Mission Space.....Please be honest......

Okay.. I am prepared for the response I will get for this one.. but .... I really don't get what all the Hype is about... I rode Mission Space.. and frankly was very disappointed.. I thought that certain points were cool.. but not overly impressed with the whole production.. I thought it ended too abrubtly.. and was too short overall.... just my opinion.. if there is no line I would ride it again... but I would never go out of my way again.... Mickey's Philharmagic on the other hand... I would wait in line for an hour for that one!! Just my opinion...

I rode Mission Space in June during the guest previews. I had heard that it could cause motion sickness and to keep the head back and look forward. I have a history of motion sickness, aggravated by rides that spin or sway back and forth. For whatever reason I did not realize that MS is a centrifuge! So I did not premedicate. I came THIS close to throwing up on it. I did not feel right the rest of the day. My husband, who does not get motion sickness normally, felt somewhat off for the day also. I love thrill rides and coasters, and they don't usually cause motion sickness-not the right kind of motion for it. I was so exicited to get to ride in during previews, and I loved the ride. I will try it again, but take dramamine and/or bonine first. It was a family trip and several other rode it-including young kids-and they all loved it and had no problems.

I am summing up this ride, its not ALL that thrilling, its too short, too many reports of after effects, and I'm concerned about the cleanliness of the ride if there is barf remains from tourist of every part of the earth.

No way Jose....keep it Disney, you lost out on this ride.

I just love this ride. I have ridden it several times and never had any problem. When I went to ride it this past month, we were already seated for the ride when they told us that we would have to leave the vessal and enter on of the blue group vessals because someone in one of the parties before us had thrown up. So it does seem to effect some people pretty bad.

OK, here's my question, then. Did anyone who is prone to motion sickness or who got sick the first time riding it, use Dramamine on a subsequent trip? Did it make a difference or not? I don't usually get motion sickness, but I do get a little dizzy on carousels and the tea cups and my husband got off Body Wars last year feeling out of sorts. I have been a little concerned about riding M:S, but really don't want to miss it. I had read that Dramamine can help, so yesterday I bought a small vial of the less drowsy formula. I want to know if it helps and is worth taking or not.

Not prone to sickness, usually. We went a few days after it opened in August. There were no lines, especially for single riders. I rode it twice with less than 5 minutes or so between rides. Felt a little sick afterwards (maybe for an hour), but was fine after something to eat.

I really believe that G-force on the body and brain can lead to malaise for a period of time after exiting the ride.

>>>... barf from tourists from every part of the earth ...

According to my calculations, spilled vomit after one minute is less filthy than an equal quantity of plain spit or snot. After two hours spilled vomit residue is no more filthy than spilled ice cream residue.

I am curious about this too. Has anyone tried this? I might just give this a try next time we are at Epcot!

Thanks to those of you who mentioned this, I don't know why I didn't think of trying Dramamine before! We always take it on the Disney Cruise!

I have to admit I chickened out - I got up to the front of the entrance (no waiting, walk on) and read the warnings that having a headache could cause adverse reactions. I had sprined my knee getting on the plane to go to Disney a couple of days earlier and was hobbling, plus had a headache. Being there by myself, I didn't want to take a chance on being incapacitated. Maybe next time if I'm with someone else I'll give it a try.

We rode Mission Space at the end of the day, with empty stomachs and after I had taken prescription anti-nausea medication. I looked straight ahead, kept my eyes open, didn't turn my head from side to side, pushed the buttons and yes, I did vomit repeatedly after the ride. I managed to make it back to the hotel room before I vomited, but I spent several hours in the bathroom and didn't get back to normal until the next morning.

I won't go on it again, but I don't have any regrets about trying it the one time. This is the first and only ride that has ever made me vomit. My spouse felt a bit queasy right after the ride, but that went away in a couple of minutes and he will probably ride it again.

even though DH and DN suffer from some motion sickness while spinning they were unaffected by it. We rode around lunch time both days and the first time I rode I was hungry and felt fine after I ate. Nobody felt sick afterwards. This is now my farvorite ride and the wait time both times was around 45 minutes but the fast pass return times were from 5:00- 6:00 on Thursday to 2:00 to 3:00 on Sunday. We choose to wait both times because were were hoping parks and it would be quicker to do the stand-by lines.

I love spinning and simulator rides, but can get claustrophobic sometimes. DH loves roller coasters, but does not like spinning rides because he tends to have motion sickness- he can't read in a car, at all.
DD (7) and I rode it together first while DH waited with the baby. After hearing warning after warning, she started freaking out and the last second decided she didn't want to do it. I talked her into staying. When they closed us up, I thought I was having a heart attack or a panic attack or something and wished I had let DD talk us out of it. I was fine once the ride really started, although I was worried about her. She said she "liked it a little bit" which is her polite way of saying she did not like it at all. She felt like she couldn't breathe- I guess it was the G-forces on her chest. She said she won't go back. I really liked it.
DH liked it okay, but said he will probably just ride it once per trip. He felt a little weird after it for a few minutes, but that was it.
Our last day at Epcot we did not have time for all of us to do every single big ride (having a little one and having to do the baby swap.) DH and DD rode Test Track again and I chose M:S again. This time I did feel a tiny bit queasy after landing on Mars, but I was also in a different seat. I did not have the initial panic though since I knew what to expect this time. The weird part was it felt like I could feel my eyeballs doing funny things because of the spinning:scared1:
