MM+ never materialized?

From the link:
"This isn't anything Disney's provided details on, yet."

Where are the official press releases if what Disney has provided officially?

I'm sorry I don't understand why you are attacking me. I am fascinated with this topic, I have provided several articles as support to discuss. I'm not looking for an argument. I don't think I have to have comments approved by anyone first.

There is definitely enough reading material to give one the impression that Disney had something really cool up its sleeve, and I am following up on it.

I am on my phone at the moment, so I'm not entirely sure, but I believe the OP has a link to the collection of press releases that he compiled over the roll out period in his signature.

That's the archive I am referring to.

I was simply asking the OP to point me to the specific press releases and marketing materials that he is using as the basis for his statements that the Disney PR machine was touting all of these features.

Beyond what I listed as my own observations, I really don't know of any others and was hoping that you might be able to list a few beyond just the bands themselves which I already indicated I feel don't do much more than the KTTW cards did.

See, something like that is exactly what I was really hoping for and feel would be substantive. The possibilities of using the collected data to build strong guest loyalty are immense. Awarding and keeping track of points for various activities and transactions would be an easy add to MM+ and could be redeemed for so many things - maybe even additional FP's !!
Disney doesn't need a loyalty card when people keep coming back, even though they claim to be so dissatisfied with the state of things.

Second paragraph, first sentence says, This isn't anything Disney's officially provided details on yet. Heck, Disney's still working on inventing some of this technology." so, why would you hedge your expectations on what they are stating as speculation?

Oh my, Niles says that about pandora. Of course they aren't here yet. It's not open. But he mentions the idea of The Theme Park as a Platform idea which had been discussed and referenced in my first article. These were ready to roll out in October 2013. I watched them add pieces and monitors and queue elements. It's been two years they have been shelved. So I wonder if the Avatar pieces will be kept or eliminated also.

This really isn't a controversial topic. One can read what the big new innovative was...and then judge if any of it has been implemented.

First off, there was no attack.

I would like to read the press releases.

What in the world? Have the guardians been released on this thread?

A loyalty card would be fun! I hope you weren't referring to me being dissatisfied? I have made it clear that I had a blast in DLR and WDW.

I searched and saw no press releases.

I saw a time article, a handful of links to a few blog articles and a time line. I saw no official press releases announcing that features were promised.

Happy to read them if they are provided.

Do they have to be press releases to be relevant?

Is anyone doubting that MM+ was initially envisioned to have some aspects that have not been fully (if at all) realized? I don't want to be presumptuous, but I thought this was common knowledge.

When one claims a company says something, to should be a press release and not a string of articles reminding the reader that Disney has not said anything official.

Before I get up on arms that Disney has not delivered, I would like to know what they actually said.

It is tantamount to going to Disney and a CM telling you something is a definite. Such statements are not accepted as formal announcements for good reason.

So are we talking bait and switch or are we talking--"hopes and dreams" of what is possible.

What is on the record, so to speak?

This is not an attack, it is asking for the information that was delivered straight from the horse's mouth without any language to indicate it is not official.

In journalism, a press release or a first person interview with someone speaking on authority of an organization are necessary to separate fact from speculation.

I just can't get upset because one article in one paragraph told me Cinderella would address my daughter by name as a sign that Disney failed to deliver.

So no, I wasn't envisioning all that stuff and when I hear about it I think, that would be cool. But it ends there.

If anything to Dis has taught me over the years--what is officially announced matters most. Has they officially announced and marketed Cinderella and company greeting by name as they officially announced and marketed their beloved Yeti's activity, then we would have something and Disney say--aha, Disney said this officially and look what did or did not happen.

So I requested official documentation. That is not a personal attack, it is requesting a specific item that will lend credence to Disney saying along that this would happen.

As such, this more seems to be a discussion on rumors of if that will ever manifest because this far, the door does not seemed to be closed.

How did I not know that? Do you or your DH work at Disney then?

An unfortunate typo I missed. Should say "since we can". I and not worked for Disney since 1997 at Vero Beach. (I do mention that on occasion when relevant.). Never did get to take advantage of CM perks.

(Tried looking but lots of posts today. Looks like it may have been part of a larger post. So alas, the typo stands unless I happen across it again. But I assure you I do not work for the mouse at this time.)

Well, that's a bummer. I thought you worked there and could get your DIS friends all sorts of fun perks. :p

I have a relative who does, but I have never hit her up for any perks. Lol. She did give me parade passes recently. But by the time we touched base again, I had already left the park. She was busy that day. I want her job. :-)

This was a very good article I read regarding MM+. Among other things, creative plans for MM+ are discussed therein.

I legitimately thought most knew about these plans. I haven't read that article in awhile, but as I've said before, I got the impression these elements weren't implemented either because the project went over budget and past deadline, or because of pushback from Imagineers, or because of guests' concerns (such as privacy). These were just impressions that I got - not swearing by anything.

I don't understand the insistence on press releases. Disney's execs have gone on the record with reporters. I'm not sure why those statements would not be relevant.

Thanks. I will give it a look.

I never knew anything on a level where I expected it. Can't promise I didn't catch a mention prior to implementations. But certainly not the awareness where I feel like something is missing that was supposed to be.

To be clear, I don't think anyone is saying Disney promised us X, and Disney broke its promise.

I think it's more like - all these cool ideas were being batted around ... did any of them make it to the parks or did they all end up on the cutting room floor?

I'm sorry, I thought you were referring to the DIS Archives. Anyway, seems moot now as the OP has responded to you with specifics. Don't mind me:)

That was my impression of the OP's original intent. I've read a bunch of comments from Disney execs in articles since this all began. I don't remember which ones they were, nor do I care to go back and try to figure out which ones they were - but I definitely read a lot of comments from Disney execs about interactivity to have the belief that that was an intended part of MM+ at some point. At this point, I would agree with the OP that those elements haven't really appeared. Perhaps they still will. But I consider any public statement from a Disney exec - whether it's in an article in Time, a post or comment on the Disney official blog, or an actual press release - to be an official statement from Disney. I didn't think that was controversial.

Well, some people have referred specifically to press releases, so I thought that they existed. If there are no press releases addressing this, then fine.

If we are now talking about comments made in interviews that is something else again.

I have heard things about some of these interactive possibilities that MM+ would have, but I guess I looked at them as things that would be coming in the future, not necessarily within a year and a half after the paper FP machines were first removed from the parks. I have also taken some of the elements like including short personalized ride videos into your Photopass pictures as early implementations of this capability. Maybe it was my imagination, or maybe I saw it fast because we were walking past it quickly, but I think one time when we were passing through the line at TSMM one of the Etch a Sketches showed "Good Morning (some girl's name)". I didn't think much of it.

I still go back to my original point that I think it is much too early to conclude that some of these things "never" materialized. When I look back at Disney's early discussions about MM+, I see a lot more references to Magic Bands, MDE, integrating systems, and FP+ than I do about adding more interactive elements to the parks.

Comments made on the record are comments made on the record.

It seems your impressions of when things would be rolled out are different than the OPs. Neither is wrong. Based on the pace these days, my impression is probably more in line with yours. If it's done at all (and I'm doubtful we'll see much in the way of this), it will probably be some time in the future. I will be surprised if there is much new implemented before my March trip. (For the record, I am looking forward to it just the same :)).

I took "never" to mean "up to now", although I have gathered, from one place or another that some of these interactive elements have been abandoned. No source for that - just what I have gathered from stuff I've read. I feel like the company has backed off from those elements, but is leaving the door open.

Again, I didn't read OP's post as being mad at Disney about this - just wondering, hey - what happened with that other stuff that was discussed?
