Mid-December camping

Right now it's too soon to know. Dec weather can be mild, warm, or cold. Last year the cold started moving in around the 13th. That's "cold" by FL native standards. What can happen in Dec is wind, cold strong wind. That's what gets you. Add rain and it's cold windy rain.

If you are going to be staying in a heated RV than camping would not be much different than staying in a resort. I will be at the world (not at FW this time) Dec 8-13. I'll be checking the weather about a week out to decide how much "warm wear" I will need to pack. Last year during my time frame the temps were daytime highs of 73 and night lows of 51. For me 51 is cold!! :earseek: Especially if the wind is blowing.

But when the sun is shining and it's 73 degrees it's wonderful!

I have tent camped in mid December at Ft. Wilderness, and yes it gets cold, but I have a -20 sleeping bag and an electric blanket on my air mattress so once I get to bed I was pretty toasty.

The only problem is when you are in a hotel or RV, you can be warm without being in bed. Unless I was in bed, I was bundled up in my thermals, coat, hat, and gloves.

I'm hoping it goes back to a warm trend this December, plus I'm going earlier this year, Nov 29th - Dec 8th.

Last year, Orlando was so cold by the third week of December. I can't imagine enjoying camping out in that kind of weather. It was bone-chilling cold! I could not concentrate on the CP show because of the cold. BRRRRR*
I would try for up to a month earlier, or during Spring.
