MK might start serving alcohol!

So true. I would argue that seeing people eat Mickey Bars is probably a lot worse than seeing people drink beer.

Don't get me wrong -- I enjoy a Mickey Bar myself. But there's really nothing healthy in it. Moderate booze consumption, on the other hand, has real benefits.

So should school teach kids to drink in moderation since it's beneficial?

I brought this up to my wife yesterday and we had the same reaction: Really?

She's in her late 20's, I just turned 30. We often drink around Epcot. Pleasure Island got entirely too much of our money (especially 8-Trax and AC) until it shut down...now we're prone to shutting down ESPN Club and Jelly Rolls. Heck, I'm sipping a beer right now and I've got a bottle of Cab ready to go for dinner now.

Drinkers that we are, we both hope we don't see people wandering around MK with a beer in hand. There's just something about it that would seem to ruin the innocence and childlike wonder of the place.

That being said, we were both in favor of selling wine and beer in TS locations. A glass of wine or pint of beer at dinner hits the spot...being able to toast our engagement at CRT with a flute of champagne would have been magical (and hey, Cinderella sent us home with 2 engraved flutes anyways!).

It would probably be healthier psychologically than the current schools teaching of "alcohol is a drug, and drugs are bad." It makes for a lot of dissonance when a kid is taught that in school, and then turns around and hear their parents say that alcohol, in moderation and by adults, is an ok thing.

No clue ifit is true strictly a rumor.

IMO it's about time Walt didn't want this for DL MK is not DL. The company does nothing the way Walt did anyway so why not this? They will double concession sales with this and if at least one attraction is built or overhauled from this it's worth it. And nothing would taste better on a hot summer day in Gastons than a nice cold pint of beer:thumbsup2

Look at Harry Potter land they created butter beer a non alcoholic drink from the books.

whats to say that you cant have a glass of non alcoholic beer at Gastons.

Being in a theme park is a luxury.
Maybe for some but not all . . . . . .It is so luxurious being run over by strollers, watching fools feed the seagulls then complain they are taking their food, being pushed and shoved, having people stop in the middle of the row, and on and on . . . . . .and please don't give that tired old response, "No one is forcing you to go."

I've got news for you also . . . people already drink in the park during operating hours. . . . . There are ways around everything.

If you were quoting me, and it looks like you were, I'm in the pro-booze camp here...

No just my own .02 and I am WAY in the pro alcohol group as well. . . . . make mine a double!

Ash:
Non alcoholic beer would be WORSE than no beer.
Worse than even Budweiser---

Walking around the World Showcase is one thing...

But being in the middle of a Fantasyland bottleneck at 3:30pm on a July afternoon, filled with rubes who had never seen a Disney map until they entered the park at 11:30 that morning, kids exhausted and screaming, strollers and scooters ramming into you...people can be belligerent enough in MK. We don't need alcohol thrown into the mix.

Then let the alcohol in and find a way to get rid of the exhausted and screaming kids and strollers...:rolleyes1

Bring on the alcohol. I'll have an Evil Queen maragrita, frozen, thanks!

My personal opinion on the matter is of a business stance. The fact that Disney does not sell alcohol in their restaurants in the MK is prohibitive to them making extra income. This will only become more apparent with Gaston's "Tavern". Why even build such a thing if there will be no alcohol?

Are cigarettes allowed in MK? If so I see no reason why alcohol is not. Both are unhealthy habits that could be considered detrimental to the experience of other guests. However, cigarettes actually harm the health of others.

I think the whole matter is a bit silly. Adults should be trusted to drink responsibly, and if they are not capable of this escorted out of the park.

MK already has Liberty Tree Tavern - and the founding fathers were rather fond of beer, and several were in fact brewers...yet no beer there.

Good point - misleading naming. I have to wonder how many people head over to LTT wanting a drink and thinking they will be able to until they sit down.

You really think that money would find its way back into the parks? That's the "I have to keep a double digit profit margin even in tough economic times" money. Of course if it keeps rides from being needlessly closed and such, then awesome!
