Mickey, Minions & more. 2 week holiday. Updated 9/14 - FINAL THOUGHTS

After our tour of Springfield and then a little spin through it we decided to move to fight aliens. First we had to put our stuff in a locker. No items may be held while riding Men in Black. Their rules are dumb if you ask me but whatever.

No pics inside obviously. Basically it is like Toy Story Mania just kicked up a notch. You do at one point spin 3 or 4 times in a row. It is a fun ride though.
Afterwards we got our stuff and I snapped a few pics.

I then turned around and saw this.

The coaster in the distance is the Rip Ride Rockit Coaster. **Spoiler** I did NOT ride it.

Maybe next time I will ride it but 2 weeks before we got there on the news the ride got stuck for almost 3 hours at the top where they go over and the people had to be rescued and that was in my mind.
Looking back at the Simpsons Ride area.

We walked along some and I got a text from someone who was in the park now. Will we meet up? Stay tuned.

We did come to Diagon Alley construction. I am looking forward to seeing this area. This is the 2nd part of Harry Potter they are building and they will have the Hogwarts Train to connect the two areas. I am so excited and they will have a simulator ride which sounds really cool. I would post a link but last time it was all asterisks so google it if you are interested in what is coming here.

I think they do a night show here.

One more construction pic.

On the walls of the construction they had posters of their big hits. Definitely one of my faves.

Another view of the Simpsons.

Buildings from the old Jaws ride. I miss that ride.

Then we came to Disaster. The name says it all. I do not like it. I find it boring. It is long and just not satisfying. Vinny and Renee decided to do it so I sat outside and waited. I text the person we were to meet for a possible lunch and then waited.

I waited for 40 minutes for them but that is okay because I knew the ride was long and I had water and people watched.

I think I will stop here.

Up next,

Do we meet up with the mystery guests and where do we go for lunch?

Hi, I'm here finally.
so little time to Dis...
Looking forward to more...
Congrats on the weight loss...

hugs,
KIM

:welcome: Glad you are here.
I understand that.
Thank you.

Ooooh, Diagon Alley! I guess I'll have to plan another trip back to Universal again. A Gringott's ride sounds fun, but I hope it doesn't make me as sick as the Forbidden Journey ride did!

I hope you got to meet up and see where you get lunch!

When is the Harry Potter construction suppose to be done.
I must live in a cave-I had no idea, they were adding on to Harry Potter.
We are going in February-and I thought all of the crowds would hopefully have died down. Now I am wondering if I should wait till the new addition is completed.

I heard it is going to be less intense but right now it is all rumors.
Next update you will see.

Not sure. All I see is 2014.
I would go and enjoy it all then go again next time and see it then.

I wanted to stop by and say hi. I'm one of the grannies that was suppose to go on the trip with Rosie but I decided it would be so much more fun to injure my back ... 3 compression fractures. Would have enjoyed meeting you and sharing a meal together. Now I must go back and catch up on this TR!

Linda You were missed !!!! So you gotta come in May and get to meet the Dynamic Duo !!!!! Hey Scott you too !!!!:goodvibes

I have not been on disaster in over ten years, but remember it being pretty boring

People watching is much better

I do not blame you for not going on that Roller Coaster after people were stuck on there for over 3 hours. I can't even imagine

You are not missing much.
It was much better.
I couldn't either. I would be screaming that people in California would here me. :lmao:

People watching is half the fun of these trips, isn't it? :hyper:
::yes:: it certainly is.

Hmmmm...I don't remember having to get a locker for Men in Black. But then it was years and years ago and it was only Mark and I and all I had was a purse that went over my shoulder? :confused3

I remember the first time we did Jaws; our oldest son cried the whole ride. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Great pics.

Rosie, when in May are you going? We'll be there in May/June.

Yo do now. A lady got on with her bag criss crossed on her body and they told her to put it in a locker. The bag was small too.
:rotfl2: That is funny. I loved that ride but sadly it is gone.
Thanks.

That is some pretty impressive construction they are doing with the Harry Potter addition. It looks really cool. Do you think it will be done by next October???? :hyper:

All I remember about MIB is that my kids rode it a million times. I quit after the second ride.

Cool pics of the park. I can't imagine being stuck on a ride for 3 hours. That would be enough to make me swear off thrill rides for life. :faint:

I think the newHarry Potter is to be done by late Spring or early summer, but of course no official word yet that I have seen.

I am excited for it too.

We did Disaster last trip too. It was OK. I liked the old version better myself, but they did have some neat technology in there. It was one of Claire's favorite rides, and Skip hated it. :lmao:

We did like Mne in Black though. That was a lot of fun. I think the whole locker thing is stupid too.

Men in Black is my DS5's favorite ride ever. The lockers are a pain...the lines can get long for them even if it's not busy. But it's all good, we go with it. We also skip Disaster, it's one of those been there, done that..and my kids (and me) get bored :duck:

I miss Jaws very much...

Rip ride rock-it has to be the worst ride to be stuck on...maybe Dr. Doom too :faint:

We were going to do a split this summer, but we are sticking with WDW only. I can't wait to see the completed HP expansion...especially the train :thumbsup2 Maybe another mini-Dec. trip this year :scratchin

Kathy we are going the 8th thru the 13th, so we will miss you, any chance for early October ?????

Cool pix! We are excited for the HP expansion. We spent so much time in WWoHP on our trip in ’11 and our only thought was that it should be bigger. So we expect great things! I too am sad the Jaws is gone… we were in line and the ride was halted because of the rain. So we never made it on that trip. :(

Can't imagine being stuck on Rip ride for ever one minute (but then again since I'm never trying iit, I'm safe. :rotfl2:)

We solved the issue of needing lockers by not bringing any purses, backpacks in..we heard that this was true for FJ as well. We just crammed our wallets anyplace we could on our bodies. :rotfl2: The camera went into short pockets that had a button. Sunglasses got put in the shirt/bra. we may have looked oddly misshapen BUT we didn't have to wait in the locker line! :rotfl2:

so no changes my friend?? :goodvibes :yay: for a darkside dec trip. :thumbsup2

:rotfl: My DS was scared too! But he didn't have a problem with getting a pix at the Jaws photo opp. :goodvibes

I had a couple of updates that I had to catch up on. The pictures of Vinny are too funny! You can totally tell that he was having a great time. Like I said before, it's been years and years and year since we've been to Universal. It's too hard to tear ourselves away from Disney.

Oh my, I would have passed on the Rip Rid Rockit Ride as well. That was to recent in the past to forget what happened to those poor stuck people.

Ha ha Disaster sounds like an interesting attraction but I'll take your word for it that people watching was more interesting. ;)

The expansion plans for WWoHP sound excellent.

It was impressive and I can only imagine what it will be like in person.
I have no clue. I only read 2014.
:lmao: It spins quite a bit.
Thanks. I would die on it. I could not imagine.

me too. Though I doubt I will get there this year.
I am right along with Skip. :lmao:
The lockers are my only complaint about the park.

Thankfully it was not busy so we walked right up to a locker.
I can understand the boring part of the ride.
I miss it. :(
I would die on both of them.
I look forward tot he train the most I think.
Lucky you for a mini trip. I think no trips for me being we are doing Italy/Paris.

:( too bad about not getting on Jaws.

I carry a dlsr camera with a wrist strap so it would not fit in my pocket. :lmao:

:lmao: That photo op was so busy this trip.

He did have a good time.
Vinny gets bored I think and so do I (the horrors) so we like to change it up a little. But like I said it is ever 2 or 3 trips. Definitely not every trip.
