MNSSHP replaced by After Hours Event "Boo Bash"

Wait, is this event seriously $150 per person for 3 hours?
Lol, yes. If Disney sells this event out expect a lot less for a lot more over the next few years in Disney
Are they your points or rented? I have rented points and haven’t gotten an email yet and am starting to worry.
I find it really unlikely that these events are going to IMMEDIATELY sell out. I really wouldn’t worry too much. Even if you have to wait until the day they go on general admission sale I’d bet anything you’ll be able to get a ticket. The idea that these events are going to be SO popular that Disney will immediately sell them out, at $150-$200 per person, before they even go on sale to the general public, seems really unlikely to me. While DAH have sold out in the past, to my knowledge they've never sold out immediately. Same thing with the holiday parties.

That does make me feel better! I guess I am just extra nervous due to the fact I can only attend the first one, and I know every vlogger in the world wants to be there!

did you have an issue with after hours before the pandemic?
I'm not the OP, but I totally get where they're coming from and definitely had the same views prior to Covid. Over the last 5 years or so, Disney has consistently been taking away stuff from regular paying guests and then reselling it at a premium and we as the consumer just keep encouraging them to keep providing less and less for more money. It's great business for Disney, just sucks for the average guests and for those who get annoyed with feeling taken advantage of over and over again.

That is a fair point. I really miss when MNSSHP was actually lower crowds, and I miss the 3 am EMHs most. I guess I just don’t understand all the vitriol towards Boo Bash from people who are comparing it to a party when it’s an After Hours!

In part because they are choosing not to offer the party and instead are offering an event that costs more and offers less.

Yep. I never had an interest in after hours OR EMM as I didn't think they were worth the price. Parties? I will do multiple while I am there and pay the dessert party upcharge to boot.

Because of the PRICE, If the BB had been say half the cost of MNSSHP I doubt there would have been even a ripple of discussion other than who is planning to go, But with it being priced $70 dollars MORE than MNSSHP for a far less comprehensive product. People are rightfully afraid that Disney will make the wrong conclusion about what they NEED to offer the guest.

Now we are part of the problem because most of us want our Disney fix so badly we pay for a severely degraded product so we visit even though the only way to hold Disney's feet to the fire is by staying away. As Disney superfans we fail the 'Two Marshmallow Test' badly because of our emotional connection to the parks. That said as a family we can afford Disney's current asking prices however we stopped going in 2018 because the VALUE was no longer equal to the price.

Before the 'parties' my ticket was good for 12-18 hours per day, Now tickets are good for 8-9 hours so effectively tickets have doubled in price The MK pre 2015 was frequently open till midnight or later with no upcharge and let's face it the park is at it's most beautiful then. Now that same experience is several hundred dollars for a family of 4 I could go on it's unnecessary we all know the score.

I don’t think it’s as much as a price issue as a marketing issue (hear me out!). Even in your reply you’re comparing it to MNSSHP instead of an after hours event (like tons of others - and like I did originally too).

As a replacement for this year they are doing an after hours event INSTEAD of a party. But lots of people looking forward to and hoping for a party are looking at it from that perspective and therefore comparing it as such. And in that light it’s super expensive and lacking. But, if you’re in it for the rides I can see how it could definitely have value IF the ticket capacity is in line with an after hours event and not the party.

Instead of doing Boo Bash I looked into getting a one day ticket for MK thinking that might make more sense for my group. The pricing is only about $20-30 difference per person for my particular date. If you consider how much time you spend in line for rides (especially if fast pass isn’t back), you might actually be able to get just as much ridden or more in three hours of 0-15 min waits 🤷🏼‍♀️

If they keep capacity the same as other DAH events, it’s not a degraded product, it’s just not the product people looking for MNSSHP wanted.

I have three DVC stays booked for dates that are having a party and I have not received any emails. It’s frustrating because I would buy tickets for at least one of those stays but I guess Disney doesn’t want my money.

Please...they'll absolutely take your money. I 100% am sure this is not an invite exclusive event...you will 100% be able to and have the grand "opportunity" to give your money to them, as long as you have a valid resort stay booked, the second it comes available for resort guests. I'm sure Disney will also be happy to take your money as soon as they give the "opportunity" to the general public as well.

So by your logic, they should increase day tickets to $200, decrease the amount they sell and everyone should be happy.

I did. I've always hated the money grabs. I think it's lame that Disney is becoming a playground for the rich. Call me bitter for being priced out I guess. I've been a huge huge fan for 30 years, making at least one or two trips a year. First it was the perks of having an annual pass cut almost to nothing. Then it was that I had to start staying off property. As of the last few years, I've had to start trying cruises and even flying to other countries because of all of the price hikes at WDW. Yes, it's far cheaper to go to Europe for a week than it is to spend a weekend driving to Disney. That's just sad. I'm sure there are a ton of people out there with more money than I, but it sure sucks for those of us who have supported Disney all our lives, to be weeded out.

Like what? I don’t see a single thing missing from this after hours?
3 hours are missing. oh wait, sorry I edited to correct. I thought you were talking about the halloween parties.

You don’t need a special email invitation to book the event early you just need to have a reservation at a Disney resort.

I think people are just afraid of Disney not ever bringing back MNSSHP at full swing once they see they can offer an overpriced after party and oversell it and the masses will still take what they can get. MNSSHP used to be touted as a low crowd event one time too but greed has taken over there. They used to "plus" everything to offer the best experience a theme park could offer, but the trend over the last several years has leaned towards raising prices but cutting corners and offering less and they absolutely CAN because so many can see no wrong in anything Disney does. But yeah, it's basically us expressing fears about the possibility of yet another beloved thing going by the wayside for the almighty dollar.
