Okay!
I finally found time to head out to Epcot during testing hours to get on Mission Space. Let me tell you- it's awesome. The guy I rode in the car with told me that he thinks its worth planning a vacation just to go on that ride. Let me tell you, it was amazing... it held true to the rumors- you might not feel sick right when you get off it but it will definately hit you a little later. I was fine when I got off then about an hour later I was in Mouse Gears shopping and my stomach starting doing weird things... like the dizzyness was still there... but it was AWESOME! you totally feel like you are lifting off. very cool!!! Well, I just wanted to let you guys know- if you get a chance to check it out during the soft opening they are doing... go for it. it's great

Thanks for the report Jen ! Cant wait till I can go on in October ...Yipppeeee ! :)

My brother and family rode it yesterday when it opened up in the afternoon. He said it was amazing!! While not going into too much detail, he did say it was a very tight fit? and felt lightheaded after he got off. He said a couple of people in front of him declined riding once they got past a certain area. Can't wait to try it out!!!

So, can you give some advice, since it might upset your tummy?! Don't eat before going? :D

Can't wait to give it a try in october!

I went on it Thursday, it was awesome. I'd heard that by moving your head forward or turning it during liftoff, you can trigger vertigo.

Well, I already have positional vertigo, so I made sure I kept my head straight for the whole thing! I did not have a single problem, during or after. Although maybe if I did turn my head, I could knock whatever is causing mine back into place and get rid of it!

It is a confined space, but not too bad. I'd heard that and thought if it is anything like that MRI tube, no way, but it isn't too bad. I'm sure someone very large would have issues.

If you want a blow by blow, I'd be happy to post. From what I've been told, soft runs are many nights from 4-9pm.

Thanks for the posts. since there will be an AP holders day(s) while we are there in a couple of weeks, both me and my grandson will be able to ride it. He is excited, but I'm not too sure. I can't ride star tours or body wars without feeling queasy, I have a bad feeling about this one. I know he doesn't want to ride alone (but will). Thanks for the tip about not moving your head, just in case I go for it.

We will be there in August so I am hoping to get a chance to ride it.

Everyone I have spoken with has gotten either lightheaded or dizzy. I MUST experience this one!!!

I sat in a class at Disney University with a CM who operates it, and he did say that if you suffer from motion sickness or claustrophobia, don't ride it. He says it is GREAT, but not for everyone. Personally, I can't wait to ride it during CM previews later this month, and my DH can't wait to ride it during the AP holders previews in August.

It's truly amazing.
I have ridden 4 times with no motion sickness at all (I don't get motion sick). I did, however, get a little dizzy during the liftoff portion the last time.
If you are indeed "planning a trip just to ride" M:S, make sure that the trip you plan is after August 15.

Hrmm... I think I might be the only person who thinks the ride was just okay.

I rode it on the 2nd day they opened it for Epcot cast previews. From what I hear, I think this was before they tuned it down slightly. *shrug* At any rate, after the ride, I was lightheaded for the rest of the night... a feeling I didn't really like.

As for the ride itself... the pre-show was boring. It also wasn't long enough... after it was done, we sat and waited for another 5 minutes in an extremely cramped waiting area. They need to space out those numbers. (I tend to value my personal space)

The 2nd preshow area, my monitor was on the fritz. I hope they fixed it. I didn't find the capsule to be claustrophobic... and I liked how they had fresh air blowing. That helped. I didn't like the small screens inside the capsule, though... I wish they had been bigger. The g-forces were cool... but not enough to make give me too much thrill.

*shrug* Do I think it's a good ride? Yes. Would I wait an hour in line for it? No.

In my opinion, "Mission:Space Spins," "They toned M:S down," and "They toned CTX/Dinosaur down." are all similar statements in that the average rider would have no idea (and no reason to complain) if no one had said anything. The way some people go on about Dinosaur, (which was "toned down" from "Whiplash" to "highly turbulent") you'd think they turned off the motion base and painted everything pink. The aforementioned complainers only know because they heard, not because they felt any major difference, and they only complain because that's the only reason anyone else will know that they are "in the know..." It's complaint for direct ego boost.
Like people who read erronneous claims about hidden doorways, images, or whatnot in the attractions, and then swear up and down that they saw them. (Before I knew that the picture of "Pharoah Mickey" was in the Indiana Jones room of GMR, my friends and I hypothesized that it could be in the Egyptian scene of Spaceship Earth -makes sense, right? Anyhow, after a conversation about it, we rode SSE and sure enough, one of my friends swore up and down that he saw the image in the tomb on the right. If the rest of us didn't see it, it was because we weren't as observant, and for the rest of the day he was the king of Epcot... Until we rode GMR later that day and his girlfriend found the actual image. Ever since then, I have been very careful with what I allowed to tint my opinions.)

Not saying anything against Tyler, that statement just jogged my memory (he wasn't complaining, and he totally *shrugged*) I'm sure you've all encountered guests who know everything. Suspiciously, many of them seem to be drawn by the word "rumor," which is a statement of dubious or unclear origins that they unblinkingly repeat as gospel.

I rode it!!!
I thought it was VERY neat to get to ride it before the actual opening! I know those of you down there get to do that sort of thing, but for those of us far away... well, it was a big treat for me!

Now as for the ride itself. I did enjoy it very much, but I guess I'm a step up from Tyler ( thought it was more than ok) but a step down from the majority-- I didn't think it was AWSOME... but I'm afraid sometimes hearing others' raves and reviews makes you expect more, sometimes too much. If I hadn't heard anything I'm sure I would have come off the ride thinking it was great.
I didn't get light headed or queasy at all, then or later. I did think the end was kind of abrupt-- just seemed to me to stop... of course I think the storyline makes you forget you are in a ride and feels more like a movie type thing, so I think I forgot it would only be "ride long" LOL!
I had a blast playing the "advanced training" game in the next room after the ride too!

Would I ride it again? Most certainly, it was a very fun ride. Would I wait in a long long line? Nope, BUT I don't do that for any ride. We go often enough that if I can't fast pass it or there is a fairly short line, I go do something else.

It was still WAY cool to get to ride before it opened!!

I got myself a Pioneer Crew 2003 shirt, and it wasn't until I went to put it on 2 days later that I found out I bought a youth shirt! Major bummer. I called Merchandise Guest Services and asked if I could order an Adult, but they don't have the items in their system yet.

Bummer....I get the feeling that all the 'pioneer' stuff will disappear when MS officially opens.

I can't wait to ride it during Cast Previews next week. They are allowing one guest per CM to ride it with us, and DH and DD (who is 9 and doesn't like ToT, but loves RnR) will be going to the park that day with me. Don't know who should go on MS with me... has anyone heard any feedback from the younger crowd????

We rode MS when we were there 2 weeks ago. My son, who is 6, and my daughter, who is 12, both went on. My son loves coasters (isn't yet tall enough for RnR; he missed it by a half-inch or so) and ToT, and he said he liked it, but his head felt "heavy". He didn't want to do it again. My 12-year-old loved it and went on twice; once with my husband and then again with me when we did child swap (also have a 2 1/2 year old).

Thanks, I guess I will see what she thinks when we get in line. If she chickens out, we can always do the kid swap!:)
