Military Discount Tickets

I have the same question. The 4 of us are going to DL with my parents (who have offered to purchase our tickets through the military base.....Dad is retired military). We were going to arrive one day prior to Mom & Dad.....does Dad have to enter the parks with us the first time we use these tickets and show military ID? Or do you just have to show military ID when you purchase the tickets? He would buy them in advance on base. According to the info on mousesavers, the tickets can be purchased for family and friends. Hmmmm.

My dad has bought our tickets from the base for previous trips, but I can't remember what happened when we first used them because we were all together.

Also....I should mention that these don't sound like they have a Magic Morning. We tried to get in early on a previous trip without realizing that the military tickets were not Bonus tickets. Not a big deal...we just killed time in DTD. I guess I just assumed that all 3-day tickets were Bonus tickets. Just a heads up for others who might assume the same thing.

Thanks so much to the OP for posting this info!

The person who purchased the tickets doesn't need to be there when you enter the gate. They will be putting the users names on the tickets this year so all you will have to do is show your ID. If you are purchasing them at the parks then the Military ID will need to be present.

In '09 we did both... We were in Pensacola in January, so I took a long weekend for my son's birthday. By April, my birthday, we were back in California. They are different programs, so I think that is why. WDW was a 5 day ticket, DL a 3 day ticket. I guess the computers aren't connected from coast to coast!

That's correct. The two parks have totally different ticketing systems and don't interact.

Is there an official source for this?

I called DL and got the same response - but even mousesavers looks like it's changed it's site since the day it was first announced, now saying that the MM DOES need to be present (and yes this is for DL, not WDW).

It's really frustrating how much different information seems to be going around about this...it's hard to know what to trust and what not to.

I know Disney should be the word to trust - but I also know in the past,m with previous military salutes, Disney CMs were known to give out wrong information (not intentionally) - so that history, plus the different information from different sources, is making it really hard to know who to trust

Retired? us too. I finally got an answer from DL customer service - According to Linda Trump, Disneyland resort Guest communications "you will be please to know that you may also purchase these tickets at any one of our ticket booths on the day of your visit."

Are you SURE? Because I was told when I called the 1-800 # that they are ONLY available on base.

I would LOVE to do this, but I've already ordered through LMT. Those tickets are refundable as long as they haven't been picked up, so I'm considering taking my vouchers (5 day for $200) and seeing if the 3 day for $99 IS available when we get there. I'm totally ok with dropping a day or so for the $100 savings.

:confused3
Honey, where Disney is concerned I'm never SURE until a Disboarder verifies it! I just quoted the letter and the name of the person who sent it.

My dad is retired USN and has an AP. Does anyone know if he can still purchase these for family members/friends or does one of the tickets have to be specifically for him with his name on it.

My military hubby bought our tickets (6) at the end of October. At that time they did not ask about who would be using them and there are no names on the tix.

My question is whether I (as a military ID holding spouse) can now go buy another 6 tix. I can't imagine that the MWR office (much less DL) has a database that connects my hubby's SSN to the ticket purchase he made or anything crazy like that, so it seems like I could just walk into the MWR office and buy 6 more with my own ID.

We just want to be able to take my hubby's parents with us on our trip later this month and then take my parents in May.

Are there any spouses out there who bought the tix without their servicemember spouse with them?

The release did say the military spouse can purchase the tickets. Please remember that it is supposed to be a limit of 6 tickets per. Disney has shown a great kindness to us military members/retirees. It has been mentioned that last year people were taking advantage of this kindness. We may find that these wonderful savings will be stopped all together if we do not act honorably.

My dad bought some $99 tickets just before Thanksgiving (from Beale AFB), and they DID print names on the tickets. When he used them at the gates, the 3 adults had to show their ID (not necessarily military ID, just something to confirm they were the one whose name was on the ticket). The one child with him did not have to show ID.

If I were SanDiegoSteph, I would contact Disney regarding using the nameless tickets. I called Disney twice regarding these tickets, and spoke with a different person each time. They both mentioned getting a lot of calls about these tickets, and seemed to know what they were talking about. They both said that NAMES WOULD BE PRINTED ON THE TICKETS AND THAT YOU WOULD HAVE TO SHOW ID AT THE GATE TO USE THEM. I would be very nervous about using them with names. Maybe whoever sold them to you at the MWR office made a mistake. You could call them back too. I hope I don't sound rude, but I would hate for you guys to get to the DLR gates and not be able to enter because of something like this.

Maybe others can chime in if they used some $99 tickets without names....

Right after this was announced, our extended family was in Orlando and I went to Shades of Green with my BIL to purchase the WDW tickets. He's retired military. The Shades of Greeen web site indicated it's a limit of six tickets total - regardless of which military spouse purchased the tickets.

Shades of Green didn't take any information to print the names on each of the credit card sized tickets. We had to go to the WDW ticket booth to activate the tickets prior to gate entry. At the time, we only had four tickets for first entry and we will have to activate the other two tickets on our next trip.

My understanding is that either military spouse can activate the tickets after purchase, but they must have their military ID with them at the ticket booth.

You make a good point - I just didnt think about it from the standpoint of taking advantage of Disney's goodwill. We'll just be happy with the six tix we got and make sure to call DLR to be sure the MWR folks didn't screw up by putting no names on our tix.

Has anyone purchased these $99 tickets AT Disneyland yet?
My family is floating the idea of doing Christmas in August/September since my brother's (USMC stationed on Oahu) schedule has him set for deployment at the beginning of December (and it's too early to know if he'll be part of the team that's sent ahead of his battalion in November). Anyways, I'd like to buy the tickets for my family as their Christmas gift using my brother's id, but I wouldn't be able to fly out to Hawaii to visit my brother or have him travel down to Camp Pendleton with me beforehand (and therefore would not be able to buy them on a base).
So if people can confirm based on the tried and true method that the tickets can be purchased at Disneyland, I'd very much appreciate it.

Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased Oct. 24, 2010 to Sept. 28, 2011 at participating U.S. military sales outlets ONLY by Eligible Service Members (defined below) or their spouses (but not both),

I don't know what the final answer for the whole "will names be printed on it, or won't there" - but Disneyland has, for past promotions, had different policies than WDW.

So, just because there weren't names on WDW tickets, doesn't mean that DL isn't putting names on them.

I just called Disneyland ticketing at 714-781-7290 and spoke to a female representive, Alex. When asked if these tickets could be purchased AT the park, she at first said no, only on base... then she stopped and said, "Wait... hold on..." put me on hold, and came back and said, "Actually, the 3 day military park hopper CAN be purchased at a Disneyland ticket booth"... so I hope that answers this question for everyone. We're going in 2 weeks, and I'll post again to confirm all went down well.

Too bad coalition forces don't count.

Just so you guys know, military members(and family) get in free to seaworld and the zoo.

Kind of...

Sea World is limited to one free day per year for the service member and up to three dependents (http://www.herosalute.com/cavatx/index.html). The zoo and Safari Park offer unlimited free admission, but only to the service member, not to family members, although dependents can receive 10% off admission.
