We have a stay starting 11/29 and running through 12/7 at Bay Lake Tower. As a lot of you may know, it has been harder than normal to get rooms for this time period and I've been stalking since July to get all these days. What I didn't notice was that I had accidentally mixed standard and lake view while grabbing these single days. I've got waitlists set up to change over, and I've gotten one changed so far.

But I'm getting nervous as the time gets closer, we're only 26 days out now. If we get to the check-in day and I still have mixed view reservations, will the front desk be able to do anything to put us in one room for the whole stay? Has anyone had experience with this? I honestly don't care if I get a standard view room and use lake view points. With all the availability issues, I'm happy to have a room at all. I just dread the thought of packing up, schlepping everything down to bell services, unpacking at the end of the day, and doing that two more times. It seems as if it would be less work for them as well, not having to turn over multiple rooms.

Agree with @_auroraborealis_

The resort is almost surely 100% booked and they'd have to inconvenience other guests. Just don't see that happening. Hope something comes through via waitlist or stalking so you can minimize the moving. Good luck.

Note: if you switch to a lower point room, and you are less than 30 days, those points will go into holding.

I agree that it will be very difficult because this is the busiest time of year for DVC.
And, as already mentioned, to avoid holding, try to change the SV to LV.

You may have better luck changing the last few days of your trip, as the cancellation deadline marches forward. I was able to pick up lake view studios for 12/3 (booked evening of 11/2) and 12/4 (booked evening of 11/3). Took some time sitting on the couch and refreshing until they popped up.

Prior poster is correct. Often you will see nothing for weeks and then a day or two will pop up last minute.

Looks like you're going to have a triple split stay. There's no way for them to fix this, it's all booked. Only solution is to stalk.

Stalking can work, but it’s a lot of work. In addition to having waitlists set up (and I make sure I select the 7 day cancellation option) I’ll stalk multiple times a day. Also, if you can check in really early in the morning, you can have a conversation with the person at the front desk, explain the situation, and that you have the extra points for lake view or don’t care if you have standard view and will lose points. Things happen last minute all the time....a room taken out of service is put back in early, someone had to cut their vacation short unexpectedly....it never hurts to ask. Some of the CMs have been there for a long time and have no problem picking up the phone and talking to the room schedulers and/or DVC member services. And being non-confrontational also helps....not saying that you will be confrontational, just saying I’ve witnessed people berating CMs at the front desk when they can’t get their way.
Good luck!

Costly mistake......can you switch over to saratoga or okw?

Like others have said, with DVC rooms being fully booked it’s likely they can’t do it if it’s mixed. If it were just one night that was different there would be a greater chance of them being able to do it.

I had a Boardwalk reservation on the Oct 1 50th weekend that I pieced together at the last minute. It was one P&G night and three standard nights. I didn’t ask about trying to combine them since I assumed it wouldn’t be possible. I never got my room ready text after the first P&G night. It turns out they did combine them, but no one told me! Once the front desk confirmed my room, I went back and everything was as I left it (except for all my stuff which I left with bell services).

So, you never know!

It isn't too costly from a points perspective, more of a time cost than anything else.

There is no availability for that week for any resort, even SS. Apparently, this is unusual even for early December, there have been a few blog posts about the lack of availability across all the resorts. Some theorize it is a staffing issue with housekeeping, as they are offering big bonuses (1-2K) for new hires. I just don't know. We went in early December the last three years, and I didn't have issues like this. I did pick up one day today, so I'm down to only two now. Crossing fingers!

Keep checking. I had a waitlist for BLT T-day weekend. I have been stalking the site multiple times each day. The ONE 12 hour period I didn't check, my waitlist came through. I seriously didn't think a waitlist would happen, and stalking would be my only ghost's chance.

Hope you are successful or can make the room change only once.

I did this sort of single night split stays last Christmas for the same reasons, could not get the nights I wanted. In my case I was in different resorts each night. It is not as bad as it seems. Pack up the night before and call Bell Services in the morning to pickup and hold your luggage. When you get the room ready text you can return to the resort and get your luggage or just wait until you finish your park day.

The plus side is you get a sparkling clean room every time!
