Background check??

I'm interested in this as well. What kind of info are they asking about? Are they just checking normal state-type "clearances" (like criminal records) or are they doing the whole check of employers, roommates and that kind of thing?

It'd be interesting to know if anyone winds up getting disqualified because of some association with Disney, or some personal history that they would object to. (Not that we're likely to find out about that... 'cause who's gonna say "hey, didn't get through because they found out I am an axe murder." )

What kind of info did you have to supply and did you have to supply it before the phone call round?

Also, I know the 3rd round email said it would be a 15 minute phone call. Did they tell you how many people would be on the call?

And, I'm inferring from an earlier post that the "training" trip and the "you and three guests" trip are confirmed to be separate trips. Anyone have a different take on that?

JoRy - Thanks for that info! I didn't even think of asking the lady who called. I *think* she works for someone other than Disney though (a PR firm?) I could be wrong about that, I was just going by the reply email address. Good luck on your interview today!!!

I have not heard anything official about how many people we are talking to, but from the message I did guess that it would be more than one. When I received the confirmation email about the schedued time, it said something about talking to 'members' or 'judges'...I forget the exact word, but it was plural.

I don't know what's in the background check. They are FedExing it out but I haven't gotten mine yet. I don't think I have anything overly interesting or embarassing in my past so I think I'm in the clear. I have avoided questions (and in a real pinch lied ) about my weight and/or age...wonder if that will come back to bite me in the tush now? My guess is that they are looking for criminal history. Maybe they want to look at financials? Not sure.

I have not received the background check yet. Once I do receive it I will let you know what all it is, but the Disney rep, Joanna, said it is just a standard background check. I have had to do similar ones as I coach a lot of youth sports teams, and those are just done through the local authorities I assume. Nothing too bad, it seems to me it is just done to cover themselves.

As far as the info...nothing major was supplied before the phone call this weekend. When I got the phone call, Joanna asked for my address (to send paper work with the background check), and what number the Disney people should call today to conduct the phone interview.

That is all I know so far...well, at least that is all I think I know. If anyone has any other questions, I will be happy to tell you what I know.

I am so glad to hear this. I never received an email either way and I was hoping that if I had made it they would have tried to call at least. So good to hear they did! It puts my mind to rest! Congratulations and best of luck!

You are right about the PR firm. It was not Disney itself, so I was wrong when I called her a cast member. The person who called this weekend was from a PR firm. Very interesting...I wonder why that is?

Anyway...I doubt they will go into financials...that is really not relevant, but just a criminal check...make sure there are no outstanding warrents for the 40 unpaid parking tickets someone might have gotten.

You guys are great! This has been loads of fun even if I did not make it past round two. I must say that all weekend I was kicking myself because I was not creative enough with round two's questions. I gave the cookie cutter answers because I was trying to keep things generic. I guess I should have picked a specific "target" (moms with little ones) and I didn't. Maybe there will be a next time. Those of you who make it need to remember us if you make it. Hopefully, they are keeping our info for future use!!! I REALLY hope you guys make it so I can chat with you there.

I also asked her about the trips. Well, not both of them, but I asked if the family was invited on the training trip and she said that was a good question but she did not know. She said I should ask the people doing the interviews, as they knew more about the logistics.

I thought I remember reading that the trip must include the Dec training dates. So the other night could be before or after those dates. ? It made it sound like it was just the one trip. But who knows, it was really unclear.

Whew! My interview is now set, so I can now worry and not sleep for several days. I'm sure the people I work think I've lost my mind with secret phone calls and my inability to sit still today. I'm a child on Christmas morning waiting to see if Santa (or should I say Mickey!) arrived.

Sending mounds of pixie dust good luck to all of us interviewing this week. It would be fabulous to have such incredible representation make it to the panel.

I couldn't decide what my preference would be (not that it matters). Getting it done early and waiting longer for the answer, or waiting longer for the interview and shorter for the end result. Either way this will be a long and nerve-wracking week!
