I have never seen buckwheat waffles or pancakes at Disney before. IF they are truly made with buckwheat flour, then no, they could not taste the same.;)

We really love the flavor and make them all the time, but I'd really be surprised if there's much buckwheat flour in them. They normally are not what you'd find for a *general* breakfast. To me they're a specialty.

I would think if they have them, they'd also have the reg. kind also :confused3

ETA: I took a look at the AOA breakfast menu, and was really surprised just to see this for the kid's menu!! I would doubt there is much of the flour in there, just enough to *call* them that so I wouldn't worry, or surely they would substitute????

I wish we could get buckwheat at other resorts too. Especially for our daughter!
So happy to see these positive menu changes. Disney will get more money from us the less we have to bring from Whole Foods to the resorts.

:thumbsup2 ITA. We love buckwheat waffles and pancakes, but they don't taste like 'regular' waffles/pancakes (that's why we like them so much). However, it's expensive to use buckwheat flour, so I'd guess that there's just enough buckwheat in there to be able to call them buckwheat, and won't really effect the flavor. I'm guessing they are doing this as the buckwheat pancakes/waffles are more nutritious than the 'regular'.

Don't be too surprised if there is only enough buckwheat flour in them to be able to *call* them that;). I'm sure it won't be enough to affect the nutrition (and most probably, not even the taste) :)

My ds ordered them a couple of times. There are the Simba waffles and then the Nemo waffles. They alternate them I think. He ate them right up. No complaints whatsoever. They're on the kids menu and then the adult menu has a larger Mickey size, so if you're feeling a bit nervous, my advice would be to try the kid's portion. I think I had the kids breakfast when I bothered with breakfast. :P

On second thought, I think the adult waffles are not buckwheat. Only the kiddos. You can get a kids plate with chocolate chip pancakes. I did that one morning b/c chocolate is an important part of breakfast.

Oh I am not afraid to try something new.. I too like buckwheat. There is just something about those little mini mickey waffles..mmmm:)

We eat these at home all the time- they are great. Don't think "whole wheat"... I doubt you'll notice a huge difference, especially when dripping in syrup!:rotfl2:

It's true the frozen ones don't taste a lot different, but the boxed mixes and homemade ones do. That's because most frozen, or prepared ones, have very little buckwheat flour and mostly white flour.

*True* buckwheat does have a very distinctive flavor ::yes:: They are our favorites and what we always make.

Ours aren't frozen... always homemade and fresh!:thumbsup2
