Minnie Marathon 2007 -- WISH Roster (see post 1 for WISH Meets Info!)

Kristi--Do bring your boyfriend!:lmao:
I would in a heart beat if he would agree to come with me!

I will be 'seeing' him in March in CT, then April in RI & Villanova...maybe I can ask him to come with me if I can track him down after the concert(s)... :tiptoe:

Kristi: Bring that hottie with you!! Hmm, hmmm. :rotfl2:

Don't forget to pack athletic tape and pre-wrap.

Maybe Cam can come with me to the Villanova show and use her lawyer-ly ways to convince him to come for the good of the female WISHers! :rotfl2:

Cam - you know how he LOVES lawyers! ;) :rotfl:

Just a little more eye candy before I finally peel myself away from the computer and get something done around here today!

The guy in the back is Brad Fernquist. I never though he was that cute on stage - but man - in person! Hottie! And the sweetest guy. Maybe he'll come too?

The half-marathon in April, I am going to do is the Columbus Distance Classic. On their website they have a training plan, I am following that. My "long run" is still short, only 5 miles. During the week I have been running 30-45 minutes 2 days a week. Then cross-training 2-3 days (usually treadmill walking).

I am so excited about this!!

Ashley[/QUOTE]

Hi Ashley - I just found and joined the board today. I am from Worthington and did the CDC last April as my first ever half marathon. I am a walker (as you probably guessed from my screen name :) ) I used Coach Jenny Hadfield's training plan from the website and it worked GREAT! Just watch the treadmill walking as your Crosstraining - that can be tough on you since your body just knows it is still walking or running - you don't want an injury from overdoing it :sad1: I do a recumbent bike or Pilates type stuff or as has been the case this last week - snow shoveling as CT :rolleyes1

I will be doing the half again this year as well as the Minnie, maybe I will see at one or both.

Good luck with your training!
Kathy

Yep, me again--must be a glitch with the link provided through disneyrunning.com b/c DH found the on-line registration to work through the disney website (duh, should've tried that first!)
So, does that mean you're both in?

Yoplait, yech! I'm not a big fan of yogurt unless it's in the icecream variety.

pre-wrap is a light fiber-type wrap that goes on before athletic tape so that the athletic tape doesn't stick to the hairs.

Lily--not "officially" in yet--I have to make sure that my parents can watch the kiddos for the long weekend. But as far as DH is concerned we're on our way. I think he's a little anxious about not very many men running the Minnie, but I told him "Just think of all the cute chicks you can draft off of!":rotfl2:

Stephanie - I am 99% sure Matt is running it with his wife. I did see men last year. Bring him!

I've never been one to use the Gu. I find the idea of it revolting. However, considering how hot it will be, should I reconsider and get used to it? I'll need something I'm sure....

I swore I'd never use the gels myself, but after 2 years of trying lots of other variations, I broke down and tried a Clif Shot during the WDW half this year. I survived it and am now using Gu and Accel gels for training. Hoping they work better than the Bloks I tried last year and the honey I was using the year before.

You can do races with just Powerade or Gatorade type stuff...no gels needed!

Hope your run went well!

Do they sweep the 5K? I know the website posts a 15 min/mi pace - just wanted to see if anyone knew anything about sweepers!

Good morning team!!!!

Wow this thread got busy this weekend.

Did a great weight workout yesterday and boy and I feeling it today.

Thank you all for the packing hints, I have to get some of that body glide stuff.

I think I am going to get a walk in..OUTSIDE today....wahooo although I love my TM I really want to see if my pace has improved outside.

I don't know about the 5K but I think the 15K has to be completed in 2.5 hours....9K or 15M pace.

Hope you all have a great day

Kim

OK so I wanted to start making dining ressies, and was thinking of making one for Donald's Breakfastosaurus for like 10:15 or 10:30 after the marathon....what do you guys think????? A good idea or not??:confused3

I've got a couple of newbie to event questions. First, how does the bib attach to your shirt, will we need pins? Does it get in your way or bother you? Is it on the front or back?

Second: For the 15K, where should I arrange for my family to be? Can they be there at the start, then drive over to the finish? Any suggestions would be helpful, sometimes I have trouble picturing how all this might work, IYKWIM.

Oh, and for the 15K, do most of you rely on the drink stations there, or bring your own drinks?

Safety pins

Usually you get 2 safety pins but I prefer 4 so that should be added to the packing list. With 4, it doesn't get in the way or flap around. This may sound like OCD or something, but I pin the bib to my shirt the night before, try it on and adjust it so in the morning I don't need to do it.

Edited due to the fact that I thought I was on the main trining thread. Doh! I would think this would be fine!

Just wanted to stop in and say hello. Just a reminder for anyone who is going to just go with a carry-on. You'll want to be sure to plan ahead if you think you are going to bring powerade or anything like that with you. I have to bring that and bought a waterproof cooler bag for my suitcase so that I can put that and some cliff blocks and sport beans in the suitcase. I am just never sure I will be able to buy that stuff down there in exactly the brands/flavors I've trained with.

As for the race bib -- you wear it on the front so that when ASI takes pix, you can search for your pictures by bib number. Kind of like this:
view_user_photo.asp

I also put the number on the night before to be sure it is straight, etc.

BTW, Kristi -- if you tell me how to get a ticket for the Villanova show, I'll be glad to meet you there and "advocate" for Johnny to join us in Orlando! BTW, I really appreciate that none of the pix you post of him are with the guitar that says "Lawyers S-ck"

What day are you Minnie racers planning on going to the expo? Has anyone gone Friday and is it really open until 7:00p.m.? How much time do I need to allot for the expo? My mind is turning already!
