Mojitos - Where is the best place?

I just want to say that if you see the bartender using a syrup in a mojito, it doesn't necessarily mean that it is a "mojito mix." It could very well be a simple syrup (sugar and water boiled until sugar dissolves) which is called for in many drink recipes and used at many high end establishments.

When I see the mix bottle and know it's one that I've used at home myself (and dislike), I know it's a mojito mix.

Speaking of mojitos ... as we have been ... I had the *best* mojito at Bahama Breeze on Friday night (after reading about mojitos, I just had to go ...) Our waitress' shift was over after taking our order, and our appetizers arrived before the mojitos. We asked our new waitress if she could check on our drinks -- and subsequently, we got the mojitos on the house! :cool2:

Ok, I'm cheating because it's right outside of Disney World, but Bahama Breeze, which is right outside the Downtown Disney gates has the best Mojito I've ever had, with real sugar cane juice and a stick of sugar cane right in it.

Tommy Bahama Cafe out on International Drive has a good one with ginger ale and ginger (in addition to mint) - if you are leaving property. They also have good food.

As to mixes, at home, getting a good minty muddle is hard, so we drop a little mint extract into the simple syrup - and chiffonaide some mint. I'd rather have some mint extract in my mojito (or mint julep) than have mint leaves to chew through and no mint taste.

Absolutely!:thumbsup2 That post wasn't really directed at you, but rather anyone reading this and sees a bartender using a liquid in the drink. I wouldn't want them to automatically assume it is a mix and therefore a subpar mojito.
