Minnie Marathon 2007 -- WISH Roster (see post 1 for WISH Meets Info!)

Hi, everyone! Welcome to all our new posters! :welcome:
The more the merrier.
There is a WISH meet tentatively scheduled for Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney on Saturday at 4:30, IIRC. There is a wolfgang puck express right near there for anyone who can't find something on the EoS menu that they like. We will meet at EoS where I can hand out nametags and people can wander to other food places to pick up something to eat and bring it back to the WISH meet.
As soon as these plans start to crystallize, we'll post the details in the first post, but be sure to keep that time open in your itineraries so we can all meet!

I'm glad to see our group is getting larger. It will be good to meet for sure.

My training has been nonexistant since I've come back from the event in January. I'm finallay cleared for "some" training and plan to get it in gear tonight if I can squeeze in the time. At least I will get to do some Pilates before I turn in to sleep.

Ashley - We have built up to runs 3 or 4 times a week of anything from 4 to 6 miles, between long runs.:cool1:

Hey, guys! If you are signed up for any of the races Minnie weekend and I don't have you on the list in the first post, please send me a PM or post here reminding me to add you. Thanks! :grouphug:

Leana - Sorry this is a couple days late but I actually emailed and asked your question and they never answered me. When we did RFTT and booked through Anthony Travel - their hotel was the only one that transportation was available through. I am going to email again but if that does not work out I am booked for PO and I will have an Explorer there that seats 7.

I will be more than happy to drive anyone staying there that needs a ride!!:thumbsup2

My dd-11 and dneice-12 are coming with me if you want to add them to the list...:)

Angie - Thanks so much for asking Anthony Travel! Let me know what you hear back. I realize the race is pretty small, but for those of us that count on getting around by the Disney transportation system, not having race transportation is a bummer! If you have room in your car though I would certainly appreciate the ride!

Being a part of the boards is definitely getting me super excited for the race weekend. My mom is actually flying out from Indonesia so that she and I can walk the 5K together (then cheer me on while I run the 15K). It has been ages since we've been to Disney, and I'm looking forward to my first race there!

My deepest apologies to those who have posted on other threads (which I just discovered):scared:

I did speak to Anthony Travel and just like others had posted, AK Lodge is host hotel.

However as I said before, I am staying at POR and will be happy to transport anyone who wants to go (early) I tend to be a little nervous and anxious and nervous on race mornings. :yay:

Leana - you AND ANYONE ELSE ARE WELCOME TO A RIDE FOR THE 15K!!

I won't be there for the 5K, but isn't it at Downtown Disney?? maybe they will have busses, I don't know??

I think that is so exicting your mom is coming all that way. That kind of stuff is so exciting. My parents came to the Marathon weekend so our kids could be there to cheer us on and it was AWESOME!!!:cheer2:

Happy Training

Hey everyone!!!!.

Is everyone getting excited.

How is training going. I was super lazy this weekend and did a TM workout Sat and that was it. Just so busy but back at it today.

Can't believe it is less then 3 months away

Kim

I'm super excited about the weekend! I'll actually be there a full week and I just made all my dining reservations yesterday.....Sci-Fi Dine in Theatre, 50's Prime Time Cafe, breakfast at Chef Mickey's...just to name a few.

Now if only the snow would let up around here so I could get on with my training....!!

Snow here is terrible as well, and we are getting hit again tonight into tomorrow.

DD and I will be there fron Thurs - Monday, we also make ressies at 50's that is DD's favorite disney restaurant, i think we are going there Friday for a late lunch.

Kim

For those that have done the Minnie before, is there a place where DD and I can meet up if we end up finishing at different times. I am not sure I will let her go byherself but I want to make sure she is safe and we can meet up to have our picture taken with our medals after the race with Minnie and with the rest of the WISH team.

I cant remember if they had the family reunion tents or not. I dont think so because it is a MUCH smaller field than for the marathon.

There are volunteers & medics all over the course (at stations & on bikes) so she would definately be safe if you sent her on. I would just tell her not to leave the finish area & wait for you. I think we are all planning on waiting for the last WISHer to finish anyway so she can wait with the other speedy WISHers!

Thanks TiffJ for the info.

I am a super overprotective parent....plus I keep teasing her that I will wait for her at the finish line......although she is going to fly by me but it is fun teasing.

We are having so much fun training together.

Kim

I totally understand being overprotective. My DS9 ran the 5k this year at MGM without me. He was with his 13yo cousins but it went great & he would have probably been ok without them. (although I did talk them into staying with him :) )

That is great you have something you enjoy doing together!

Kim - Provided she does not blow by us all, she will have many moms sporting the lime green. We really do stand out, so just have her go to the lime. We can be on the look-out for her too. By SUnday, you should have at least met some of us, so it won't be like sending her to total strangers. :p I have no kids, but I don't think there's a WISHer I've met that I would not trust with my niece or nephews. I'm a pretty over-protective aunt. ;)

Kim

DD14 finishes most races well ahead of me. She has a cell phone that she carries if we have any trouble finding each other. Like everyone else has said, just have your DD wait for you at the finish and look for the lime green...she may be able to watch you cross the finish line!

Looks like we may be out for the 5K. My mom has a field trip the day before to NASA (Space Center) and won't be home til 9pm. We probably won't be able to come up until Sat morning :sad1:
