Right then

It is only 7 and a bit weeks until i go to Disney. We are staying on site at AKL for 2 weeks.

And i keep looking at MSSSHP tickets for one of the night we are there.

I have found these prices on WDW web site.

Ticket Prices

Advance Purchase Price*
$42.95 + tax (Ages 3 - 9)
$48.95 + tax (Ages 10+)

Day-of Event Price
$49.95 + tax (Ages 3 - 9)
$55.95 + tax (Ages 10+)

I have also found what is says about the event but that does not seem a lot more than a "normal" park eveing. So therefore i want to know from people who have been to it before whether it is worth the extra money and what do you get for your $50 each.

We have the 14 day passes already. (5 Adult + Child (Aged 2)) And i assume we will be visiting MK the most out of all the parks while we are there. So is spending $250 extra just for 1 night worth it.

In the scale of things $250 on top of what we have paid is small but all these "small" things add up to loads. (Golf, Cirque du Soleil, Pal Mickey, etc....)

Or should i spend the $250 on other stuff???

Please help regards

Andy

IS IT WORTH IT?-YES!!!
you see extra shows and the halloween parade, halloween wishes etc and also have your photo taken.
you can dress up if you want to. seeing mk done up for halloween is fantastic!
and its a great atmosphere

we have a wonderful evening when we went so yes it is worth it, but I agree it is on the pricey side!

we too will be there when mnsshp is on and this advice is great for me

also you will love akl if you havent been before.

its a fab hotel. we loved staying there. just the smell of it makes it worth while imo. we might go back for a sniff this year too. :)

I think it really depends on what you want to get out of it. We went twice in 2006 - had already bought tickets for one evening and had such a great time, we decided to go back again. As previous posters have said, the Halloween fireworks and MNSSHP parade are fantastic - and they can only be seen on MNSSHP nights. There aren't many other 'differences' from normal park nights except less people (as numbers are limited), less queues for rides (as people are more interested in trick or treating and hunting out characters) and more chance to see rarer characters. We fully intend to go again, on our next visit in 2009.

Did you find this information here on the DIS listing the schedule of events from last year?

I'm in two minds about this. We've done both MVMCP and MNSSHP historically (in 2001 and 2002 respectively). I remember enjoying the Christmas party a lot more than the Halloween one. Maybe because I was more "up for it" the first time as something new. The "snow" on Main Street was certainly a novelty at the Christmas party. There were differences I can't quite put my finger on, but I felt a special vibe at MVMCP which was lacking at MNSSHP.

All that said, at MNSSHP, very much against my wishes, everyone else in our party wanted to ride Splash the minute we got there. As I feared, I got absolutely drenched and felt miserable. Then, the friends we were with, insisted on queuing at every "trick or treat" line even though the "kids" (they were all teenagers) weren't in the slightest bit interested. They wanted to get their money's worth, but they're only penny chews/jelly worms and the like (or at least they were then). To cap it all, just as the special parade ended the skies opened and we had rain like we'd never experienced before. After two and a half hours of sheltering under the canopy of The Launching Pad in Tomorrowland, watching it get progressively worse, we took off our shoes and waded through ankle deep water. The rain was still sheeting down and we were soaked to the bone within 6 paces.

Since then I've become very cynical of these evening parties. I've felt that they're just a way of getting us to part with money to experience MK during the evening. However, I am ready at long last to give it another whirl and we've bought tickets for this year's MVMCP.

i would say "definately", we have been to the halloween party back in 2001 and it was real fun, we loved trick or treating and the parade, we went to the dlp halloween event 2 years ago and it was nothing compared to the wdw event (no trick or treating) and not the same atmosphere, we are going to a mnsshp on the 16th september and the kids cant wait (neither can i).

We always buy our tickets before we go so maybe phsycologically it doesn't feel like $250,would I pay that whilst on holiday...then probably no,I would always be thinking what I could spend that money on! But hey our list so far this year is MNSSHP,HHN,HoS,Cirque & Blue Man group so what's a few extra $ between friends!:scared1:
Have a look on Youtube, you will see the parade & the Headless Horseman. There used to be a free photo included in the price but they stopped that a couple of years ago but if you are buying the photopass CD you can have MNSSHP pics added to it & in some case you are able to have "ghosts" added ie on the hearse outside Haunted Mansion.
Buy before you go it won't feel as sore!:lmao:
SD:thumbsup2

Been twice loved the first time DS was 12 so we ran round collecting bags of candy all night & very short lines for rides. Did it last year DS was 15 & DS no. 2 was 1 we did not play hunt the candy but did it at slower pace then watched parade, fireworks & left felt, with an infant it was probably a waste of money sure this is not the case for everyone but our little one fell asleep straight after the parade so we felt it was better to get our resort bus & leave. So for that reason we have decided not to do it this year but wait a few yrs & do it when DS is old enough to appreciate it.Saying that you do not have to pay anything for child under 3.

Absolutely yes!

Any of the special party nights are worth it.for the atmosphere..the extra fun..........fireworks......photo ops...........

Our Pirates and Princes night in May was a highlight of a 23 night trip. And we loved the Halloween party night in Disney HK.
It is money well worth spent imho
And we will do it all again!

Go for it and enjoy the whole night of fun and dress up too if you want to:thumbsup2 Remember to stop at the trick or treat areas where CMs will be giving out sweets.
Read about last years events and find out what to expect and you'll get a great idea of what's in store for the next ones.

If we manage to get there next year we'll be getting tickets for it as soon as they become available online. We've also been to MVMCP in the past and the atmosphere alone was worth the extra money and all the shows and night time rides were amazing.

we are going for the first time on 5th sept, we went to the christmas one a few years back and I loved it so cant wait for the halloween one

DD will be at the party on sept 9th..
i bought her the tickets online....but that was for only one person, not 5..
i can understand your hesitance....it is a lot of money....
it all adds up doesn't it
