Mickey's PhilharMagic-Grand Opening / Media Event

I just read on an older thread that the "Grand Opening / Media Event" for Mickey's PhilharMagic is/was scheduled for 10/8/03. Has that changed at all? Does anyone know if the attraction will be open to guests prior to that date?


We will be in WDW 9/28-10/10. We had 10/8 planned for our last in the MK. I think it will be a good idea to move our MK day from 10/8 to an earlier day bc. probably it will be too crowded on the media event day.

PS-I know that no one can make any rock-solid predictions but if you could just base your reply on previous attraction openings that you've watched unfold, that wd. be great. Thanks!

I just posted this on another thread about Mission Space - I was there for the media event for Walt's 100th Birthday. They did not create big crowds. They will probably hold an after hours party for them at MK. Being it's a Wednesday, MK will probably close at 7:00pm and they will have the party for them after. Mission Space is on 10/9, my bet is they may close Epcot early for them since it's normally open later. For Walt's 100th birthday, they closed MGM at 4:00pm that day and held their party that night. I would wait for the October hours before changing any of your plans. All the media event is broadcasters from tv & radio stations across the country do special reports there.

In my nervousness over planning "the perfect trip" for my family I guess I blew it out of proportion (in my mind) when I read this news about the media event. I pictured crowds in MK even the day before & after bc. of others trying to avoid the 8th. (as if non-DISer's would even know about it! )
