I agree, the ONLY reason I clicked on this thread was because it said "Mods please delete". I think I would have typed in something like, "Does anyone collect rocks?" or "Never mind, duplicate post" so that people would ignore it.

Come to think of it, though, I think I've seen that thread before on the CB!

I also passed this thread before. But as I was running my mouse to check what it was about, the long post disappeared and the "please delete" post appeard. So I had to read what happened.

I don't think any thing here is a personal attack. And I hope this thread stays open, because there are a few good points here.

And, FTR, the OP had listed her hometown either here or on eBay....the name stuck with me. I won't repeat the name since she has clearly taken steps to change her location (again, I don't remmeber if I saw it here or on eBay but I just saw it today...before she asked this to be removed)

She stated on this thread and the other one on the Family board that the Freecycle idea was a good one, but the closest one was over an hour away.

Um, the town you said you live in not only has a FC group, it has a rather large one with close to 2000 members.

I didn't where the OP was from exactly but posted about Freecycle on her other thread and was told that there wasn't one within an hour. Red flags went up right away because if you are really that down on your luck, an hour is not an issue if it meant things that were desperately needed for your unborn children.

I'm not 100% computer saavy, but it was easy enough to find.

With today's internet connectivity it's so easy to snoop. And often times some interesting things pop up.

Another red flag:

no mention when the babies are due, which would be important in determining what types and sizes of clothing to donate (no point in sending newborn summer outfits for babies born in January)

And why no request for big things - carseats, cribs, etc. Those are more necessary than clothes, which you can get at any yard sale for 25 cents and wear multiple times.

Sorry, I think the whole thing is a fake.

So sad when stuff like this happens on the DIS. I become more skeptical each time (and should). You ruin your name here and people don't forget too easily.

I'm not saying she doesn't have a friend in need. But luckily there are posters here who really pay attention and aren't afraid to ask the right questions. The friend shouldn't be so picky. Anyway, if your friend is going through this horrible story than I wish her luck. But honestly, I am not a believer of your story.

Sad that people are less than honest, but not super surprising that a large Disney board would be used for a scam. I think it always serves as a good reminder that people should only give when they are ok with the idea that the person asking may not be on the up and up.

Actually, I think in one of OP's original posts (that have since been deleted by OP) she mentioned babies due in October. Figuring they are triplets and often times early, that could mean September....or even AUGUST especially with the stress she is under now.

I think she needs to take care of herself.....for the sake of her babies.

This thread is like passing by a car accident. You don't want to look, but you just can't help yourself. I, too, was lured by the 'Mod please delete' title. I wanted to see those untrue, personal attacks for myself.
