Mingos in the Watah! What in the Wuhld?

Oh no, beach sand renourishment?! Looks like we're all going to have to end up moving, because that was my plan for NYE as well.....and we're staying at the Poly. :sad1:

That just seems silly to close that beach the busiest week of the year, not to mention the most expensive week of the year.
Why wouldn't they wait to do this in January when it's not so popular?

I happened to run across this thread

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2820317

and I am wondering if our 'little NYE party' might end up having to be moved somewhere, if this is true.

Back later for replies.

I saw that too. I am hoping saner heads prevale and doing something like during the busiest week is best scheduled during January.

I have seen any confirmation, so until then I will hope this is a rumor.

I read about that beach sand thing too. I think I read that they don't do all of the beaches at once, only one at a time, so there would still be beaches open? This stinks though, I hope the beaches are open in January!

I couldn't believe that story! I am so glad it worked out!

Lovely early morning walk around Pop -- is it strange that I love seeing the mist coming off the pool?

I just told you briefly on the phone. As you see by the novel I wrote on your PTR this morning, I was gettin' a lil scared.

You guys have not stayed at Pop have you? I can't remember who has stayed, who has visited, and who just knows everything about it because of us.

How cool that Brooklynn is fast-approaching the big leagues of hotel pool swimming! She must be excited to be in the big pool!

Those song titles are hilarious! (again, a testament to my lame sense of humor

Brooklynn was delighted on this October trip because the pool was right outside our door. We were on the ground floor right beside Roger Rabbit, so we walked out the door and about thirty steps later, we were in the pool.

I like the song titles, too. If I ever throw a 50's party - and I will - I will have to recreate that jukebox. :thumbsup2

Good morning from......boring ole Virginia. We returned Tuesday afternoon and went right back to school/work yesterday. The trip itself was fantabulous, the weather was spectacular, and we all loved the fall decorations, MNSSHP, and Food and Wine stuff. I'd love to go every year now! But, it's been hard for me, and the kids, with missing those days. So much work to catch up on. Monday I told John that I would take 3 days off every year so we would go. Today I'd say not likely!

Have a good day and good luck with your next observation. I know you'll be glad to have it done. I really wish she'd do mine but she doesn't schedule, just comes in.

It is so hard to come straight back to school, but I'm still not at all opposed to sneaking out of a few school days for a Disney trip. It's worth the punishment I will take in getting caught up when I get back.

Our two observations after the first of the year will be unannounced. The first two are formal. Tenured teachers now have four and non-tenured have six. Principals have little time for anything else any more.

I need togo back to read but I was looking at the amusement email I get and this article on Halloweens at all the Disney parks was a bit interesting and may help answer "Is the halloween party going to get scarier?"

ETA:
I love POP.
I saw Jackie's post and I hope the story we are all waiting to hear was about that and that all has been resolved.

Thanks for the bit of escape this morning. Escaping to the fun of POP.

I've just noticed several not-so-friendly looking Mickey things, and I really didn't care for them.

Read Jackie's PTR this morning for the whole (looooong) story.

I would have enjoyed a morning walk around Pop this morning.

Or Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Or Wilderness Lodge.

Or...

I could go on, if you'd like. :goodvibes

I'm currently sitting in the library listening to the Wishes soundtrack on my MP3 player and DISing in between classes I figured it would be a good idea to go to my happy place before I have to sit through my 2 hour math class

Math is the only thing standing between me and the weekend. I'm getting really adjusted to this three day weekend thing. If I ever have Friday classes it's gonna be hard getting used to it Friday is usually my relaxing day, then Saturday and Sunday are used for homework and hanging out with my mom and helping her with errands and stuff. I registered for my Spring semester classes on Monday and my schedule is exactly the same as the one I have now. It's working out really well and I found class times that fit. I'm actually really excited about my classes next semester. I'm taking Western History, another Psychology course, Sociology, and Intro to Film Criticism. The last one is for my visual arts general education requirement. I have no artisitc ability so that's better than trying to take drawing or something All of those fufill general education requirements except psych. I'm already taking a psych class now and I'm considering that as my major so my advisor suggested taking another psych course to see if I really like it.

Yes. Happy Place first. Math second. ::yes::

Glad you are getting the classes you want.

Yay for Brookie and swimming! She is getting so big!

I love WDW in the morning. And I love reading along with your morning strolls. Feels like we're right there with you!

You can pay us back with some morning stroll pictures from the Polynesian. :cool2:

Hey MeMom! Do you think I would be crazy to fly in for the NYE meet and a day of MK fun and fly back out the next day? It looks like I might only be able to get 2 nights away. I am so thinking about doing it. Gonna see if Sarah or maybe my husband will come with me or maybe even Sam and TY.

I will most definitely be there! Just let me know the date. They are going to bring a Dinosaurs exhibit next year. (Dinosaurs at the Memphis Zoo will be open March 10 - July 8, 2012)

Do I think you are crazy?

Hmmmmm......

Well, probably, yes :crazy2:

but in a good way.

You are asking this of a person whoe would gladly leave school and go straight to the airport on a Friday afternoon and fly back on Sunday night (or even on a red-eye) to get to school Monday morning. :upsidedow

Maybe we can plan that Memphis trip for May or sometime when the temperatures are nice and comfortable. :thumbsup2

The Pop Century pictures were wonderful. I wish I had a trip in the planning.

Thanks for taking care of the gift for Jackie.

New Year's Eve? ;)

I enjoyed the walk around POP while listening to the Spectro music... We might actually be at WDW at the same time in June!!! Hope the student teacher is getiing used to the kiddos!!

I am listening to the Fantasmic pre-show music right now.
We're messed up, Mary.
What other grown women listen to Disney music all the time??? :rolleyes1

You will be there between June 13 and 23rd? :woohoo:

The student teacher is trying to adjust. He is young. He has a lot to learn. I am pretty sure that the kids have not heard the phrase 'pop a squat' from me this year. Or any year. They heard it from him this week when he was trying to get them to sit down.

I love the bowling pin pool! How cool Brooklynn must feel to get to be a "big league" swimmer now!

Disney mornings...is there anything better?

The dawn of another full Disney day is always a blessing. :earsgirl:

The bowling pin pool is the only pool she didn't swim in on the October trip. She sure had fun in the others, though.

I don't think it would be crazy at all. At least not to us on the DIS. I would even fly down in the morning, stay a few hours, and fly back home that night if I had the chance. I say do it.

I just told her she was crazy.
You are undoing everything I said!

DO IT !!!! If you can swing it it would be great. It would be great to see you again.

She will be there, with a little bit of enabling. :goodvibes

Early mornings at Pop are the best. Great pictures.

They are. I love watching Pop come to life.

I say you should fly down for the NYE meet!!!

The boss has spoken. :thumbsup2

I hope you have a great ending to your week! I do love Fridays, it means I can wear a Disney shirt to school!

I meant to tell you it was so nice to finally meet you! Wish I could have spent more time with you, hopefully in future trips our paths will cross again!!!!!

Loved this update and to see Brooklynn having so much fun in the pool!

Wanted to thank you again for spearheading the gift for Jackie! Glad everything worked out!!!!! You picked out some amazing items!

I'm sure we will cross paths again. You guys looked great for the party. I know you had a blast.

I am glad the gift finally found its way to the right person. :)

I always love your early morning pictures. I am SO excited to be back there in just 68 days!

Brooklynn looks like such a big girl swimming! That must be so exciting for her

I haven't stopped to count days. I will have time to think about it after next week, I hope. School things take about 80% of my waking time these days.

She was thrilled to have the computer pool right beside our room on this last trip. It was nice to be able to walk right out the door and be at a table to sit and watch, and then only have a few steps to go when it was time to get back to the room. I am nor a Roger Rabbit fan, but that was a good location.

Megablocks
, looking at your countdown, made me check out mine....

MeMom, just 58 days for us! Have you started packing?

If you call never unpacking some things from the last trip getting started, then yes, I have. :goodvibes

Guess what Memom. I get to go to WDW THIS December. 11th-18th.
It will not be long. And you will go right after me.

I am very happy for you!!!

Funny....I was thinking the same thing...we have 61!

Wig'd You can laugh but I never unpacked some of my suitcase from Sept. LOL

TY Nonnie you should come...the more the better.
I hope there's enough grass to fit us all in. We are forming quite the group.
I can't wait for my DMom to meet everyone I talk about and put a face to the names.

Love the early morning POP pics! Wow...I need to go back! I miss it already!

There is plenty of grass, but I am a little concerned about whether our grass view is going to be blocked by machines, after what I read.

Aw MeMom, I love your fondness for Pop. At first I was a little sad that we probably couldn't afford a moderate for this upcoming trip. But I remember how much we loved Pop on our first trip and your photos really capture the magic. I'm excited to return. Thanks for the reminder on how great Pop really is.

Pop was our first resort, so it's dear to our hearts. We feel comfortable there. I can tell you I have quite a fondness for AKL and WL, too, though, and when I get a chance and the money to stay at nicer places, I will do that. Pop is home, though.

Oh no, beach sand renourishment?! Looks like we're all going to have to end up moving, because that was my plan for NYE as well.....and we're staying at the Poly.

We may have to move the party.
But we can still bring our sleeping bags and crash at your Poly room, right?

That just seems silly to close that beach the busiest week of the year, not to mention the most expensive week of the year.
Why wouldn't they wait to do this in January when it's not so popular?

We will have to see how these rumors play out.

Love the early morning walks with you MeMom!! So very very nice!!!

Ummmm...okay that rumor is not cool at all!! Seriously why would you close the Poly Beach (any of them) during THE busiest time of year!!! That makes absolutely NO sense at all!!!

What other grown women listen to Disney music all the time??? :rolleyes1

I asked Jamie of all the resorts we've stayed at, or visited, which was her favorite and what do you think she said .... "Pop". I have to say I kindof agree. We really missed it our last couple of trips! Did you see the pictures I put up (on facebook) of the Art of Animation resort? Jamie got some good shots of the progress. I have a picture of what she had to do to get those shots, but she would probably have a fit if I posted it

You won't believe this, but there's a thin layer of snow on my car...in OCTOBER! We're having a Nor'easter. It's mainly been a ton of rain and wind but it's been snowing for a little while. We're supposed to get 3-6 inches. This is crazy :rotfl:

Editing this post to add a picture I took for my DIS friends...

5pmxoo.jpg

 That's my car window. I think there's about an inch on top of my car. I've never seen snow this early in my life. I think the earliest I've seen it is mid November and it was just a dusting.

I hope that rumor is not true, but we'll figure something out for that night. We can pack in like sardines somewhere and see those awesome fireworks!

I listen to three kinds of music - gospel, Disney, and from Thanksgiving to New Year's Day, Christmas.
I am probably supposed to know all the country music, since I live where I do, but I don't. :upsidedow

Of course!!!! :goodvibes

Or a webcam that you can put in the swing on the Poly beach, so we can really 'be there'.

I got several pictures of AoA, too. I walked to the wall at the end of the bridge. I'll have to see how those pictures came out. Jamie will never know if you show us pictures of her climbing over the wall. :rolleyes1

I am excited about the new resort opening, and I think all of the outside things are going to be very cool. It's a bit too expensive for me, though, and the insides, for me personally, are a little over done. I think I want things a little 'plainer' when I go inside to get some rest.

Yep, we have been watching the snow craziness on the news. I hope it is not indicative of what the winter is going to do to you or us!

:rotfl: Sure, everyone can come on down! Hopefully some won't mind sleeping in the tub....

A sleeping bag on the lawn works for me. By the time we get to a Pop bus, get to Pop, and get to sleep, it's time to wake up!

Naah, we won't really lawn crash, because the Poly police will possibly be put out. We will be happy for you to join our NYE bash, though! :dance3:

**********************************************

I am about to go get started on making a chicken casserole for lunch. I've got to start the green beans, too, so they can simmer for several hours. My whole gang is here, and I love it when everyone is under one roof.

Last night, Jill, the girls, and I went to Trunk or Treat at church. There were all kinds of cute little 'treaters'. I manned the cookie decorating station. We were going to have the kids make Mickey Mummies, but after a trial at home, we deemed it to be too difficult for tiny monster/superhero/princess fingers to do in that scenario. They would need more time to do them right. We ended up just doing the regular frosting and lots of toppings, and the kids loved it. One little girl said as she approached, "This is always my favorite place!" :thumbsup2

Jill took the girls around to the different trunks. In true form to being just like her Bubby, Jill said Bella looked at the candy and said, "I not yike dat." Trent has never cared much for sweets, and what little Halloweening he did (quite often he had croup and did no Halloweening), he would give his candy to whoever wanted it. Definitely not the typical kid.

I hope this means Bella will keep those good eating habits, too.
Friday night, I ran into Trent at Kroger as I was doing food shopping. He was going to a movie with a friend, and he was getting snacks so they didn't have to pay the astronomical movie prices.

What did he have in his hand?

Some kind of natural granola bar thing.

I am hoping he bought the girl something more fun and junky, or maybe he bought her a five dollar candy bar at the movies, or maybe she is like him (frugal/cheap) and brought her own snacks, too.

Anyway, trunk or treating was fun.
And it was cold. :cold:
Brooklynn and Carson rode on the hay wagon by themselves - like big kids. I told one of the of the teenage kids from summer camp, who was sitting right beside them, to put his arm out if they started to topple. They made the loop around the parking lot just fine, and they thought they were big stuff. :goodvibes

I took a very few pictures, and I will show them later. On to get this dinner started so that when I get home from church, it'll be a breeze to get the rest of it together.

Whether you are seeing green palm trees,
red, orange, and gold leaves,
or have a snowy backyard this morning -
have a beautiful Sunday, all!

You guys have not stayed at Pop have you? I can't remember who has stayed, who has visited, and who just knows everything about it because of us.

We stayed there in October, 2007 (pre-DIS board days) when we went down for a long weekend and the Halloween party. We loved it there -- I have fond memories of eating the tye-dyed cheesecake.

Happy Sunday to you, too! Looking forward to the Trunk or Treat pictures! The cookie decorating station would be my favorite, too. :goodvibes

Good morning! Hope everyone will have a great Sunday! All this talk about NYE is getting me so excited! Well, I have some bad but not unexpected news. Just as I expected, Jason talked me out of the Aulani trip for this year. :sad2: He is very concerned about the long flight, price of airfare, and the fact that we just went this summer. I am bummed, but I know he is right. My boys would have a very hard time with the flight.
So, as a consolation, I have great news! I booked a Western Caribbean cruise on the Disney magic instead! Also, since we have so many more points now, I changed our June trip to 3 nights AKL savanna view and 7 nights BLT lake view!
We are crossing our fingers to try for a week at VB or HHI anytime in July.
Cooper's student teacher has not started full time yet. He has a female teacher. I will see how she is doing when I volunteer in a couple of weeks.
Hope you have good luck with yours. Glad you had a great time at trunk or treat. We had ours at church Friday night. It was really fun.

I wish I had Trent and Bella's willpower about sweet stuff. We went to a Halloween festival yesterday and I bet I had eaten 10 pieces of the kids candy before we got home. I don't crave it but if it is around me, I can't help myself. We also went to a local neighborhood that puts on a fantastic Halloween display. They used to work at Disneyland so there is alot of Disney touches. They have several animatronics that pop up in the graveyard scene that is alot like the Haunted Mansion. They have several POTC scenes including the jail scene with the dog holding the key. It is awesome. I will try and post pictures after church but if I don't get around to it, here is a link to their website:
www.swanbroughmanor.com

I definitely do not have Trent or Bella's mindset about candy! I would have been right there with that little girl at her favorite, the awesome cookie-decorating station!

So happy that you have the whole group with you! That sure makes cooking fun!
Looking forward to the pictures when you put them up!
I think that's very cool that Bella isn't all that fond of candy. Oh to be like Trent. It isn't a fun battle to fight.

Busy day here in Kansas awaits us!

Chicken and Noodle making ahead. The chicken was cooked yesterday and I need to de-bone it. Marc will make the noodles.
Kids are coming to pumpkin carve late this afternoon.
I am making "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" shirts for tomorrow's Halloween parade at school for the teaching team. Shirts are washed and hung dried, all ready for the DIS iron on designs!
MUST dash out to Dillard's and try on some boots they are holding for me...:rolleyes1
On top of all that?
I have homework....

Yep, we have been watching the snow craziness on the news. I hope it is not indicative of what the winter is going to do to you or us!

Most of the snow is melted now. Apparently a bunch of people lost power. One of my mom's coworkers called and said their office building has no power and some places up there might not get it back for 5 days :scared1: :confused3 I'm SO glad we didn't lose power. If we did I was gonna be knocking on the door of the power company saying "Hey, we were some of the last people to get power last time, so we'll be first this time right?" I was so paranoid about losing power last night. I was charging everything just in case. I would explode if we had to have ANOTHER week without power

On a different note, I've been having weird Disney dreams almost every night this week. I wonder if that's a sign  I had a horrific one a couple nights ago. We were taking a 3:00 PM flight instead of our usual early morning one. Then it was delayed and we were gonna miss the 8:00 PM ADR that I booked. And apparently I hadn't booked any other ones for the rest of the trip :scared1: And the plane was made out of wood :rotfl: I can't believe I'm having these dreams before I even know if I'm going :lmao:
