Add me to the list of mommies getting a fetal echo soon. We had our ultrasound today and even though everything looked fine structurally with the baby's heart, the tech saw bilateral echogenic foci, which essentially presented as 2 little white dots on the heart. Since the heart looks perfect structurally, she thinks it's nothing, and apparently in 99% of babies with it, it is nothing, but she gave us the option to get the fetal echo so we're going to get one. I have to wait till 20 weeks to get that one, so the heart is slightly larger and easier to see, so another 2 weeks I guess.
Other than that, she said everything looked great, measuring slightly large (but smaller than the last 2, so that's good) and it's a girl! My daughter was so excited, as I expected she would be if that were the outcome. As much as I was hoping it would be a girl, I'm sorta sad that I'll never have another son, strange as that may seem. Particularly since I just put my son in time out for biting me.
It does mean, however, that we get to continue the name battle. As for forcing him into a name he doesn't like, it won't be a fight, as my husband would let me use any name I want, whether he likes it or not, well, unless it were something completely and totally horrible. He'll just complain about it for awhile but be over it when the baby is born, if not before then. By the time you're at the 3rd kid, the names you both agree on are slim! We actually don't have a girl name we both agree on, and other than my choice, there's nothing else out on the floor, at least nothing my husband has mentioned yet anyway. But we'll see. My daughter, MIL, SIL, and mom are on board with the name so he's been coming around. My MIL even sent him a newspaper story about a little girl named Tierney to get him into the idea.
