Military Discount Tickets

We just got back yesterday from using 4 of the 6 $99 military tickets we had purchased. We bought them through MWR in San Diego. When we bought them, the sales rep kept repeating that you are limited to ONLY 6, and yes, they have a way of keeping track. My husband did have to show his ID when we redeemed our vouchers at the entrance gate. After that, a couple of times they would just ask him if he was in the military. Our guests had no problem using their 2 passes (they are not in the military). It was a great deal and we are very thankful that we were able to take advantage of it! :thumbsup2:

ok... here is a question

We are going with our whole HUGE family in Sept.... 28 of us in total.

My FIL is retired Military but can only get 6 tickets.

But throughout our family we have other military that can get additional tickets, but they are not coming with us. for example, my SIL's dad is retired military. My other SIL brother is current military. So we can get tickets for everyone, but only 1 person going with us will have military ID.

Will this work?

Ok, I have a question about the military park hoppers.....
We will be going to Disneyland with my cousin who is active miliary. He will be buying all of us tickets on his base.
My question is.... my hubby, kids & I are planning to be at Disneyland 5 days total (so 2 more days longer than my cousin), so does anyone know if we can upgrade the military 3 day park hopper to a 5 day park hopper to extend our stay 2 more days after the military park hopper? Thanks!

Sorry but 1 military ID can be used for 6 tickets (no more).

Each military member who purchases one of the $99 tickets MUST PURCHASE ONE FOR THEMSELVES. So, if your SIL's dad and/or brother purchase tickets, one of the six would would have their name on it, and would only be able to be used by them.

Once tickets have been purchased using military ID, the only ID necessary at the gate is one to prove that your name matches the one that was printed on the ticket at the time of purchase. A regular drivers license would work fine.

At least this is how it worked for us a few months ago. Dad bought them at a CA AFB with his military ID, and regular ID was asked for at the gates upon first use. It is also what I was told would happen when I called Disneyland regarding these tickets (twice).

Good luck and happy planning!

Unfortunately these can only be upgraded to an Annual Pass. I am in the same boat as you - I need a 5 day hopper too!

Wish I had better news!

By any chance since these are 3 day tickets can we do MM with these tickets. I know just wishful thinking, but doesn't hurt to ask.
Thanks

Has anyone purchased these $99 tickets AT Disneyland yet?
So if people can confirm based on the tried and true method that the tickets can be purchased at Disneyland, I'd very much appreciate it.

I went last October.
We purchased 3 at the local base and YES the names of the three who were using the tickets were printed on them.
We then purchased 3 at the Ticket Booths at DL and YES the names of the people were printed on the passes and military ID was requested and shown to purchase these passes at the ticketbooth.
The Adults were the only ones asked to show ID at the entry gates and YES I proudly showed my military dependent ID.
What I really like about this promotion is that the 3 days do not have to be used within the 10 day window as the other multi day parkhopper tickets require. We had 1 day left on our tickets and plan to use it in MAY.

Ah, boo!!! So theres no way to add 2 more days at the park?

So I guess my next question is, how much more would an AP cost then???

Here is a link to the comparison of different AP types. http://disneyland.disney.go.com/dis...ated/landing?name=AnnualPassholderLandingPage

You would have to make sure that you get a type that is not blocked out during the dates of your trip. The cost of a block-out ticket is $50 a day. Just subtract $99 from the cost given on this chart and you'll find out the difference you'd pay for an AP.

Even though you can't use the special $99 military tickets, your relative should be able to get you regular military discount 5-day park hoppers. Although splurging for an AP would be fun if you could go again before the expire...

Oh really? Do they just buy these at the parks? Do you know how much the discount is? TIA!

And I was thinking *maybe* we'd get an AP for one of us so we could get all the discounts! ?????

You will have to buy them on a base. Each base has a different price so just call to ask. For example, since we are stationed in SoCal, our discount is not as great as the one for my friends that are in WA. I have an AP right now, but last year the discount was not very good and it was cheaper for me to order online direct from Disneyland for their online discount.

These are the 3 day park hoppers for $99 that they buy on base right? But can they get a military discount on 5 day park hoppers AT the park? Or even annual passes???

And really? Each base has diff prices? What is the online discount for military?? This is all so confusing!

My cousin lives in So Cal (who is in the military) but we live in WA and are flying down to stay with him for part of the time and go to Disney with them.

I'll try to answer in the order you asked. :goodvibes

Military members can purchase discounted park hoppers at military bases (the place is oftenly referred to as MWR or ITT). Military members can purchase discounted annual passes.

Yes each base has different prices. No real way to explain it but the facility that is selling the tickets at a discount does make a bit of a profit off of the ticket but it's still less than what you'll pay for at the gate.

There is no online military discount on the DL website.

Best bet would be for your cousin to see how much the parkhoppers are at his base and compare them to the online price of parkhoppers (because there is a discount on parkhoppers online right now). The AP at their base will be cheaper than the online price.

Hope that helps.

Steph

Sorry, I believe you misunderstood me. Someone else had suggest that you buy discounted 5-day hoppers with a military discount, and I was saying you had to buy THOSE on base.

Yes every base has different prices on regular multi-day hoppers, but the $99 3-day hopper is the same across the board. You cannot get them at the parks, they have to be purchased on a base. There is NOT a discount on AP's at our base here in San Diego. I'm not sure if other bases offer that or not.

There is usually a discount for buying your tickets online from Disneyland.com. That discount is for everyone, not just for military. I was saying that last time I bought hoppers, the discount from Disney for buying online was cheaper than the military discount on our base.

It has been a few years since my dad bought us discounted 3-day park hoppers from the nearby air force base, but at the time we saved around $15 to $20 per ticket (and this was $15 to $10 LESS than the discounted price at Disneyland's website). These were the regular military discount tickets that are always available. Even without knowing the current military price on a 5-day park hopper, I would assume that the military price would be hard to beat elsewhere. FYI.....the military tickets did not include Magic Morning. Also, my dad has always called ahead and was given the prices over the phone.

And regarding the special promo $99 3-day tickets that are available until Sept (or Oct), my dad actually paid $95 (this was at Beale AFB). So I concur with the previous posters about verying prices when you purchase at military bases.

Ok, thanks all! I guess I'll just have my cousin call or stop in and ask what all the Disney ticket options are that he can buy at discount! ;)
