Mingos in the Watah! What in the Wuhld?

You probably know what Pluto is trying to accomplish here, but as usual, it did not work.

Aw Brooklynn's face so cute in this picture :goodvibes

It's just raining here- there was no flooding and we didn't lose power. The sky is lightening up already and they're saying the rain will stop by this afternoon.

Awwww, Bella looks adorable floating in the water!! :cutie:
Garden Grill looks like a fun meal..I love how Mickey is in his little farmer outfit!! And it's very cool how the restaurant spins! :goodvibes

Still sunny and hot here. Watching the weather channel and sometimes they crack me up. They get so close or in one case appraoch the coast guard, start asking questions and then introduce themselves. :lmao:

Looks like the water came first and now the wind will blow through. Hopefully everyone will be OK and things can start to get back to normal in a few days or a week.

If I would have been in the house I where grew up, reports are that area is under 4 feet of water. We had a canal at the end of our street and Hurricane David in 1976 had water in the street but not up to our door.

Trying to text one of my childhood friends who lives north of there to get a report.

I'm a little bit behind, so here come my thoughts.

Jackie, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. My mom is also my best friend and I couldn't imagine what you must be going through. You are in my prayers during this difficult time.

MeMom, I'm so sorry to hear about little Crew. There is nothing sadder than the loss of a child, especially at such a young age.

Re: Garden Grill. I'm 30 and I think that the idea of a moving restaurant is AWESOME too!

Reporting in from central CT. So far so good here from a storm perspective. We are awaiting the back end of the storm that may have more high winds but haven't lost power yet... knock on wood!

Love the pictures from your afternoon/evening at the pool and Epcot.

How adorable is Bella floating along in the pool?? So cute!

I have to agree with Brooklynn that a moving restaurant is fascinating. It was one of my favorites as a kid although I can't remember what it used to be called. She looks so happy to be getting visits from each of the characters.

Thinking good thoughts for all the DISers who need them right now. I love our virtual DIS town. :goodvibes

Storm is over and everythingis fine both here in ct and at our house in va. We still have power, but lost cable & internet. Luckily I have m phone. I hope everyone else faired as well as we did.

We were very lucky here and did not get hit hard at all. There are a lot of twigs and small branches down on the sidewalks and in the streets in my neighborhood. Pretty much everything is closed, like malls and stores, but Dunkin Donuts is open. Go figure, right? Western Mass got the brunt of it, I think. Kailyn's friend has a tree literally leaning on her house, right outside the friend's bedroom, but I really haven't seen anything too bad here.

I know Christine messaged us on Facebook about this, but I'm not sure if she told you -- they lost power and she texted me a few minutes ago saying that she heard power might not be back in all of Rhode Island till next weekend. I really, really hope it's not true and that they are just overshooting so that people can't get upset for them saying it will be sooner, and it not being sooner. :sad2: She turned off her phone to save battery so I'm hoping to hear from her later, as she said, from her laptop with internet.

Irene is still up in New Hampshire, so everything's still in progress and we're waiting for another batch of wind coming our way. I lost power this morning, but only for a few hours. It is a tropical storm and has toned down, but a lot of flood warnings around here. I hope everyone else is all right who got a stronger bout of the storm.

I am so glad everyone is safe so far without too much damage. The pictures are great! Bella is so cute floating! We are eating at the Garden Grill this trip. It looks like fun!

I have already posted on Jackie's wall, but I want to say again how sad I am about the news. She has been on my mind often these last few days. I am heartbroken for her family. I am saddened by the death of Crew also. I cannot imagine what it is like to lose a child. My mom lost my brother and still struggles with it.
I have been keeping up with the weather. I hope everyone is safe still. 10 deaths so far. It is awful. Keep us updated everyone!

It seems like for the most part the storm was less than what people thought it could be, so that's a good thing.

They are having the service for Crew right now. I can't imagine the sorrow that is filling their hearts as this becomes 'final'.

Thank you, everyone.

What a happy update, MeMom! Loved seeing the girls' big smiles at the pool, and Bella cracks me up with the way she watches the characters approach and then scurries to safety.

Yes, that meal was a series of popping up and down for her, and she did very little eating.

Garden Grill looks very fun! I've not been there before, I'll have to add it to my growing list!

I bet the girls were wondering why the heck the view was changing!!

I'm watching Irene coverage on the Today show; I'm glad they're bringing us the news but good grief - do those poor guys & gals need to be RIGHT next to the water?! Scary!

I heard that a surfer (or maybe two) that wanted to test the waves did not make it. People should err on the side of caution.

Thanks for the pics of the Garden Grill! What fun to see the pics of what you get to see when the restaurant rotates! Something I've never been able to see, yet I've read and have seen dozens of reviews of the GG!

Sorry to hear that Marc's surgery was postponed this weekend and now both him and Anita are sick. Continued prayers for the two of them.

I hope everyone continues to stay safe if you are still in the path of what's left of Irene! Please be careful!

Yep, we did a lot of traveling during that meal, without ever having to leave our seat.

They are doing a stress test on Marc tomorrow. I know Marc and Anita will be glad when next weekend comes and this is a fading memory.

I liked that picture, too! :lovestruc

I'm sure glad you had no flooding, and to keep your power - that's even better!!! :woohoo:

Bella had such fun. She has no fear of water, so you have to watch her closely.

We like to see the characters in all of their different outfits, so that one is now checked off our list. :thumbsup2

Normal will be good. ::yes:: We went through chaos with the flood, and Jill went through chaos with tornadoes, so we can empathize with what people are going through and what they are seeing as they begin to come out of their homes.

Re: Garden Grill. I'm 30 and I think that the idea of a moving restaurant is AWESOME too!

I keep thinking they are going to lessen or do away with characters at Garden Grill sometime, so I am glad we got in before that happens, if it does. It was too expensive, in my opinion, but I am still glad we went.

In real DIStown, we will only allow light showers and nice, normal thunderstorms. ;) We won't let tornadoes and hurricanes and floods. Most days will be sunny and 75 degrees. :cool2: :thumbsup2

That Disney day was a pretty light one. We didn't do too much, but it was ncie and relaxing in the afternoon. :goodvibes

GOOD TO HEAR! :dance3:

I checked my messages between Sunday School and worship service, and she had said everything was pretty okay at that point - not a lot of damage anywhere.

I sure hope she doesn't have to do without power for very long. I, too, will hope that they are giving the worst case scenario. Keep us posted.

Wow...I am so infrequently confused over what to type...

I sent wishes to Anita for Marc and to Jackie and family on fb. I will have to continue to uplift them with prayers. I can't imagine losing a little one either, and I will add Crew's family to my list.

Memom- that was a rough week.

We were very lucky with Irene. I live about 30 min outside of Phila. We didn't lose power and have no damage. We had a tornado warning for 30 minutes in which my one daughter was quite worried...she is the analytical one. (What if the tornado hits us; what will we do when the hurricane comes? smart kid...)

Around me it is mostly power outages, but damage is limited. Schools are likely not opening tomorrow, however. Many of the school buildings are without power.

On another happy note- great update...love the shopping at Pop- I want one of those new notebooks and a mug. Garden Grill was moving quite slow when we were there. It only made it about half way around in an hour and 15...

Thank you everyone for the prayers, well wishes, and thoughts! This DIS town is just the best! MeMom was right, I'll be so glad when next weekend rolls around and our good friend Jen is here visiting and this is just a memory.

MeMom, I certainly enjoyed the pictures of the girls in that pool and the the Garden Grill meal. A certain October trip is carrying my through at this time!!!

From the information I have read so far, all of our DIS friends made out better than what we feared. :thumbsup2

We will look forward to your Garden Grill review.

It is too bad that all of the chaos had to coincide with the opening of schools. It's really too bad make-up days will already be used right now. :sad2:

Glad you enjoyed the Pop shopping, I probably took a picture of everything in there at least once during the trip, so you should get a decent idea of what all they are selling in most gift shops as of July.

We all hope Marc gets good results on his stress test so that he can get this surgery over with. It's not cool to keep a good man hanging out in a hospital gown for so long.

Just come and visit your DIS buddies as much as you can on these crummy days, and we'll try to keep you cheered up. :wizard:

After our meal at Garden Grill, we went to see where some of that food was grown.

Naah, that's not right.
It all started with a seed.

But where did the seed come from? :upsidedow

I want and need a banana tree at my house. We eat a lot of bananas.

Finally - a plant I can grow!

DisneySummer20112ndset132.jpg

I totally kept a cactus alive for a long time back when I was in my early 20's. Sadly, I left it in the kitchen window when we moved to a bigger house, and I didn't realize it until it was too late. I have always mourned that little fella. :sad1:

We always enjoy this ride. The girls like it, too. Maybe they will grow up better able to be gardeners having this experience numerous times, because they will sure not be inheriting any green thumb from any of us.

That's it for this morning. Have a good Monday, all. Many of us can look forward to a long weekend when Friday rolls around, so hang in there!

I LOVE LIVING WITH THE LAND!!! Seriously, this is one of my most favorite rides, I love everything about it! Just noticed though - didn't that "extremely hot pepper" use to be "the hottest pepper in the world"?

As far as the weather here, things have started to settle down, but we're apparently now going to start to see the flooding problems increase. Parts of our town were evacuated this morning, but thankfully not our area. A lot of road closures all over, flooding and trees down. We're just sitting tight here still (thankfully, with power still - it turned on and off quite a few times yesterday, but only for about a minute each time).

A Monday morning ride on Living with the Land is always good. We need a banana tree at our house as well -- a lot of bananas get consumed here, too.

I am with you MeMom, my "green" thumb is black! I do love the Land greenhouses, because they are so lush and pretty! I used to love the "Living with the Land" song, and sometimes I sing it in my head when we are going through the ride!

Living with The Land is fun, esp when it's hot outside & you want a break! :)

I also do not have a green thumb; plants cower in fear at my house! :)

Hey Amy. I was thinking about you today as we were moving everything into the cellar & garage. Hopefully no serious damage for you.

Hi Doreen!! Haven't seen you around in a while... didn't you have a TR going? :rolleyes1

We made out OK in the storm. We never lost power - it only flickered a few times, but we lost phone/internet/cable last night. (Luckily Tim is working from home & has a mobile hot spot so I'm stealing his internet for a little while.) First day of school got canceled for today but hopefully enough people will get power back & the kids will be able to start tomorrow.

My heart goes out to everyone going through hard times right now!
