Hi!
I will be visiting WDW from London, England at the end of April.

My daughter will be 11 months old and still drinking formula but I use regular milk on her cereal. I am rather confused about the names for your milk varieties.

I drink semi-skimmed and the baby has full fat...so what will I look for in the shop? I have seen 2% and half and half before but I am not sure what they are.

What you'll typically find is:
Whole milk (full-fat, just right for your baby)
2% -- meaning 2% milkfat
1% -- meaning 1% milkfat
Skim -- meaning no fat

Hope this helps. Not sure about Costco and other shopping in WDW area, as I haven't been there in YEARS. (but will be there in 31 days!)

If you go to http://www.costco.com and click on "Warehouse locator" at the top of the page, you can enter "Orlando, FL" in the address section and it will also pull up a list of the local stores there.

babies r us is quite far from DisneyWorld - it's in Orlando proper, rather than the tourist areas. there is a toys r us at the florida mall, but the baby section is quite small.

just to add to the other list - half and half is for coffee, I believe it's half cream, half milk? but not sure on that.

I think that 2% is the same fat content as what is labeled semi-skim in the UK. You may find that US milk tastes a bit more 'processed' than the milk in the UK, and it might seem thinner to you for that reason. My DS always thinks that the milk in the UK seems "thick" to him, as if it has more cream in it, even though the fat content is equal.

BTW, lest you be here long enough to shop more than once. Stores label their milk with a different-coloured lid on the carton to make it easy to find the type, however, different store chains can use different colours. Don't assume that the same-coloured lid means the same in every store. I usually buy 1%, and of the 4 stores I normally buy from, 2 use pink lids for 1%, but one uses purple and one uses pale blue. The *most common* colours for the types you want are red for whole milk and royal blue for 2%, but double-check the label before buying.

Bev is right, half-and-half is not for drinking; it is a homogenized light cream meant for coffee or for cooking. Pure cream is always labeled as whipping cream in ordinary US supermarkets.

One more thing: milk here is always kept very cold; usually around 40 degrees Fahrenheit. For most of the year in Florida, if a carton of milk is left out at room temperature, it will spoil in under an hour. If you will not be keeping it in an actual refrigerator, always store it directly on ice in an insulated cooler of some sort.

If you were looking for a Babies R Us or Costco, maybe Walmart would be helpful. There is a great Walmart that we go to and stock up on baby supplies, water, etc near WDW.
