Missoni for Target

I just got back from target. didn't go for this, went for soccer socks for my son, but thought I would check it out. tons of kids stuff, some ladies stuff, and some home stuff left. not my style, just not into, but had to check it out after reading here about it this morning. and I'll admit there was a part of me that tried to get excited about it since everyone else seems to be. couldn't quite get there, though.

part of me did want to grab a few pieces left in our ladies section, though, to sell. are people really buying it on ebay???

I checked the scarves and they're selling like hotcakes. How much are they going for at Target? I'm just considering the profit margin. ;)

DH and I laughed and laughed at the commercials. That is some butt ugly stuff. Fugly in the extreme. I swear to you, my mother had some polyester doubleknit fabric like that in 1974. Hideous then and hideous now. :scared1: Just when I thought I had erased it from my memory, Target burns in back into my brain again! :headache: I shudder to think how many decades it will take to recover from this grievous injury...........:headache:.

I just tried to go on the Target site right now just to look at what all the hype was about and the site is down. I'm amazed that this stuff is so popular! Looks like we will be seeing a lot of this out and about... I guess it's an acquired taste. I think it's a jumbly mess!

I think that's my mother and two of her friends at a fondue party.

:rotfl:

They look like a psychedelic nightmare!! :hippie:

A girl in my job who HAS to have the latest thing no matter HOW ugly it is will no doubt come into work in the mess... :rolleyes1

I saw a yahoo article with a target photo showing lines that looked like black friday.

This thread is so funny...zig zag and fondue parties...dont forget tupperware parties!! LOL

I just heard about this from Yahoo as well. Clicked on the Fashionista link someone up thread provided and

I went thru them picture by picture and when I got to the (pajama?) pants and bikini top I immediatly pictured Chrissy from Three's Company and expected at any time for the next picture to be one of Mrs. Roper's caftans.

I seen the commercial for J.Lo's line at Kohls last night and seen a few pieces I thought would be cute for fall but today when I went to the website they didn't have any of the items that I'd liked :confused3

Is that Carol Brady in the middle?

I thought all the way back to those ugly crocheted jumpers my Mom made me when I looked at this stuff. 70's all over again.

I went to look to see what all the fuss was about and I find that it is one of the ugliest patterns I have seen. I would never pay what Ebay is asking. I "might" pay the 30-50% off regular price. I really can not see the facination and I consider myself pretty up to date in fashion.

Um- they look like part of the Manson Family- and I'm talking Charlie not Marilyn....

The accessories look cute but IMO very few people will be able to pull off those pants and a few other of the busy pieces. I usually go to Target on Fridays so it'll be interesting to see whether this line is a hit at my store.

I just saw some of the crowds on tv. Some of those people I saw rushing in have no business putting those patterns on their bodies. Sorry. But, few people can pull off those prints well.

Actually, the Missoni zigzags are wonderful on fat people. They tend to visually slim them down. I am not interested in the Target stuff (I can just imagine the quality) but DH did have a Missoni knit polo shirt that looked fabulous on him (yes, he's fat). Actually, DD18 now has it and wears it because it still looks so good and is appropriately "funky" for her.

Regarding quality. On the Today show this morning, Savannah was interviewing a rep from Target (out of studio) along with a fashion reporter and a woman who was first in line at the NYC pop up Target store (those two in studio).

My husband, who wouldn't know fashion if it punched him in the face, said "That reporters outfit is so much nicer than Missoni stuff!" I said "That's because reporter is wearing real Missoni!" He said "No way!" At the end of the report, they said that the shopper was wearing a Missoni for Target dress and the reporter was wearing the real deal.

Side by side, you could see the lack of quality in the Target Missoni outfit especially in the fabric and construction. Side by side, there is no comparison! The Target colors look like Chinatown knockoffs I'd find on Canal Street!
