby, so I'll need to email photos to family, particularly cause my kids won't see her till we bring her home.

locolala,

I too have MS but it is also mild. No meds or anything and nothing I can't handle.

Nice to meet another Mama that has it. :)

We went to WDW Nov 30-Dec 8 of this year. I was 25 weeks. Midwife said I was fine for flying. I have had problems with my legs swelling so I got a couple of extra pillows from mousekeeping to put them up at night. Other than that keep yourself hydrated and take breaks and rest throughout the day.
Have a great time!

Wow what a great thread. I just found it while searching for answers.

First Hello I'm the Mommy to 2 BEAUTIFUL girls... Alexzandra is 9 and my little Boo (Izabelle) is a year old TODAY! And as an added Christmas Surprise I'm due July 31 w/ baby # 3. So much for the Dr's that told me I would NEVER have a child.

I canceled our trip the year before because I was pregnant. However this year I don't want to cancel it. Who know how long it will be before we will get back w/ 3 kids. That's 2 extra plane tickets I'll have to buy. I'm nervous however to go while pregnant. Anyone have some advice/ Thanks

There's 8 years between my kids right now. You would never think that an 11 y/o and an almost 3 y/o would fight. But they are also the best of friends and love each other so much. They make my heart melt when they are having one of their cuddle moments etc. They'll take baths together or sleep together in the same bed. I don't know if it is because they are both girls. D#3 is due in March so it will be interesting.
My husband has a sister 10 years younger than him and a brother 13 years younger. They are all the best of friends.
