Moms to Be Part 3

I feel like I have just gotten cold after cold this fall, and I am starting to panic thinking about how sick this baby is going to be with all the germs my kids bring home from school.

UGH - when I lived in DC I was sick all the time - 4-5 colds a year! Since we got back to FL (a year and a half ago) I've only had one (while I was pregnant) and thankfully it only lasted 4-5 days since I couldn't take much of anything for it.

Will you be BF? If so, I think the baby will probably be ok. Quite a few inconsiderate people have been around Isabel sick (as early as 2 weeks old) and she thankfully has been ok!

Yes, I'll be breastfeeding this one, Adi. My husband likes to joke that it's unfortunate he can't breastfeed as his immune system is so much better than mine.

It's nice to know that you don't get as many colds now that you have moved. Hopefully that is the case for me next year when we are in Tucson. This fall has been insane with the illnesses in our house, and we usually don't get very sick!

Well, it was a nice quiet New Years for us. And now that it is 2010, it is time to pop Elliott out!! I hurt so much lately!! Today I went and saw the world premiere of my very first movie (Ed Gein: The Musical....seriously!! I had a part at the very end in the mental hospital. It was awesome!!). My back and belly hurt so bad from the seats in the theater. My tooth that I had fixed on Monday cracked again, so it will be back to the dentist on Monday for me (yuck!). And, on top of everything else, DH is delayed at least a day coming home from overseas. I am just ready to have him back!!!

BabyTigger - I am right there with you on the pain! I never had this with the others, but I am constantly in pain and so ready to have this baby out so I can feel relatively normal again.

Hey everyone just wanted to let you all know that Jake Ryan was born on Dec 19,2009 at 3:44pm.He weighed 6 pds 12 oz and was 19 1/2 inches.I was induced on Friday night and he was born by c-section on Saturday afternoon because his heart rate started going down with the contractions and it turned out that the cord was around his neck.He was fine after birth thank goodness.I was in the hospital untill the day before Christmas eve.I will post more about the birth and pictures later but it is time to feed him now.

Congratulations! :dance3:

Hi ladies!

Can I join you? I just found out I am expecting on Friday. This pregnancy is a total surprise as we had to have fertility treatments to conceive my DS3.

I am a little nervous because I miscarried 2 years ago at 12 weeks, but I have a good feeling about this pregnancy. I am going to call my OB today and hopefully get a referal to a high risk OB as I have had 3 miscarriages total and one live birth. Cross your fingers for me. :goodvibes

My due date is September 10th.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Joy

Congrats!! I have a good feeling about my pregnancy too. I hope it turns out well for us both.

I have been feeling great the last few days. I think I figured out why I've been feeling so terrible. My doctor put me on Lexapro after I got off BC because of terrible PMDD. Well I thought I tapered myself off the meds well enough, but now I'm realizing maybe I didn't! I expected side effects like brain zaps, headaches, insomnia, etc but I was more moody, nauseated, and exhausted. Figured that was pregnancy. But I haven't felt any of those symptoms since last week and since I don't think I'm miscarrying (I'm 7w and had a miscarriage before), I'm thinking it was the Lexapro. Which is great news because I didn't think I was going to make it through the first trimester feeling that way. :thumbsup2

In other news, we also just booked at week at WDW in April. :cool1: I will be about 22 weeks. I feel like this will be a great time to go...over the 1st trimester exhaustion, but not quite so big I'm uncomfortable. Any tips from those who have been to WDW pregnant??

Welcome Jake!
I wanted to thank everyone for making me feel more comfortable about the "mall" ultrasound that I booked for my mom. She was so happy and excited that we took her and has watched the DVD over and over and over again. She said it was "the most beautiful thing she's ever seen". Slightly dramatic, but I'm glad she was happy.
We had my baby shower this weekend (we did it a little early because I had to fly and we didn't want to risk any problems) and go so much stuff!!! Lots of little shoes and even a little swimsuit.
We also talked to the people that we chose to be godparents and my little cousin who will be godfather was sooooooo excited. It was adorable. He's decided that he should get to name little Spike and he will be taking her to her first Yankees game!

Vettechick- We live an hour from Disney so we're here a lot. My biggest piece of advice is to take it slow. It can get hot in April, so be prepared for that. Bring a water bottle and refill it often. Oh, and wear a hat. I found that hot felt hotter and I liked to have something to shade my face.

vettechick99,
We were in Disney in December and I was 26 weeks. I have trouble with my legs swelling & varicose veins so I had to stop and sit and put my feet up. Other than that it was fine. Make sure to stay hydrated and pace yourself.

Gabe's Mommy,
Welcome. I too am here after two m/c and am 30 weeks as of yesterday. I rented a doppler at 14 weeks and it has been a saviour of my sanity and probably marriage...LOL Even now I use it because this baby doesn't move around as much as I would like her to.
Glad you are here :)

Congrats Gabesmommy! What exciting news for you guys!

Vettechick - With this pregnancy we went to WDW when I was 17 weeks and 28 weeks and they were both good trips. I did need to make more potty stops than usual, but with another kid that doesn't matter too much anyway. The 17 week trip was August and it was insanely hot, which was a bit draining, but we just stayed away from doing long days (so no fireworks or anything). Also, my husband wasn't there for that trip (we went to WDW with a friend a few days before we did DCL, but neither of our husbands could take off more than the week of the cruise) so I am sure that made a difference. Particularly since we were staying in CBR on the 2nd floor so I had to lug a double stroller up and down the stairs myself.

The 28 week trip was mid-November though, and the weather was perfect, as were the crowds, so it was a very pleasant trip.

When in April are you guys going? We went over spring break last year, arrived 4/4, and it was actually pretty chilly (sweatshirt weather, nothing cold), so if you get weather like that you'll be set!

Lindsay - Glad to hear your ultrasound was fun and that your mom enjoyed it. And how exciting that you had your shower too! It is always fun to have so many new, tiny things to sort through.

KikiMouse - My little girl doesn't move as much as my 2nd did either, which sometimes sort of scares me, but then I try to see it as maybe a good sign that she'll be much calmer than my son once she's out.

Time to call my OB's office since they have yet to call me with an appt for this week or next. I truly don't get how they know exactly how many babies are due in January/early February but yet they don't allow for weekly visits. Like going on the 21st will be remotely helpful to me.

I just got a call from my midwife. I have gestational diabetes. I have been referred to a doctor so I called the office. I was told they would look for my paperwork and if I didn't hear from them in a week to call back. I explained I am 30 weeks pregnant and don't have all the time in the world to get this figured out with eating/exercising etc.
Why can't people understand.

Kiki Mouse- Sorry to hear about your test results. I hope you're able to get in to see the doc asap!

PoohDrMr: Congratulations!! :goodvibes

Gabes_mommy: Welcome!! I hope this pregnancy goes smoothly for you!

Can't believe I'm #1 on the list  Went to the doctor on Thursday and I told her I was ready - she told me that I had to make it through the next uncomfortable few weeks in order to make labor seem like a good idea :scared:
Although after feeling how low the baby is already, she seemed to think we might go a bit early but it's all just guess work at this point. She said people usually go into labor about 2 weeks after they drop - and I'm pretty sure I dropped 2 weeks ago so.....we wait. It really is true that this last month takes forever!

We had my baby shower this weekend (we did it a little early because I had to fly and we didn't want to risk any problems) and go so much stuff!!! Lots of little shoes and even a little swimsuit.

Sounds like you had a great shower!!! How fun!!! Mine is in 2 weeks and I'm excited. :goodvibes

Here's a dumb question.... and this is for all the moms to be... what did you wear or what are you planning to wear to your shower? Also, is your shower planned or do you think it will be a surprise. I started a thread asking if mom's to be are supposed to be in on the planning and a lot of people are shocked that I know when my shower is :confused3 I wouldn't like to walk in not knowing it was my shower. What if I hadn't done my hair that day?

justhat, we are going April 17-24. Latter part of the month, so I'm expecting pleasant weather. But even when I am pregnant I'm terribly cold so I plan on packing lots of layers.

Kiki, I'm sorry you have GD. It's hard enough just being pregnant, but to add that into the mix... sheesh! Pixie dust for you and cappygirl...

My shower was planned. I needed to fly out for it so we couldn't make it a surprise. (That was fine by me) I wore a black v-neck dress from Motherhood and a purple cardigan with rhinestone buttons from Old Navy. I was only involved in the planning as far as the date, the cake flavor, and the fact that I didn't want any games (think Miranda from Sex and the City). Everything else was done by my mom and sisters.

I had to fly out for my shower with DS as well. Not having one this time. I wore black pants and a nice white sweater since it was in February in New England.

Agreed.

Know what else sucks? RLS. If I don't eat cereal for breakfast (for the extra folate) it drives me bonkers all day long. Sigh.

I've heard Iron helps with RLS too. I don't have it yet thankfully, but I have a feeling I will. It's weird, I didn't think that the ligament pain would start yet, because I'm only 13 weeks, but I'm also on the skinny side so I wonder if that's why.

My ligament pain started at 11 weeks (I'm also just over 13 weeks and on the skinny side) The good news is it subsided after my dad's funeral and now it's just a twinge here and there, usually in the morning. I feel your pain. :(

I'm already taking iron supplements and I'm hesitant to add more w/o talking to my doctor. He sounded really kind of unsure when he said the iron and B12 counts in my prenatal blood work were "ok". So I'm going to ask him what the actual numbers were. I know from experience that I require more iron than most people (even when not pregnant) to prevent RLS.
