Mingos in the Watah! What in the Wuhld?

Getting all caught up today! Love the pictures from Brooklyn's birthday. Made me wish I was a kid again. It looked like so much fun.

Hope you enjoyed Garden Grill. It used to be one of our favorites but the meal was not so good this last time. I do think it is the best character restaraunt out there. They usually stop by at least twice!

I just love Living with the Land. It is one of Jeremy's favorites.

Hope you are doing well and school is going good!

I am so sorry to hear about Jackie's loss. I can not image the pain of loosing my mother. Jackie and her family will be in my prayers. It is also heart breaking to hear about the little boy who passed away. I will keep his family in my prayers as well.

You got some great pictures on the boat ride. I have never ridden Living with the Land. I should do that sometime.

I love love love Living with the Land! It's such a great ride to just sit back and relax on.

Christine texted me again this morning saying that they still have no power. She and her mom investigated in the next town over and found out that they have power so I'm hoping they get it back soon, too.

I love Living With The Land! It is so relaxing and I always come out inspired to start a garden....however I also have a black thumb so I would just wind up with a dirt-garden! ;) It makes me happy that farmers are good at what they do!

Hi Doreen!! Haven't seen you around in a while... didn't you have a TR going? :rolleyes1

We made out OK in the storm. We never lost power - it only flickered a few times, but we lost phone/internet/cable last night. (Luckily Tim is working from home & has a mobile hot spot so I'm stealing his internet for a little while.) First day of school got canceled for today but hopefully enough people will get power back & the kids will be able to start tomorrow.

My heart goes out to everyone going through hard times right now!

Yes Amy I DO have a TR started & have to get back to it. I will explain my last month on the TR.

We lost power for 9 hours yesterday. We got it back at 9:40 last night. We were some of the lucky ones as some coworkers still are without. Glad to hear you did not loose it. We have a lot of branches & things to clean up but that is it. Today is a beautiful sunny day.:goodvibes

MeMom I also love Living With the Land. I am with you & Jackie-we could use a banana tree also. Between Cody & I we eat all the bananas before it's time to get more. Have a great Monday. I did not realize that this weekend is the long weekend until I read it here!!:yay:

Haven't DISed all weekend.
For those of you who do not already know, our dear DIS friend, Jackie, has had to deal with the illness of her mom over the last little bit. She wanted to keep it sort of quiet as they dealt with it in their family. Most of you now know her sweet mother died yesterday. I have been texting with her off and on through her mom's hospital stay. It was extremely critical at first, then it looked like maybe she was responding a little better, but in the end, she lost her fight. Jackie says she is devastated, of course. She thought she had many more years with her mom. Her words broke my heart this morning when she said, "I have lost my best friend. I talked to her every day." :sad1:

I have fought back tears a few times today in thinking of her. I know you will all hold her family close in thought and prayer in the days ahead. This was unexpected, so they are just dealing with it as it unfolds before them. I imagine she is in some degree of shock, too, as are the kids. Just pray for their comfort as they grieve for someone they dearly loved.

Jackie, I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you and your family.

Everybody also think of Marc and Anita as they get ready for Marc's surgery tomorrow. We hope he feels better very quickly.
Marc, I hope you have a speedy full recovery.

I am going to hope this is my last 'bad' thing for this week. I am very sad to have to report that a little boy that I have asked you to keep in mind in the past on other reports, Crew, the grandson of our school's speech pathologist, died today. He was a beautiful little blonde-haired three year old boy with a very sick body. He has an older brother and a younger one who will not get to have the privilege of growing up with him. Please keep this sweet family in your thoughts, as well.

my thoughts and prayers with this family as well.

I think I ate at the land when I was much younger with my family, more than likely I was still and an only child.

First off I have MIA for a while... sorry about that!!!!

Secondly, Jackie I don't know you but I am deeply sorry for the loss of your mom I know how hard that is when you lose someone you love so deeply!!!! But just know now she is watching over you and your family!!! :littleangel: Big Hugs from south GA

I hope Marc's surgery and recovery go by with no glitches! Speedy recovery wishes for him and kind thoughts for Anita!

Memom, I friended you on facebook! I hope you will accept!:rolleyes1 I loved the update from garden grill and living with the land. We love to ride living with land, always makes me jealous! Those people have such a green thumb and me I've got nothing haha!!! Well hope your week flies by so we can enjoy the nice long weekend we have ahead of us!!! :goodvibes

We've never eaten at Garden Grill...I've thought about it several times but just can't seem to commit, especially paying OOP...maybe the next time we're on the dining plan.

I really like Living with the Land, too! The girls enjoy it, also, and it's a good Soarin' baby swap activity. :thumbsup2

   to all our DIStown friends, everyone could use a hug every now and then...but, he's an extra one  for all those having a rough time right now.

Hope this is a much better week for everyone. :goodvibes

I LOVE LIVING WITH THE LAND!!! Seriously, this is one of my most favorite rides, I love everything about it! Just noticed though - didn't that "extremely hot pepper" use to be "the hottest pepper in the world"?

As far as the weather here, things have started to settle down, but we're apparently now going to start to see the flooding problems increase. Parts of our town were evacuated this morning, but thankfully not our area. A lot of road closures all over, flooding and trees down. We're just sitting tight here still (thankfully, with power still - it turned on and off quite a few times yesterday, but only for about a minute each time).

I'm not sure about the hot pepper. I'd have to research old pictures.

I think sitting tight for a few days is a good idea. :thumbsup2

A Monday morning ride on Living with the Land is always good. We need a banana tree at our house as well -- a lot of bananas get consumed here, too.

I've got two pear trees in the back yard. Surprisingly, they have not keeled over dead, and they do yield a lot of pears.

I am with you MeMom, my "green" thumb is black! I do love the Land greenhouses, because they are so lush and pretty! I used to love the "Living with the Land" song, and sometimes I sing it in my head when we are going through the ride!

I am always so inspired that I want to come home and start a beautiful garden, but I've never tilled that first inch of soil yet. We did have a garden at school, and we grew potatoes, lettuce, and peas. We had the help of an expert gardener, though.

Living with The Land is fun, esp when it's hot outside & you want a break!

I also do not have a green thumb; plants cower in fear at my house!

Yep, I have seen plants hide behind each other when they saw me looking at them in a store. It's true. They grew legs and moved. ::yes::

I hate it for all the kids who are already using 'snow days'. We had to use snow days for heat days a couple of years ago. Kids were getting sick on the hot buses.

Our Garden Grill meal was okay, but nothing fabulous for our tastes. It was too expensive, I thought, but the characters were good.

Maybe Jeremy will be able to have a nice garden when he has a home of his own.

Jill and I are going to sway Bella toward either a Nemo or a Little Mermaid party for next April. We have fun doing them.

I am so sorry to hear about Jackie's loss. I can not image the pain of loosing my mother. Jackie and her family will be in my prayers. It is also heart breaking to hear about the little boy who passed away. I will keep his family in my prayers as well.

Yes, you should ride it. It is very interesting. And like Katie said, it's a nice break from the heat, and you can get through the line, if there is one, very quickly.

I love love love Living with the Land! It's such a great ride to just sit back and relax on.

Christine texted me again this morning saying that they still have no power. She and her mom investigated in the next town over and found out that they have power so I'm hoping they get it back soon, too.

I saw the mesage when I got home. I hope it comes back on tonight. I know they will do their best to have a good attitude about it, though.

I have told Trent several times that I just want to build a rock garden. Rocks I could do. ;)

Yes - four more work days and then a three day weekend! I get to see my girls on Monday when they come back through from their Kentucky and Missouri visit.

We are glad to hear that your power is back on. :goodvibes

Haven't DISed all weekend.

Jackie, I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you and your family.

Took care of the FB request. See you over there!

I have to stay at school until 6:30 Tuesday and Thursday, so it will be long, but it will make the week go by quickly.

I think $40 was too much for the meal, but I am glad we gave it a try. We want to do them all. Well, most all of them, anyway. There are some I feel sure I won't ever do. I have no interest in Victoria and Albert's - way too fancy for me.

We use Living with the Land for baby swaps, too. :thumbsup2

The latest word I have gotten from Anita is that they did the stress test and are letting Marc eat up until midnight. If I hear anything else, I will let you know.

I loved that Living with the Land photos were my first pictures to see back on the internet! We love that ride.

We are back home tonight with everything back to working. Lost internet Saturday shortly after I posted here. Then lost power an hour or so later. Thank heavens for the generator. While the storm was not as bad as it had the potential to be, there is still widespread damage here in my area and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Hatteras Island is completely isolated except by ferry as the road is washed out in 4 places. Several restaurants and businesses as well as homes down there are destroyed. There are still hundreds of thousands of people here without power and trees down everywhere. The saddest story was an 11 year old boy was killed in his bed when a tree fell on his apartment building.

School was canceled today but we have to go tomorrow although power is not restored to all the buildings. They have to report to other buildings. Seems like a waste of a day for them since they can't work in their rooms.

The footage coming out of the northeast is just heart wrenching. I am glad to see that everyone here is safe.:goodvibes

Now there's another tropical system out there brewing...I do hope it stays away!

There has been some sad news shared on here since the last time I checked in.
I will say some prayers for Jackie and for sweet little Crew's family.
I'm very heartbroken to hear she lost her Mother.

My Aunt passed away last week.
She will be missed...a truely sweet lady who always gave of herself. :flower3:

:goodvibes...to Marc for a sucessful surgery. I pray it goes a planned.

I enjoyed the girls POP swimming pics! Love the smiles!

I can't decide what 2011 merchandise will be going into my shopping bag.

Great pics of the Garden Grill...it looks like so much fun.
We will be trying it in a months time.
Sorry you didn't get wowed by the food.
I'm very happy our meal is on Disney...just in case. ;)

I have to pick our 4 meals for the March trip soon.
Looks like it may be hard to narrow it down. Of course 'Ohana is a must do. :)

sunnystace ..we didn't get anything more than some strong winds and a gorgeous sunset yesterday.
I tried to take a pic of the beautiful colors in the sky but it didn't turn out.
Our trips are getting closer, my friend...can't wait to meet you.

Love that it's not just a hot pepper, it's an "extremely hot pepper". :lmao:

I do love Living with the Land. I've always loved the fact that the food that's grown is used in the restaurants in Epcot.

Lana, sorry to hear about your Aunt....
This just has been a sorrowful time for us all around here.

Thanks for your kind words and prayers for Marc. Everyone has been so awesome!

It will be great to meet you NYE on the Poly Beach!!!

Oh I love Living With The Land, such an underrated ride. It is just so relaxing and great to actually learn something while in Disney, school isn't lost there :thumbsup2

Hi there MeMom! I just got caught up the past 15 pages, and I know I have more still, but I wanted to hop over to say Hello, and how much I appreciate how you reach out to everyone when there are good times among friends and tough times. I like that about DISTown, too :grouphug: Already sent my sympathies and best wishes to Jackie, Anita, and Marc! :thumbsup2 School starting up really has taken me away from all my DISing, but I am finally getting out from feeling so behind. I have never eaten at the Garden Grill, Matt has never been impressed with the menu, but the setting and the rotating scenery seems really cool! Great photos at POP!, as always! I love my virtual shopping with you! I am so looking forward to seeing all of you in October! SO much fun in store there... I have a few more updates and chit chat to read through, so I will be officially caught up tomorrow!

A rock garden is a fabulous idea MeMom!:thumbsup2 However, I do have 2 lilac trees that I've managed to keep alive for a few years! I could mesh them in with the rocks!;)

I'm sorry to hear about your Aunt. Sounds like she was a very lovely person.
I'm very excited to meet you too!:thumbsup2 Not long now!

Lana, so sorry about your aunt  And Anita, I hope everything is okay with you and Marc!

MeMom, I am the same way with plants. I love them but I feel so bad buying any just because I cannot keep them alive! My mom won a potted plant from some game they were playing at a meeting at work, and she is trying very, very hard to keep it alive. Have you ever seen the tiny zen gardens? Little box of sand, rocks, and a tiny rake that you can make patterns in the sand with. I had one of those for a long time but I knocked it over. That kind of garden, I can handle, till my klutzy tendencies get in the way. ;)

I finally am caught up. Phew! I have been so busy with going back to school that I haven't had much time. Plus, I leave on Friday for a short trip to the world and I still haven't packed. Ahh! Anyone want something particular while I'm there? Memom, I hope your having a great school year so far!

Anita, I have already posted on facebook, but you all are still in my thoughts and prayers. I hope everything goes well and is resolved soon! Keep us updated. The doctor in me knows that the tests he is probably going through are routine and precautionary, but I know how it is to be on the other side also. I am sure everything will be great and he will be feeling well soon!
Hope everyone's week gets better. I just dropped my Cooper off for kindergarten. It is the first time he walked in himself and I just wanted to cry. He looked so small. I just hope he found his room! Just kidding, he knows exactly where to go.;)

Thank you Anita, it is tough loosing anyone because it reminds us of just how fast life can be taken away. She was just diagnosed with cancer a couple months ago...it went so fast for her.

I am sooo excitted to meet you on NYE! It will be an awesome night getting to meet with lots of friends. :yay:

sunnystace ..thank you, she was a special lady.
I will be anxious to hear all about the POR when I see you. I will need the whole scoop.

Megablocks ..thank you! I'm lucky to be meeting you too in the New Year!

momof2TNboys ...I am sending you a big hug for being a strong Momma and letting him go in by himself.
I cried like a baby the first day of kindergarden for my son. I was much better when my daughter went. Still cried..but not so much.
Looks like we will be meeting on NYE aswell!
