MNSSHP $$$$$

It is sad that they continue to take away things and charge more and still sell out. Pretty soon it will just be a decorated main street and spooky music and they'll be charging $150 a ticket.

Well, their $149 Disney After Hours event appears to have been a fail. Take heart that people apparently do have their limits.

For us, it's when our kids are on fall break, we can both get off work, and the resort costs are cheaper. I wish we were able to lounge around all year with nothing to do but go to Disney, but life just didn't work out that way for us.

AMEN Delirium!!! I already replied to the question but you took the words outta my mouth!

You are correct, and we did something similar a few years ago, had a quick weekend trip and bought party tickets instead of park tickets. We were there from 4pm to 12am and the party tickets were cheaper than if we had purchased 1-day MK tickets so it was good value for us. Of course, that's not saying much, given how expensive a 1-day ticket is.

It's a different story for the many visitors on vacation for the week. If you have 7-day tickets, that's an average $50+ per day, it's a lot cheaper to add another park day for only $10 than to add party tickets for $72-$95. Similarly, knocking a day off your multi-day ticket is not going to save as much money as it will cost to add party tickets. I can see how some people might not see the value of adding party tickets on top of their multi-day tickets.

We go every other year. I could see coming back on the in between years just for a party at this price, but $500 - 600 is just mind boggling on top of several thousand being spent for a week long vacation. I have already called your bet disney quit raising and just show me your cards!!!!

Do you typically buy one day park tickets? I see this comment a lot, but it's really only valid when compared to the price of a 1 day ticket (or very short multi day ticket). Those visiting 4 or 5 days (or longer) can typically add another day to their ticket for just a few dollars more. We like visiting the MK on party day so we are deep into the park well in advance of party crowds arriving. We completely avoid Main Street from 4-7. And it costs very little to do that.

How do you get out of the park????? :D

I guess I don't understand the economic issue. When we go to after hours And we do the very merry Christmas party almost every year we just don't go to any other park that day. So to me the cost of the party is still less than a day at the park. If you use a full day ticket plus a party ticket to me that would be a bad use of money. But I do realize we're lucky and go to WDW a couple times a year and may go to the parks one day out of ten days we are there

But how does that party ticket compare to what it costs you to go a full day on your AP? I'm guess you have an AP since you go multiple times a year?

The lowest price difference is 6% - the highest is 28%+. After 10% increases last year, in 2 years of 1% inflation, Disney has raised the price of the party from 16% (for the lowest ticket) to 36% (for the highest one).

That's an enormous price increase to eat over 2 years for an event where you take on all the risk (since it's non-refundable) and Disney takes on none. If it rains and they cancel most of the special events, you get nothing back. If you get sick and can't go, you get nothing back. Etc, etc...

Ughhh that makes me sick to my stomach to think about paying the $500 - 600 and getting rained out. :crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2:

I held my nose and bought tickets for my daughter and her boyfriend. She's been looking forward to doing MNSSHP for years but with no breaks from school, it wasn't going to happen until this year. The tickets will be her birthday present. Almost $100 apiece after tax for the night that she can go, with no discount for AP or DVC.

As for me, I won't be buying MVMCP tickets for my trip in December. My last Christmas party was several years ago and the crowd was so dense that it was not enjoyable. I've done the Halloween party since that miserable MVMCP and I thought that it was much nicer. But at these prices, I would need assurances that the number of tickets sold would be fewer than in previous years.

You are exactly correct, prices start at $72. However, first week of October when OP said they are going to be there, depending on the day, adult price could be $85, $91, or $95. OP is exaggerating the $30 increase, it was probably more like $15, which is still ~20% increase. For a family of 6 they are likely paying around $100 more than they would last year.

You are right, it is about a $75-100 increase for a family of 6. If we go on a cheaper party day. And I am comparing to 2014 prices.

That's not true. They won't hunt you down and give you a refund, but if it rains and they cancel important elements of the party (parade, fireworks, shows) they will often offer compensation in guest services (tickets to another party or a one day park ticket if you are leaving).

That is not in the terms. Your onsite experience in long customer service lines in the rain can be different, but there is zero guarantee you would get this...

This is why if you look up the Disney Moms Panel thoughts on the matter, they say to wait to get your tickets until you can see what the weather will be.

I'm confused by this, and forgive me if I am misunderstanding. But if you wanted to do maximum time in MK, why would you plan to go during any party period?

Parties cover a full 4 months of the year. Thats a big chunk of time to have to avoid. I already avoid the hot humid crowded summer months!

Honestly, I don't go by anything I see on the Mom's Panel. The couple times I've looked, their answers have been wrong.

But you're right, it's not stated policy. Just sharing what is typical experience in the parks. I'm sure Disney would prefer if you waited to buy tickets. It's no skin of their nose if you wait and your party sells out. They just want fewer unhappy guests to deal with when their very expensive evening rains out.

No, Disney wants 100% sell outs, so they can care less about same day weather. It's even better for them if it rains and washes out events, b/c it's cheaper for them to run the party. And it's not like they didn't warn you everywhere to wait (thus, why they have the MOMS Panel with that answer)...

And just like this year they are enforcing restaurant reservation times to kick people out of the parks, I would not depend at all on getting any reimbursement for bad weather...they are being more strict with their T&C, not less...

We've been to the Halloween party, but only my two older kids and I attended. My husband and younger kids (3 & 2 at the time) stayed in the room. We weren't attending to trick or treat, but to see the parade and fireworks, multitude of characters and low crowds for rides until midnight. It didn't make sense to us to pay the huge fee for my husband to bring the younger kids and have them leave by 9pm. We'll likely attend the party in a couple more years when the younger kids can stay awake late, and we can cross that off our list. The cost is getting ridiculous.

Yeah I can get in at 4...the most crowded time of day! Hooray! Have you ever come into the park on a party day? you have to walk sideways down mainstreet and carry your stroller over your head. :joker:

You're right it is crowded, with 7 pm - midnight party goers getting in early. Much rather pass them coming in at 6:55 on my way out. They didn't let me in at 5 a.m. that morning for a 9 a.m. open with my regular ticket. I love your visual, sounds like me on spring break wondering if i could crowd surf!

The Dells are also 12hrs away from my house. Did I miss something and everyone else on the dis lives in Wisconsin????? :rotfl2:

Here's a tip...the Dells has a Disney Outlet where you can get park merch for a deep discount. Next time you're up there, or even passing through, stop over at the store and pick up a few items to save as 'gifts' from your next trip. We scored some great Disneyland baseball caps to wear at WDW for, like, $1.50 each.

Why are we giving Dells tips on this thread!!! I live in Alabama and I want to go to WDW!!!! :dance3:

You may need to take out a loan in a few years to afford to take the "whole" family.
