Mingos in the Watah! What in the Wuhld?

There is no way that I will be there, but I don't know that Jill had finalized either going or not going with the in-laws. She wants to put it off until conditions are ideal moneywise, as in free dining or a great room discount, so I don't know what their dates will be. Our break is the first week in April this school year. I have a room booked, but it is very doubtful that there will be a trip in reality.

Brooklynn was still 4 when kindergarten started, but she turned five a week later. She's going to go to pre-first next year and then on to first the next.

I figured you wouldn't be there then :sad2: One day! I did start a PTR for that trip if you want to come over and join! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2814758

We don't have pre-first here, what's that like?

I think Jill is planning on going with friends in October, but I don't know that she knows what week. It'll be during Brooklynn's fall break, I would imagine.

FB will be filled with pictures from a bunch of DISers next week, so hopefully you can follow the travels in that way. How about the NYE meet? Can you make that?

I hope my October trip a) will happen and b) will coincide with some of my DIS friends that I'd love to meet in person!
NYE? I wish! We're still trying to make Europe happen in March. No extra pennies are to be spent. Stupid airfare...If only we could drive to London!

I'm curious too -What is pre-first?

I told him what you said.
He said, "Like meerkats are just found in abundance around here?!?!?"
He was happy to be paid up, and he was very gracious to the new furry friends who came to the house.

Tanya had a good time, I think.

I am glad you found a "real" looking meerkat. I did not venture out to CS but all I saw in the gift shops were Timon.

I am trying to get packed little by little. Truthfully, I don't think it has really sunk in yet that I am leaving Friday. I'm not feeling giddy, but that because of the stress of school. There was another article in the paper about how much this is threatening teachers' jobs, so it's a little unsettling. I know as the week goes on it will hit me, but I think school will do its best to keep me stressed out until I actually leave the premises Friday afternoon. :sad2:

I was that way too. I think by the time I made to the gate at the airport I was relaxed and glad to be on vacation. By the time I got off the plane in Orlando it was like being home. :goodvibes

Looks like a fun day at the zoo! I love the one of Bella walking alongside the stroller with her hands on her hips. Such a cutie! :cutie:

By the way, did you get my letter?

Looks like a great day at the zoo! Don't you just love getting out and doing stuff like that in the fall. :cloud9:

Yay for mingos! :laughing: :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Glad you got to see Tanya again. I know it's hard on you guys getting to know someone and being used to having them around and then things don't work out. It's great that they are still friends though.

:cool1: For being in the real AK next week!!!!!!!!!!! I sure do hate that our trips don't overlap though.

What a great zoo day!!! I just love a zoo. :) The girls are precious as always!! I love the stuffed animals they chose! Super cute!!

Your trip is SO CLOSE!!! It sounds like it'll be a fabulous time!!

We want to go to Louisville Zoo, too. Jill has been, but I haven't. She's wanting a Disney Store visit, too, and Louisville is our closest one.

Good morning, Memom!! I am at work and will be seeing patients in a few minutes. Ah, a start to another week. I will make it! So glad you are leaving this weekend!! You need the break. I am sorry you are still going through all this mess at work. Jason is going back to work next year and I am pushing for him to try private school. Cooper was in private school this year till the day before school when we had a major disagreement with the principal and he was not very friendly at all. So, we decided it was best to take him out for the year and put him in our local kindergarten until we decide what to do. It is a great school, but I volunteered the other day and I could see how frantic the teaching is now. It seemed like they did not have time to do anything in a thorough way. That scares me some. Also, there was one little girl in Cooper's class that was way behind and his teacher just did not have enough time to help her extra. I hope she gets help after school. It really opened my eyes and I will most likely be putting Cooper back in private school next year when Blake starts Pre-K. The only problem is that I will probably want to go back to the private school he was at this year. The superintendant is wonderful. I may have a meeting with him because there is still concern about the elementary principal and the issues we had this year. We will see. I hope you have a great week! Have fun this weekend and if you remember please add me on the texting list. I love getting your pictures!

I hope you get all of your school worries worked out. I feel like I am doing flash card Language right now. I am trying to teach verb tenses, but there is so little time. We have a thirty minute block, and we push it the whole time. I need 45 minutes, though, to go over it more thoroughly. I'm just hoping some of them pick it up.

Our system is going through some major issues right now, and for the first time since I have been there (about 16 years), I am thinking the private school pay and job 'insecurity' is looking better and better than what we have going. The rumor is that it is no longer a good thing to be a seasoned teacher. They want those, and the higher pay scales, gone so that they can bring in two year Teach for America kids and new teachers and pay less. It is sad that it has come to being all about the money, if that is true.

That is SO funny about the "peeting"! :rotfl: I am definitely going to think of Bella when I see the mingoes, and meerkats will definitely make me think of Brooklynn.

It's pretty funny to hear it in action, too. Maybe we can tape it one day and let you hear it for real.

I'm back and all caught up! It looks like you guys had a wonderful time at the zoo, and brought back some nice new "friends". :goodvibes

Do you by chance know the names of the new friends? I just love hearing Brooklynn's creative ideas.

Your next trip is so close! How exciting!

Sally Lemur and Manny Meerkat was what they started as. Bella's little meerykat was dubbed Froggy later that day. ;) I don't know if those are still the names as of today. Brooklynn usually ends up putting either Sparkly or Rainbow in front of her names, so it could be Sparkly Sally Lemur at this point. :goodvibes

I am so excited for you!! I hope that you enjoy your special time with Brooklynn!

I cannot believe that this time next week I'll be in Animal Kingdom!!!

I hope we will get to see you and yours during the trip - possible Sunday. :thumbsup2

I figured you wouldn't be there then :sad2: One day! I did start a PTR for that trip if you want to come over and join! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2814758

We don't have pre-first here, what's that like?

I visited your PTR before I started here. :goodvibes

Pre-first is just another developmental year between K and 1. It's for younger kids or any kid who just needs another year of maturing before facing the rigors of today's elementary school curriculum. In all my years, the 99.9% majority of people who gave their kids the extra year were happy for it, and I have heard many, many more parents of middle schoolers and high schoolers say they wish they would have done the same with their kids.

See above for the pre-first explanation.

Europe will be awesome. I don't think I can take a flight much more than two hours, though, so I think my worldwide travels will be very limited to this section of the world. :)

I am glad you found a "real" looking meerkat. I did not venture out to CS but all I saw in the gift shops were Timon.

I was that way too. I think by the time I made to the gate at the airport I was relaxed and glad to be on vacation. By the time I got off the plane in Orlando it was like being home. :goodvibes

We like the real animals, as I can use them in the classroom sometimes, too. Brooklynn loves animals, so one day when she is maybe a vet, she can decorate her office with all the animals she's collected. :goodvibes

I just had another chunk of valuable time taken up for Thursday evening. I didn't realize they were going to start the tutoring program the day before fall break, but they want to do the introduction day then so we can go full speed when we return from break. So, Thursday, when it is all coming to a crucial point for being ready, I'll be tutoring until 5:30 and then getting going on the crucial part.

Looks like a fun day at the zoo! I love the one of Bella walking alongside the stroller with her hands on her hips. Such a cutie! :cutie:

Yes ma'am. :thumbsup2

How are the wedding plans coming along?

It was a wonderful weather day for the zoo.

Trent's problem is that he thinks girls are too possessive and jealous. If they get at all like that, doesn't like it, but I tried to tell him that it's sort of normal for girls to feel like that when they like you. Who knows what his future holds? He is his own man, that's for sure. He is highly opinionated and can be really stubborn and annoying, but he can be such a tender, thoughful, caring sweetheart, too. Right now, he is trying to save up a good down payment on a house so that he doesn't waste money on an apartment. I think that is a very smart move. He has a good head on his shoulders, and he is a hard, hard worker. Everyone everywhere he has ever worked has said that, so that's a great quality. He's just got to decide if he wants to be 'possessed' by a girl or not.

I do, I do -- and the "fla" is lost -- they will be "mingos" forever more.

Same with us. They will forever be mingos! :lovestruc

They are preparing many things for us.

DisneySummer20112ndset663.jpg

I got a strawberry, which I ate right away,

DisneySummer20112ndset664.jpg

and a chocolate cookie, which was eaten in small bites over about two weeks.

I had to get some of this, because it had gotten such rave reviews from others.

Here's the nice fella that checked me out. His name is David, and he was new to the College Program.

DisneySummer20112ndset671.jpg

Get in line. My treat.
Okay, enjoy your snacks everybody. I have to go to school. See you later!

I want to try one of those strawberries! Everything looks so good!! Now I want caramel for breakfast .

Have a good day at school! :goodvibes

My cottage cheese for breakfast is just not cutting it anymore. All of those goodies look so delicious, I don't know what I would choose!

Happy Tuesday MeMom! I hope you have a wonderful day, knowing you're one step closer to that happy place!!:yay::yay:

Oh my gosh I love all the caramel things!! I could buy one of each & every thing in that place. :lovestruc. Hopefully 16 more days & I will be buying something there.

Hi all! I finally got caught up on here!
I'm caught up at work & home...so I can have some DIS time. :goodvibes

Our trip was wonderful, magical and so much fun....except for the getting sick part and spending 2 1/2 days in the room but let's forget about that. ;)

The 4oth at MK was great! I was so happy to be there. Not even the cold/flu could keep me away. Thank God, for the medicine at POP my DMom picked up for me.
It was a very smart move on my part to book a bkfst at CP that morning.
We just blew by the huge crowd at the gates waiting to get in.
I tried the Puffed French Toast and it was delish. We will have to have a do over because I really didn't eat very much.
I had my first ever DISmeet with Sunnystace that day...it was lovely chatting with her and her BFF Lauren before our Plaza dinners.
Which by the way is a very cute little spot to get a yummy bite to eat in MK!

I will deffinitely be there for the 50th with you all! Can't wait! :cool1:

We really enjoyed the MNSSHP too!
It was crowded and we didn't get everyone's autographs but a fun time anyways.
Yes, we did get the Dwarfs pic...after a long, long wait. :rotfl:
I was thrilled to be there and take it all in. It was a dream come true to see the Halloween stuff.

POP was as gorgeous as always! We came home with lots of pics and 3 extra bags...yes, I did alot of shopping...
Miss Anita would have been very proud of me! :rotfl2:

I am happy to say I didn't cry when I left on the Un-Magical Express...cause having another trip does wonders for your spirits.
I'm so looking forward to meeting everyone at the NYE Bash!

I almost booked POLY with the 40% discount for a split stay with POP but I decided to save the money instead...for more shopping....just kidding! :lmao:

I really enjoyed catching up, the zoo looked like so much fun!
You are lucky to have such a nice one so close by.
Thanks for sparing us on all the snake pics.
I went into the Caramel shop once and it looked soo good but it was just after stuffing myself at Chefs de France so I didn't get anything.
I vowed to go back but it never came to pass.

Happy belated birthday Jill...may all your dreams come true!

:yay: Get those suitcases out! You are leaving in just a few days! :yay:

Oh my word. I seriously should not have read this right now. I am starving and those pictures all look soooooo good. YUM! I'll take one of everything please. :goodvibes

My mom and I have already planned to hit the caramel shop on one of our Epcot visits, since we like going there just to walk around, shop, and eat. My dad can't stand caramel, so more for us!

I don't think I got to tell you, but we booked our first ADR's of the trip -- Chef Mickey's (of course) and Boma. I am very excited for zebra domes!

I can't wait to see that caramel shop. I won't even try to spell or say the name. I'm sure I'll want one of each of everything. THanks for sharing!!

WooHoo! :woohoo: I'm finally caught up! Only took over a week....things were tough coming back to reality this time. Next time I go, I'm not coming back! Although it was nice to see all of your pictures today and see what I'm now missing like crazy!

Happy belated birthday Jill! :goodvibesTrent is probably right at least partly, I know several people with your birthday. However, you are all very special!

MeMom, I loved your 40th anniversary photo tribute! It was amazing to be at MK that day. We were in early and got the buttons and saw the welcome show and went up for the presentation at the castle and the 360 degree version of Wishes that night. It was an awesome day! And I got meet up with CanadianWDWFan and her family which was lovely! It was a great trip and I took 1322 pictures so I will try my best to get some up soon! My laptop wont take them all so it will be a long process! Great, great trip!

The Nashville zoo looks like fun! Looks like you all had a great day together!

Oh how I love that little slice of caramel heaven!!! I could just sit in there and "smell" all day!!! So good!!! Can't wait to get back!!

Thank you for the treats this afternoon! Went well with my lunch!!!

Well in other news I have managed to pack LOL!!! Now to stop thinking of more things to stuff in the suitcases LOL!!

See you REALLY soon!!
