MM Warriors Part Deux (As of October 27)

Good night Kathy!

Bev - that sounds YUMMY!!!

Lisa - since Tutu isnt here...NO BEING A SLUG!! Time to Exercise!!

Out of here in a few minutes and winging it to the gym! Later!!:drive:

You said it, sista! Glad you had the Chinese. That sounds so good to me! We had Greek salads in front of the TV - vegging out tonight. I have to go freeze some more grapes - you reminded me!:happytv:

Greek salad sounds good! I had my broccoli soup and decided to have triscuts with it.

Oh, got the tree up. It's mighty pretty. :thumbsup2 Every year I say I think this is the prettiest tree we've ever had. But every year I mean it!

I hope everything goes ok with my parents coming down. My mom says she's packed, but they don't know when they are leaving. Probably not for another week at least. We'll see.

My neighbors probably think I'm a crackpot cause you can see the lights of the tree through the window. Oh well. At least I didn't decorate outside!

Daniele, I'm sorry that you get confused by the 11-20's too. It looks like you're doing okay tho, just eating at your own times and not the conventional meal times. I do fine at breakfast and lunch as these are meals I eat by myself. Dinner is eaten with the whole family. People's schedules and distractions make it hard to have an exact time set for it. With two small children to deal with ( 1 and 3 ) I plan for a certain time but that can change so quickly. I will then eat my 11-20 and make sure the remainder of my meal is consumed within the next hour. If I eat an 11-20 when dinner is delayed and then another one within 1 hour, I think I would definitely be stacking. What to do? This is not a planning issue, it is a life issue. S@#T happens! Am I really messing up?

I always have a bedtime snack and most nights I wake up to go potty and drink a glass of milk. I do not have high bp, high cholest or elevated blood sugar so I'm not being guided by lab work. Just trying to follow the program to the best of my ability, but have to admit that step 2 is a lot harder for me. I've been on it for about 3 wks and will weigh at 4 wks to see if I'm doing okay.

Carol
Step 2

Feast upon the Words of Christ

Nell: I bet your tree is beautiful! Your parents will be so happy to be with you for Thanksmas!:santa:It's not so crazy to decorate early. We have a neighbor that will be out the morning after Thanksfgiving with his outdoor lights. He always beats us no matter what! I'm doing my tree as soon as my son goes home. Gives me something to look forward to.

Nell - You will have such a nice extended holiday season. I plan on putting up the tree the day after Thanksgiving. Last year we were moving January 1 so the holiday was cut short because I had to pack everything up right after Christmas. I have been listening to Christmas music in the car. I love it!!

My brother had a tumor on his bladder removed on July 22. The dr. said it hadn't invaded the wall of the bladder and everything was fine. He went back for his 3 mo. check-up and there was a tumor again. He had it removed yesterday. My sisters and I want him to go to Sloan Kettering in NYC - he says if it comes back he'll go there. Please keep him in your prayers.

I haven't heard anything from last Thursday's job interview. They said I would hear by the end of the week - so I'm hoping to hear something positive tomorrow. (fingers crossed)

I'm off to bed. Have a good night everyone! See you in the morning, Diane

Diane: My Mom was diagnosed with bladder cancer last Fall. She had one reoccurance after surgery so another surgery and then she is on a 3 year treatment program of so many weeks on and so many off. They put a solution based from the tuberculosis virus into the bladder as a 'wash' you hold for two hours. It kills the cancer cells and doesn't hurt the rest of your body. I hope your brother's doctor knows of this treatment because it is supposed to be really effective. We will be praying for him. The good news is that if it hasn't escaped the bladder, it is very treatable and has a very high cure rate.

Good luck on the job! I'll be holding good thoughts for you!

You all left me alone too long so I strayed over to the other board. OMG, those people are eating carb dams on a schedule and meals whenever they want to besides and telling everyone else to do that. Carol's challenge with dinner timing once in awhile is nothing compared to how they are ignoring Diane's formula. I don't see how they could get it so wrong. Carol, you have my respect for getting dinner on the table at any time of night with two little ones! I don't know if it would help you to look at the timing a little backwards? I tell myself I cannot eat dinner until after____ because I know I've had a snack at around 3, instead of seeing the time running out and then adding in a snack. Even if you had to feed the kids a bit before yourself, could you sit down with the family and begin your dining after your 5 hours? Would that work maybe? Not to give you the impression that you are 'messing up' as you asked because all in all I'm sure you are doing great, just bouncing ideas around.

Whew, back from the gym...3 miles on the treadmill has Pony very tired!!

Lisa - I know what you mean about "over there"...I stray to read once in awhile and get so disgusted I never bother to continue after a couple of the threads...you are so right...they are messing up big time from the way Diane has set the plan up, but hey, its their deal and Georgia and KW are "moderating" away so I just keep Thanking GOD that we are no longer subject to their BS!! and I dont mean blood sugar ladies!!

Carol - I dont think you are messing up at all...just remember that putting in a carb dam even an hour before a meal that will include an 11-20 is NOT stacking on step 2!! Diane says you MUST put that dam in , and then go ahead and have the 11-20 with the meal...she says it is not unusual to have 6 or more 11-20 in a day. Apparently the theory is that the continued "gentle carb" feedings are highly preferable to letting the liver dump that bagel!!

Diane - Will be praying for your brother to have positive results this go round, and I too, know that bladder cancer is very curable, so hopefully this time the tumor will not return. I agree that step 2 is much harder than step 1, but we need to move on, and hopefully step 2 will eventually become as natural to us as step 1 became. Lisa definitely seems to have the hang of it, so Im pretty positive it will come for us too.

Nell - you need to post some pictures of your Christmas decorating...maybe then I will get in the mood! I have always been one to put the tree up only a couple weeks before Christmas, then I am taking it right down again before New Years!! I do leave some other decorations up longer, like wreaths on the doors, and my Nativity Scene, but the tree....that just has to go!! I know, I am SO weird sometimes!!

Ken is getting ready to strangle the Chinese!! Apparently they are trying to change things along the way, so he has had to retain an attorney ( solicitor as he calls it ) to get things back on track. He wants to get home so bad, but is afraid that if he leaves before things are settled that they will go behind his back and make changes that arent in the contract. Sigh...I just keep telling him to take care of business and not to worry about me...I mean seriously, where am I going to go? LOL, not like theres a line of sexy, available, romantic men outside my door!!:lmao:

Robin: Poor Ken! I hope he's coping well with the added stress and that he gets to come home soon.

I think you really brought the concept of the carb dams into focus with that post. Instead of rushing to have one before the meal and counting it as the one that should be with the meal, there should really be two - the 'emergency one' and the one with the meal, even if they are fairly close together. I bet it has a lot more to do with how foods combine with each other than we know and that's why we really need to have our 11 - 20's at mealtime even if we had a dam before. Thanks!

Hope you all had a great night's sleep. It is still Thursday here, though!

I found some 2 carb pasta sauce at Costco today - absolutely no added sugar. I bought 3 bottles so hope it is edible!! We will try one and if we don't like it I'll return the others. They ddn't have a huge amount and it seemed to be going fast. I think a lot more people watch the carbs than the stores realize. I used to make everything from scratch, but the back doesn't allow that so anything that is pre-done and good is a great find for me. Safeway also had the reduced carb catsup. They had if for one day in June and then not again until today. I walk by the aisle everytime I go there!! We have been eating pasta with the Shirataki noodles for the past 2 nights. They are a great 0 carb substitute for pasta that we have gotten used to.

Robin - what a great surprise to win $100.00. Always fun to get a treat like that. Poor Ken -the Chinese definitely operate differently than we do....We were in China earlier this year and you cannot believe all of the building that is going on there - huge buildings and highways. It was quite interesting, but not a place I would hurry back to. They do have beautiful gardens and detailed artwork that must take hours to accomplish. We went to an embroidery factory that the most exquisite hand done "paintings" we have seen.

Will "see" you all later in the day.

Love to ALL:love:

Jocelyn: Rats! I was at Costco today and didn't look at the sauce. Thanks for the tip. I'll look for sure next time. That's really low carb sauce! I like the fish at Costco. Handy to keep on hand.

Have a good night! I'm watching some Project Runway. I used to make all my own clothes in high school.

I found a sauce at bjs that was 4carbs and 2 fiber and no added sugar. Well it is starting to get cold here in NY so I took out 2 of the winter coats ive worn. One was too big and the other is just right. could not zip it last winter. This is a sample of my eating tell me what you think.

6am piece of string cheese
9am apple with 2slices of cheese or protein shake atkins
11- chicken on lite wheat bread with low fat mayo lettuce. cuke slices with low fat ranch
330 1/8 slice pumpkin pie with lite whip cream or sf jello with lite whip cream
realize dinner will be late so eat pk of wheat crackers or 1/2 banana
530 hamburg with bleu cheese on 100 calorie wheat bun with cottege cheese and green beans.
930 wheat cracker with pb
do not snack during nite

I am mantaining but could lose I think when I can excercise. going to check out stationary bike tomorrow. so its off to work I go:teacher:

Good Morning! Sunny and warming up again here, looks like a beautiful weekend ahead for a change! Might get to put my garden to bed for the winter on Sunday finally.

Lisa - I only started to really understand the carb dam/meal correlations after many e-mails from Diane regarding my own menus...I think I finally have the concept down and I do think its working for me this time. She is really not concerned with how many 11-20 in a day, in fact more seems to be better, especially for those with erratic meal times. The only stacking we need to worry about is more than 20g at one time. I have been disregarding those 2 free 5x5 we are allowed, as it IS stacking to put them together with an 11-20 we are having( if the two together is over 20g)...the 5x5 has to be 2 hours apart from any 11-20. So for now, I just pretend they dont exist!! Maybe some day in the future I will find a way to work them in, but for now, staying strict to a schedule seems to be the best way for me.

Jocelyn - Ken agrees that there is some beauty to the country and the technology is amazing, but apparently it is their compulsiveness and detail-oriented nature that is causing him trouble...these oil contracts are already quite detailed and trying to change things midstream just isnt part of the deal! Hope the sauce is good, I had got some 2g at Trader Joes and it was just passable, nothing I would buy again.

SueAnn - hope you find an exercise bike and that it wont bother your foot. The fact that the coat fits means that you are on track and the plan is working in spite of the inability to exercise much! As for your menu, you are definitely going far too long between that 9:30 PM feeding, and then not having an 11-20 at 6am...means you are going almost 12 hours without an 11-20!! that means your liver is feeding you a bagels worth of glycogen TWICE during that time!! The whole concept of eating in the middle of the night was tough for me, and I never did it on step 1 or when I moved to step 2. Diane made me start setting an alarm to get up and eat at 3:30am, both on my step 1 repeat, and now on step 2...and I know Nell has her alarm set to go off every 4 1/2 hours to feed herself too...the whole idea is to keep your body fed with the gentle carbs of step 2, so the liver and pancreas dont start over-reacting again...You are eating 6 11-20 a day but all in a 12 hour period...you really need to space them out more...do you get up at the same time every day? Try this:
6am - string cheese with 11-20 crackers or fruit

9am - legal snack (shake or what have you) but NO 11-20

11am - lunch including 11-20

3:30 legal snack with 11-20

5:30 - dinner with 11-20

9:30 - 10:30 bedtime snack with 11-20

3am - 11-20 snack, maybe a cup of milk?

This would space out your 11-20 nicely, plus prevent those 2 liver feedings!! Same 6 11-20, but spaced out properly! You dont need to do one at 6, then again at 9, and again at 11...skip the 9am, since you know you will have one at 11 with lunch.

I know I am sounding like step 2 police here!! Trying to help, I SWEAR!!

Good morning MMer's!! Hope all is well with you all. Beautiful morning here. Chilly, but the sun is shining so brightly!!
Feeling good this morning even with the soreness in my legs now. What the heck is going on with this body? Driving me nuts! My back is feeling a lot better now.

Running late, washing clothes :laundy: before work. Catch you all later! Have a great day everyone.

Let us know how the pasta sauce is. I have to go to Costco this weekend and will look for it. I don't mind those Shirataki noodles either...

Lisa - there are 7 of us in my family and we all eat at different times. It's a struggle but it's the only way I can keep on track too. We all don't eat the same things either. I usually make 2 or 3 different things to accommodate everyone. It's the only thing that works here and I don't end the wonderful time we have with fights.

Good morning. Still dark here in CA. We had a little rain yesterday. I am not sure what the forecast is for today. I have a busy day today. Lots of clients coming to see me. DH had to work all night the last three nights in a row. And he had to work his "regular" hours too. I am sure he is exhausted. Since Tuesday, I have only seen him to kiss him good-bye. :sad2: I hope he doesn't have to work this weekend and can catch up on his sleep....

Diane & Lisa - I will keep your brother and mother in my thoughts. Lisa - that treatment sounds interesting.

Nell - I am glad you have your tree up. Who cares if your neighbors think you are a loon? Tell them it is a MM thing and they should see Robin who walks around talking to herself and rubbing her tummy!

Kathy - I hope you have more energy today!

You all left me alone too long so I strayed over to the other board.

I am borrowing Tutu's zapper! ZAP ZAP! Isn't it funny how we can spy on them and they don't know it? :cool2: :3dglasses What would be funny is if they are spying on us!:rolleyes1

Morning Kate! I was thinking maybe I could rub my tummy and pat my head at the same time...remember when you used to try to do that? dont think I am coordinated enough to do it now either!! LOL its amazing I can do the treadmill, read and talk on the phone at the same time without falling off and having the thing shoot me off the back!!:lmao: Sorry hubby is so tired, I know that feeling when Im doing the 12 hour Saturdays...no OT this saturday , but am working 14 hours on the 14th!! OMG!

Kathy - sorry you are sore and wondering whats going on...is all this new?

Cindy - sounds like meals are tough, but I agree its not worth fighting over...keep the peace, everyone gets fed and you get to enjoy your family!

I am off to feed ponies, pack lunch, buy a lottery ticket :woohoo:, and head off to work...

Have a great MM day everyone!!:grouphug:

Have a good night! I'm watching some Project Runway. I used to make all my own clothes in high school.

My sisters and I learned how to sew in 4-H. I made some of my clothes in high school. My girls each have sewing machines. I still have a little Singer Featherweight (sp?) that my godmother gave me when I was in 4th or 5th grade. The girls use theirs to change-up the clothes they buy at the store although my younger daughter does make somethings from scratch - she doesn't usually use a pattern.

Two of my sisters each raised a pig in 4-H. Simon and Gar were their names. My younger sister showed her pig at the fair. I will never forget it - she looked so tiny in the ring and the pig looked looked SO big! Of course, the pig stopped to pee while she was walking around it around the ring for the judges and she was mortified. That is the part that she will never forget! We ate those pigs....
