That said, serving beer/wine at the sit-down restaurants (for consumption only in the restaurant) wouldn't be a bad thing.

I wouldn't mind that, but I don't personally want to see any full bars added nor should beer and wine be allowed outside of restaurants in the MK.

Epcot is the only place I've ever seen anyone that seems to be drunk. And that was during the Wine festival.

Even some of the videos posted on this thread.... how can you tell they are really drunk???

I know people that behave that way stone-cold-sober! ..... ummm... except the gentleman in the yellow sleeveless shirt.... he was just off his rocker!!

But the woman sitting on the bench..... just because she is holding a beer??! .... IMHO, she was not out of control at all.

MK can control it to start with and they will see it's not a big deal.

I think it can be handled well. Honestly I've never seen the people falling over railings drunk at Epcot. Ever. I've never seen a drunk at AK or DHS either. I think if there's going to be a drunk at MK, and they have that bad of a problem, they're going to find a way to sneak it in. (DH's ex-gf and her friends did)

I would definitely enjoy a spiked Dole Whip, lol, or a nice cold beer with a hotdog at Casey's. To me, a drink is like a dessert-- a nice compliment to a meal, and you only have one.

I think adding alcohol sales to MK would be a welcome addition in terms of revenue and it would make the MK experience just a little more enjoyable after a toddler meltdown.

I agree that drinks at select locations could work (similar to AK or HS), however I've always thought the major potential was in ticket events for adults. MK does private corporate parties fairly regularly and serve alcohol (lots of it). Open these ticketed events to the public once a month (even quarterly) late on a Saturday night, and the people would come and pay a hefty premium. I would....

I think some of the restaurants might improve (at least for me) if they DID serve alcohol.
But in the MK I would hope that would be it--absolutely NO wandering around the park swilling beer out of a paper cup. IN the restaurants ONLY. Nothing sold at a kiosk, etc.
And by the way, my guess is that it's nothing BUT a rumor...

My thoughts exactly! No wandering around with a 'to go' cup. Just at
restaurants and maybe just at dinner! Not selling alcohol in MK doesn't stop people who have been drinking from going. It is too easy to hop a monorail and grab a few!
I have wanted to start a thread about this but was afraid of the fallout Yup I am a chicken!

Well maybe, maybe not. In DL there is no alcohol except inside Club33. In DCA there is. However you can get beer and wine to go, though not 100% of the time. But cocktails can not be taken out of the location they are served except for two instances. Since the beginning of last summer there has been a party on Hollywood Blvd that served glowing mojitos and other specialty drinks from a cart so you could take those around. Also there is a margarita stand. It's is certainly not a free for all driven by a need for unrestrained profits.

LOL. Sorry you somehow read "free for all driven by a need for unrestrained profits" in my simple little post. I said "profit realization will be important". I don't believe they will add alcohol to MK just as a convenience to the guest (I actually wish that would be a motive of management once in a while) so my implication is that profit level will greatly influence whatever level they choose. I believe it will be similar to MGM or AK, if they even decide to do it.

Walt wanted Magic Kingdom to be a utopia in which guests can forget the real world and immerse themselves in fantasy. We try to avoid anything that draws them out of the fantasy, so whenever possible a situation is resolved without gaining the attention of other guests. With that said, I am happy to hear so many people proclaim that they have never noticed drunken behavior as I can guarantee it occurs dozens of times a day here at Magic and we're dry.

I also think it's humorous reading all the posts saying that most people only want one or two drinks and that no one ever gets drunk, followed by someone who thinks a Mickey beer funnel would a great seller at the Emporium. Thanks for disproving everyone else's point.

Keep the magic alive, and leave the drinks in the more adult themed parks (HS, AK, EPCOT).
