Mickey's backyard bbq

Don't think we haven't done that. We're easily amused. Sleep in your driveway and start a campfire in the frontyard. Good thing we live way back in the sticks.:rotfl:

 woo woo....I thought I was the only person that did that! My husband just pulled out the tt and has started de winterizing. My daughter asked when we are going camping now that daddy has the camper out, so we are going to "camp" in our driveway this weekend!!! The kids love doing that!

We went to the BBQ last summer with our son and daughter in law and the grandkids (ages 6 and 8 months). We all had a great time. Thats the only dinner show they want to do again---its not as structured as everything else and the kids could get up and move around. The character interraction was great and Mickey even led a conga line. I have some great pictures but I'm technically challenged and could never figure out how to post them. Go to the BBQ and have a great time!

mrsscooter, enjoy camping in the yard the weekend. I will be at the fort!! :woohoo: :cool1:

Kimbere, your pictures are making me even more anxious to do the BBQ on Sat. night. How early do I need to get there?

We arrived at the BBQ about 5:45. Don't forget to get your tix at the office by the Hoop De Doo if you don't have them already. We got seats at the table right next to the dance floor. :goodvibes Have a great time!

LOL.. it's funny you mention that, last summer we spent more nights in our TT Next to our house rather then in our house!! We ended up leaving for our vacation to the fort about 8 hours late cause we decided to sleep in the camper on the driveway hooked up to the truck! That was a mistake we will not make this year!!!

Lets face it. We ALL do it!

Spending the night in the camper before the trip sounds like a good idea!

Lets hope that this year we all will learn from our mistakes and pass on our wisdom to other dis members!! :hippie:

well, after all of that wonderful advice, and getting all excited about the fun we would have, reality set in quick. SOLD OUT:mad: We are going to be there the second week of June and the Thurs. and Sat. shows were full. I should have thought about it sooner I guess. Live and learn. Thanks again and I will be posting more questions soon. David

bummer! It doesn't mean you have to give up. Try again later....there are always cancellations!

JDC,

There are ALWAYS cancellations. Heck, I just decided two weeks ago that I wanted to go Memorial Day weekend and through persistence, I got it. You just have to be stubborn enough to call every day and call early and late and check the website. You will find the ressie you are looking for. It just might take a while.

Oh, that totally stinks!! Keep calling the ressie line for cancellations! Maybe you'll get lucky, especially if you are flexible on the day.

We attend the BYB at least twice during our 3 week stay in Fort Wilderness every December-January. We have a ball each time. We have adopted 3 medically fragile, handicapped children (all in wheel chairs) and they all
enjoy the music, characters and dancing in their wheel chairs. Needless to say the grown kids and grandkids love it too. And the food is delicious. I will add here that we also took our other 2 adopted children with us before they passed away. Our 33 month old fragile daughter died 12/14/06 on the way to Disney and our 33 month old fragile son died 12/23/08 while we were at Disney. The people in the Campground and the cast members who have gotten to know us over the past many years were
wonderful to us during this time. We have had only 2 bad experiences at Disney and 1 of those was an obnoxious guest and 1 a not so nice hostess (Supervisor). I guess we have made at least 25 trips there.

Our next trip will be December 13, 2009-January 3, 2010.
All the Christmas Decorations are packed and ready for the trip.

Having said all this......do get tickets and enjoy the Back Yard Barbecue. It is well worth the money. Loads of fun and good eating.

We are Disney regulars with our grandchildren. Took our 3 and 4 year olds to the BYB last year, and I must say it was the only character meal in Disney that we were disappointed in. If you don't have a table close to the dance floor, the kids cannot see anything. We thought that the characters spent a lot of time with several of the children and the others were left out. We were able to get only one picture/autograph. I think that this is probably best suited for children that are a little older....6-8 year range. I felt it was disorganized and expensive for what you get. You can get the same food at the Trails End Buffet for a lot less money.

We expected more of a 'show' where the characters would be onstage entertaining...it is not. The characters mainly stayed on the floor and danced with the children...the only problem is that parents are crowding around trying to get their children to dance with the characters and the smaller children get pushed out of the way.

We've gone a couple of times and it was a lot of fun. The first time the kids were 14 and 15. We went when we were at the fort for Christmas 2008 and it was just as good. However, the kids were older this time, 21 and 22. I would definitely makes plans to attend. The kids can dance and have a great time. They don't have to stay seated at the table. Also, the characters pose for pictures, just ask.:earsboy:
