MM Warriors Part Deux (As of October 27)

Nell: I have noticed if I don't eat at the right times I get a little disoriented too!! I love Christmas and think that it is really neat that you get to have 2 in one year!!:thumbsup2 I must have missed something what is D-Ribose?And what is it used for?

Lisa: :woohoo: on the compliment that always makes your day! Lets you know something is going right!;)

SueAnn: Sorry to hear that you have been down with your foot, hope you will be better soon, but if you rush things could do more damage than good:hug:  I would just try to do some chair exercises the best I could while waiting.

Pony: Hope Ken gets to come home for you soon!! And thanks so much for your advice, the reason that we are starting on step 2 at the holidays is that everyone at my dinner table will be on MM step 2! With the exception of the kids.:flower3: So I think we will be ok, the candy (holiday candy) never tempts me anyway so I am good there. If I had to face a lot of things off program I might be tempted to stray off the wagon, but because of this I think we will be ok.(Hopefully) I just need to make sure we keep the times right, that may be tricky. I am going to try to copy this post and save it if I can, your advice was so plain, it will help to refer back tooit!

Beverly: That is GREAT! (on weight loss being noticed):woohoo: Makes us feel so good!

Now for a couple of questions: On step 2 can we have chilli? And can we have pinto beans w/ a 1/2 sweet pot? Or would that be too many carbs at one time?
Also, on Dianes"s recipe fore pumpkin pie she mentions 3/4 cup of light cream is this half and half, sour cream, whipping cream,?? I was confused cause I can't find light cream of any sorts around here, other than sour cream if that is what it is talking about.

Oh and what does Black beans taste like??? Anything like pintos, kidney,or what could I compair it to and where do I find these?? Dry or canned? Never tried these before so would love to have some feedback on it.

Ok, have a great MM day!! Will be checking back in from time to time today if I can, have some work to do today :laundy: Off to shine my sink!!:rotfl2:

Hi Melanie - Are you a flylady too? My sink is shiny and my laundry is done. YAY!!! Doesn't it feel good to have that shiny sink!

Hi All! Getting ready to head into a 2 hour sales rally...ugh...

Melanie - definitely figure out what your 11-20 will be and no two together! 1/2 sweet potato OR the beans, but not both together unless you split the portion in half like Lisa said...figure out what 11-20's you will be eating and their portions ahead of time...my whole grain wheat thins are like 11-12 to equal less than 20g, 1/2 banana, 1 cup milk, etc....then plan which you will have at a scheduled meal. Its ok to have 1/2 sweet potato for lunch, then 1/2 cup beans at dinner, even if they are only 4 hours apart, that is not stacking...just not more than 20g legal carb at a single meal.

Bev - I cant wait to fit into my new old jeans!! That is so GREAT!!! I might just drag out a pair this weekend and leave them on the chair by my closet...inspiration, plus maybe I will get brave enough to see if I can get them on!

Lisa - I hate waiting for things people SAY they have sent too...happens all day long in my office! My fax comes straight to my desk, but apparently some people's idea of "I'll send it out right now" means the next day! Drives me nuts. AWESOME about the 9 pounds!! Im going to weigh at the gym on my next "less fluffy" feeling day...havent weighed in 5 weeks, so this should be interesting!

Cindy, Melanie, etc - GO you FLYLADYS!! Shiny sinks for everybody!!:cool1:

OK Fine...I have to go to the darn rally...not in the mood to sing songs and have a run at the spirit stick...maybe I will pretend I am cheering on all my MM's instead!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Lisa, I'm glad that your numbers looked a little better. I know that it's more helpful for you to see them than most. Your doing such a great job they are just going to continue to improve! Try to let the stress from airhead agents roll off of you.

I agree, Robin does not need D-Ribose. That would be like giving the road runner a red bull!:hyper:

Beverly, what if you put another flavor into the green iced tea to pep up the flavor? Like a little peice of ginger root or something like that? Just an idea.

There you go Robin! Cheer us on! I hope your sales rally isn't too long!:cheer2:

Her offer got stuck in her fax machine?? Gosh, when I send one, I'm kinda anxious to make sure it transmitted, but oh well! We'll need to counter so now I get to have a long conversation with my client on the subject of the truth the market is saying. Wish me luck!:3dglassesSecret Agent, that's what I call the ones that don't show up to do their job, lol!

Jocelyn,
The black bean recipe is one I found on a low carb site and I don't know why it has those A things in front of some of the measurements. When I copy and pasted it that's how it came out. I'm thinking that I would disregard them and just go for the 1/3 cup or whatever is next. Those measurements seem appropriate. Let me know how it turns out, would you? I think I have found an oriental store that carries the dried black soy beans and am looking forward to trying out more recipes with them. The canned ones are just too expensive. I did make the chili last week for our church Halloween party and it turned out awesome! You really couldn't tell that they were soy beans. And they were only 1 gr carbs per cup. What a wonderful treat! I will try to make refried beans with them and some of the mexican dishes that i have missed having.

Well, got my glasses fixed yesterday and can now see again. Whew! I was going cross-eyed trying to see with my sunglasses, but couldn't manage without some kind of prescription eyewear.

Step 2 is going okay. Like everyone else, I would rather have stayed on step1 for the whole time as it was so much easier. I find myself being annoyed that I have to figure out an 11-20 and can't just get a string cheese or something simple. I haven't been getting them in with all my meals, especially dinner. It seems like I'll be due for an 11-20 at 5:30 or 6:00 and then we don't get dinner ready until 6:30. So, I have been eating my carb before dinner and then just not having one with the meal. Is this okay? It's less than 1 hour before we eat and I think it would be stacking if I had another one in less than an hour. Also, does anyone know if there's a time limit between dinner and the bedtime snack? Sometimes I want to go to bed early and find myself waiting up so that my dinner and snack aren't too close together. Anybody know if there's a time limit here?

Just don't have the time to go back over all the posts I've missed but hope life is treating you all well. Thoughts of comfort go out to any of you that need it.

Love to Ya'll
Carol
Step 2

Feast upon the Words of Christ

Tried on my good leather jacket knowing it wouldn't quite button yet. I could wear it, but it won't button. Found a movie ticket in the pocket for a movie that was playing New Years Eve of 2006, lol! Good gravy, why did it take me 3years to get back into my jacket? So, I have a goal for the end of 2009 to button that jacket again! :yay:

Good Morning ALL

Carol - thanks for the reply. I will make the chili today as I have some frozen and then I can make another batch in the crock-pot tomorrow.

Yes, the cans are expnsive. I was at our Target yesterday and bought a few more bags - they have quite an Oriental section there, but think it is a local thing. Not sure.

I have a recipe somewhere for re-fried beans with the black soy beans and now cannot locate it. I'll look further, but think it was to mash them, cook some bacon and crumble it and mix all together. I'll hunt further for portions. I use them in our taco meat all the time.

Lisa - great on the weight loss:yay: and grrr to brokers or agents who can't figure out what they are doing!!!!!:confused3

Nell - I had to laugh at giving Robin D-Ribose was like putting the bull and Roadrunner together - definitely not needed!!

I think those getting the carb/fiber count book will appreciate the info in it. I paid $15.00 for mine several years ago.

Hi Kathy - I'm not sure I can visualize your walls - but it is the latest thing. We are very neutral in our colors, but with warm tones. Since our place is all windows we don't even have many walls!!!

Cindy - glad to hear you are doing well.

Have a great rest of the day - I'm off to the gym and then a "Paws and Claws Day" as my hubby calls manicure and pedicure. Dinner is all ready so I will not have to do anything when I get back!!

Refried (Black Soy) Beans

Ingredients:
2 15-oz cans Eden Organic Black Soy Beans
6 slices bacon (cut into tiny pieces)
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
black pepper to taste
chili powder to taste
2 tablespoons heavy cream

In a large skillet, cook bacon until done (but not crispy.) Set aside. (You are going to "fry" the beans in the bacon grease and bacon bits.)

Drain 2 cans of black soy beans. Put them into blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Add butter and bacon pieces to the bacon grease in the skillet and heat to melt. Add black soy bean-blended mixture, garlic salt, black pepper and chili powder. Mix thouroughly. Add cream and continue to cook on very low heat for 10 minutes or so, allowing cream to add extra thickness and creaminess.

Serves 6. 2.5 net grams of carbohydrate per serving.

I'll add this to the recipe link. I'm not sure why I haven't tried this before as we love food like this!!!:)

I'll have to check my Target. Right now I have Lipton, and even when I nuke it for 2.5 minutes with the teabag in the cup it doesn't seem very strong. I gave up diet soda a week ago, so I would like to have an alternative to hot tea and water.

Beverly: I use a big mug at work and I like my tea strong so I usually use two teabags..... Often I will use one green tea bag and one mint tea bag so I don't get too much caffiene!

Flaky agents drive me nuts. One called me while I was driving last night and said an offer was coing in when she got home to fax it. It's still not here. Now, I have to look every 5 minutes all day! Grrrrrr. I would never do that to someone! If I say, I'm doing something, I do it. Getting off soapbox! Hey, at least I'm thinner today, LOL!:yay:

Flaky attorneys drive me nuts. I have two that keep telling me that they are going to get documents to me and then nothing happens.... I then have to explain to my clients why everything takes so long (which is tough when I don't really even have an explanation). GRRRRRRRRRR

That's a hard reality now isn't it? How much someone thinks his house is worth v. what it is worth to the person buying. I think it can feel so personal also.

It's really hard to tell them "What you need out of your house doesn't determine its worth", but I have to do that a lot. Hey, at least we have a starting place so it'll work out most likely.

I LOVE mint green tea! That's a really, really good idea to mix them yourself.

Good afternoon ladies and gentleman! I hope all is well with you all.
Can't remember who said about not liking sponging. I have actually done it before. It turned out really nice. You have to be careful how close together you "sponge." It can look crowded if too concentrated.
I'll get some photos uploaded for you all to see. It may take me until the weekend.
Still feeling tired. Don't know what happened. I was feeling so good there for a while. Thought maybe the tiredness was a thing of the past. Guess not :(
Still reading my fatigue book though. It is very interesting. Lots of ideas.
Ok, going to eat my supper. Having a western omlet tonight.
Catch you all later unless I fall asleep first! And if I don't get back, sweet dreams all!!

Well, go figure...I didnt want to go to the sales rally, I mumbled and grumbled and complained...( hard to believe, I know! ) they gave us each a raffle ticket on the way into the conference room like usual, they gave away a bunch of $10 gift cards, then 2 for $25...(80 sales agents, plus a team of 20 trainers and retention agents) then the last one was $100....drum roll...guess who got the $100 card!! Whoo hooo! Pony NEVER wins anything...I was psyched!!

That is awesome! Where is the gift card to?

Lisa, I know you'll get into your coat soon!

Kathy, sweet dreams if you don't get back!

Carol, the times that I'm having my carb dam's are not always corresponding with meal time either. I'm not sure how to handle it if the meal isn't ready and it's time.

WOOOHOOOOOWOOOOHOOOOO!:banana: What are you going to use it for?

I have quite a few things that I have held onto! I think you should wear the jacket on New Years Eve this year!

Kathy: You are probably adjusting to the time change. If you have challenges with fatigue anyway, it can hit you pretty hard. Try to ease into a new schedule 15 minutes per day and see if that helps.:)

Robin: Congrats on the loot! WhoooHoooo!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Kate: I’m really hoping to wear that jacket for New Years this year! It’s nice to have a goal.popcorn::This is where I was when I wore the jacket and what got me into trouble in the first place!

My client is doing ok with the sobering news on her sales price. I, on the other hand, could have a headache if I let myself, lol!:surfweb:
