MM+ never materialized?

I think that people are putting way too much emphasis on "press releases". To the extent that someone introduced that concept into the thread, it was clearly an error or overstatement. Press releases are not where companies explain new technological advances. Instead, they are discussed in "on the record" interviews in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, New York Times or Business Week or in panel discussions such as D23. If anyone is looking for press releases either for support or refutation of the idea that MM+ was supposed to include cool stuff like characters greeting you by name, you can stop looking. Read articles that quote Disney execs instead. Press releases are where you will find personnel announcements and corporate acquisitions.

Thank you for explaining. So
Lacking a formal announcement, it sounds like emphasis was placed on smaller features, more secondary features by guests. While the company perhaps focused on the primary features.

I don't think secondary features are off the table unlike the poor Yeti who will stay as the disco ball Yeti since his foundation broke.

So bcrook...... you're saying that you were looking forward to getting back to the parks to see what improvements had been made on the MM+ program? And in the end they did not "surprise and delight" you?

Lol. uh...no! This didn't turn out to be a happy ending.

It's official. All aspects of MM+ Are a downer now.

Lock the thread throw away the key. I'm tired of defending Disney. Apparently I was the last person on the planet holding out for the transformative experience. Lol.

I appreciate the conversation along this journey though. It was fun chatting with everyone again.

I'm right there with you, bud. I was hoping there would be some cool things as well. Disappointing to see it shown that there aren't and may never be.

This is definitely not true. While companies with a significant consumer presence may not use press releases to explain technological advances, they will use them to announce things that impact the general public.

I apologize if my request for links to the press releases referred to in the thread has taken the thread off track.
Between those references, and the OP's earlier references to the "Disney PR Machine" and "promotional materials", I thought he was referring to things that were a lot more formal than quotes in articles that include discussion about several other aspects of MM+.

I guess it remains to be seen if some of these things never materialize, or if they just haven't materialized yet.

The OP also refers to ordering meals in advance like at BOG. On our last visit in May they were testing this kind of ordering at Backlot Express and Fantasmic. Is that no longer going on?

ETA: Here are some examples of Disney Company press releases that do not relate to personnel or acquisitions:

https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/di...novative-approach-early-learning-disney-imagi

https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/di...am-super-powered-sequel-disney-infinity-marve

And here's one example from a competitor:

https://media.universalorlando.com/...27752&Src=tcm:70-32015-64&Src=tcm:70-32016-64

It would not be unreasonable to expect press releases about something like Next Gen or MM+. But, apparently I am being told they don't exist. No problem.

Read the story Blue... It's all in there.

Nope.

Just disappointing to many of us who knew that they had installed the screens, then never used them.

Makes me wonder what else might have been built/bought/installed and not used.

I took it a little differently. I felt like the magicbands were part of the infrastructure that would serve a greater purpose: namely implementing these ground breaking interactive features in the parks and the attractions. Somewhere along the way, it didn't work out. I think pushback from Imagineers was a big part of it.

Given initial bugs and the time to get things running smoothly, I, personally, would not rule it out yet.

With the first sentence you take issue and with the balance the paragraph you concur. I can't tell you how many press releases for my company I have had to review, redact and "bland". They are not used to announce new innovations.

I apologize if my request for links to the press releases referred to in the thread has taken the thread off track.
If it matters, (and it shouldn't), I was in no way targeting you in my post. But...gracious apology noted.

You know, I am a pessimist by nature, but I actually don't rule it out. I don't think it's a focus right now, but if they want to implement something in the future, the infrastructure is there. I don't think we'll see anything any time soon, but I don't rule it out.

Have a great trip!
