Mingos in the Watah! What in the Wuhld?

I think our flight arrives around 12:30. We will go and try to check in at our resorts. We are at OKW and Megan's in-laws are over at SSR.
As soon as we can gather everyone together we will make our way to MK as well. If you are staying on property I think you can get in, even if the park is at capacity. Besides by the time we all get to our resorts I'll bet the park will have cleared out some. I hope so anyway...

I added us to the list. I'm not sure what the font size was though

Gotcha! We are looking forward to meeting some DIS friends for the first time and 're-meeting' some we've had the pleasure of hooking up with on previous occasions. :goodvibes

We leave Alabama at lunchtime, so we'll be there around two. I'm guessing we'll be making our way to Magic Kingdom around 5 or so.

I think the rule is that if you are a resort guest you can get into a park, but not a park that is closed. Jill, Brooklynn, and I arrived on Christmas Day another year, and we got into Magic Kingdom just fine, so I am hoping it will be the same. I'd like to be able to see the Christmas parade and the special Christmas castle lighting/show on Christmas Day.

In preparation for the holiday season ahead, and in getting ourselves even more excited to be in Disney World on Christmas Day, I will offer some Disney Christmas decor here and there throughout the next few weeks. I don't put my tree up until Thanksgiving evening or the day after, but this year, I am skipping the tree since I will be gone for the holidays. I won't be back until after NY, and it'll be right back to school when I do, so I will enjoy looking at Disney decor here instead. :santa:

Enjoy your Sunday, all! After church, I am off to find a cute and very cheap craft for my students to make this week. We have to go to school Monday and Tuesday, so I am going to try to sneak some fun into those days. :goodvibes If anyone has a cute - and did I mention very, very cheap? - craft, I'd love to hear the ideas.

The faintest glimmerings of Christmas excitement have begun to creep over me and seeing all those fabulous Disney decorations definitely helped! (So did the Peppermint Crunch Junior Mints I found at Target yesterday.) I will see the castle in all of its lights one day! This year I will just have to be there in spirit. :goodvibes

Good luck finding a Thanksgiving craft today! :wizard:

I love the Christmas pictures this morning! I am getting in the Christmas mood. I am hosting my first Thanksgiving this week, decorated the house for Christmas this weekend, and did a lot of toy shopping for the boys. I am looking forward to meeting everyone on NYE!
I am not sure if the foam crafts are really cheap, but they have many things to make like turkeys. My MIL printed off all kinds of Thanksgiving crafts for the boys like cutouts to make turkeys, color by number, and alphabet games. They love them. I know that the Disney family magazine has really cute crafts on their website also.
Have a great day! Church for us and then to Dollywood to see the Christmas lights.

Last days at the World are tough, but at least your next trip is right around the corner!

I love the photo of the family of the day! What an amazing experience, they will remember it always!

I also love the girls in the speedway cars! I'm sure we'll be logging some time there on our next trip! Someone in our house is really on a cars kick at the moment! ;):rotfl:

I found those at our Target on Friday; I LOVE those things! I of course left them in Charles's car, but it will be such a nice treat when I have them later!

I was walking my dog today and a neighbor around the corner was putting up his Christmas decorations. I'm hoping there will still be some Disney decorations still up when we're there. I would LOVE to see the castle in all of its lights!

I'm in a great Christmas mood! LOVIN all the pics this morning!

I told Lexi they would have special ears...thanks for confirming it! ;)

She just came into my room so I'll show her the pics.

We are sooo excited to be going for Christmas! Got our Magical Express mail the other day! :woohoo:

I'm not making any park plans the first few days except to see Christmas stuff.
We do have ADR's scheduled but that's it.
I hope we don't get locked out of any parks....I am expecting the worst crowd wise until after Jan.1....and then we can ride to our hearts content.

Okay, just showed Lexi and no surprise she wants the Christmas Mickey ears, tshirt, Goofy, Chip & Dale and the Stitch...:rotfl:

Will they have sold out of the Christmas merchandise by Dec.28 when we arrive?

I think I will spend the afternoon in bed () reading about the holidays here on the DIS.
I need to make a list of the must do's...and I want to try that holiday sandwich at EOS, that you always get. Or was that Jill?

I must say that having this trip to look forward to after the crazy rush at work is amazing...may have to become a tradition...;)

Good luck finding a craft!
Lexi made a cute pine cone turkey one year.
Kids collected them in the school yard...so other than the decorations (colored paper feathers) they were free. :thumbsup2
She just reminded me of the turkey fan...teacher used the kids outline of their hand to make the turkey feathers. Glued on a turkey body and a stick. They all wrote "I'm a turkey fan" on it. Was cute.

I wish I could show you a pic but they are packed away...since our Thanksgiving has already passed in October.

My work did a cute activity for Turkey day. A light brown pom pom glued to the end of a short fat pine cone. Google eyes, then the residents cut different colored feathers from colored foam and glued them in-between the layers of the cone. Very cute!

I was at Target today but did not check out the Junior Mints. They sound really good!! I hear you Jackie. Someday I will see the lights on the castle & all the Christmas decorations also. Hopefully sooner than later.

MeMom I am glad you got your package. I was beginning to wonder!! I hope you find a great craft to do with your class.

I love all of those Disney Christmas pictures! I can't wait to see all the special merchandise, decorations, and food when we leave!

I can't look at them when they are out at Halloween, but as Thanksgiving nears, I am willing to peruse the newest Christmas decor that dons the aisles of stores. I don't put up decorations until the day after Thanksgiving, or if the girls happen to be here, we might pull out the small tree on Thanksgiving night.

It was raining when I left church, so I ended up skipping the craft-finding errand and doing the two more important ones. I needed to go by Kohl's and Kroger, so I am going to wing it on a craft when I get to school today.

That's where I was looking - on the Family Fun site. ::yes::

I really want to go to Dollywood during the Christmas season sometime. If we end up going this spring, maybe we will get the annual passes for not much more and go back next December for a long weekend, too. I'm pretty sure we won't be doing a Disney Christmas next year, so that would be a nice dose of Christmas fun.

The good thing about the summer trip was that we did not have to leave at a particular time. We drove, so there was no UnMagical Express time to meet. We could leave whenever we wanted to. :)

Little boys and cars just go together. Drew rolled Matchbox cars for miles and miles when he was little. He called them 'car-cars'.

I love all of the holiday decorations!

Me, too. More to come throughout the weeks ahead. :santa:

I have not had the peppermint mints, but I know I would like them. I'll have to check them out next time I am in Target.

I hope you get to see WDW decorations. What day to you arrive? I am thinking they will leave them up through the first week of January.

I love your Disney holiday pics - especially the castle lights, how gorgeous!

Beautiful in person, for sure.

Thanks for the craft idea. Since I didn't shop yesterday due to rain, I'll have to see what craft stuff I already have when I get to school today. We might do our crafts tomorrow isntead.

I hope you have plenty of overtime money to oay for all of Lexi's wants!

I'm the holiday sandwich person. It is so good!

I like it. Maybe I can take the kids out for a walk to hunt for pinecones. :thumbsup2 Unfortunately, it has done nothing but rain here for two days. Raining hard right now, too.

I better find something quick, huh? We only go to school today and tomorrow!

I love all of those Disney Christmas pictures! I can't wait to see all the special merchandise, decorations, and food when we leave!

Christmas is a very special time at WDW. You get decoration overload, for sure - as much Christmas as you can possibly soak in everywhere you look!

Memom, if you already have some pipe cleaners and foam cups and Popsicle sticks and string.....all you need for this activity is Borax and really hot water. You can make Pipe Cleaner Ornaments!!!! http://www.pallensmith.com/articles/borax-crystal-ornaments

I did this a few years ago...and I am going to do it this year too!!!

This sounds fun for January when we have snow on the way.

The kids talked me into putting up our Christmas Trees last night. The tradition is that I buy us all new pajamas for the night we put up our trees. We wear our pj's, bake cookies, light the tree, and watch a Christmas movie. Growing up, we always put our tree up on Thanksgiving night.

Dollywood was fun last night. The boys saw Santa Claus and had their picture taken. We saw beautiful Christmas lights and we rode rides. The funniest part of the evening was Jason. We rode the Polar Express 3D ride. It was okay, but not great. After the ride, Jason said "Disney would have done it much better". I cracked up because he is slowly warming to Disney and does not even know it. That is my evil plan.:lmao:
Hope you have a great two days at school. Cooper has one day of work today and tomorrow is Grandparent's day. Jason and his Dad are going and Blake is coming to work with me. That should be interesting. He has been known to knock on the door when I am in patient rooms before. :rotfl2:

That's it! The tree is going up this week! Maybe tomorrow after work! :) Thanksgiving is long done here in Canada but I will be in Indiana to celebrate it again, meaning it definitely won't be on the weekend! I wish I were heading to wdw for Christmas...lucky folks! I think the lights on Cinderella's Castle are just gorgeous! Someday I'll get back there at Christmas time!

BTW, I forgot to mention in my last post about the Jungle Cruise meet. We are getting to WDW on 12/30. We arrive around 2 pm. Could we make it an early evening meet? Around 5-6? If that does not work for others, that is okay.

I have not had the peppermint mints, but I know I would like them. I'll have to check them out next time I am in Target.

I hope you get to see WDW decorations. What day to you arrive? I am thinking they will leave them up through the first week of January.

They're definitely something I'll be grabbing whenever I go to Target (and I go to Target a lot. ;)) I found them with the stocking stuffer-type things.

We arrive January 4th. My mom read about the Osborne Lights being up till January 7th on the DIS, and double checked the official Disney website to make sure. The same person who posted about the Osborne Lights said that the castle lights will still be up, but we haven't been able to find anything official about that, so we're just keeping our fingers crossed.

I saw that Lana got her Magical Express mail the other day. That means we should be getting ours in the next couple of weeks!

YAY for Christmas in Disney :santa: When Chris and I move to FL, that's definitely something I want to do! Isn't Christmas just EXTRA merrier when it's mixed with Disney World? :goodvibes

Enjoy your last day of school and a nice 5 day weekend. We have to go Wednesday too, not sure why but it stinks! You deserve the break :thumbsup2
