Mice Chat Reporting Disneyland Hard Ticket Christmas Parties

I really love the description of this... hope it lives up to/is as well done as it describes because I'm seriously considering it. Hmm....

I'm a little bummed about this news since the events are all on Tuesdays or Thursdays. For us out of state with high school aged kids who don't want to miss school, these are impossible. I hope all here who are local get to go and post amazing pictures and reports for the rest of us!

Wow, this sounds like it’s basically aimed entirely at locals: week night parties, mix in starts at 5pm but party doesn’t start until 8pm so locals can swing by after work. “Rare” characters, photo opps, special food and merch for purchase, that screams local pass holders to me.

It’s really not for me. A showing of the same parade that’s available outside the party but no special fireworks? So Disney saves money on fireworks those nights AND gets $165/person for those party nights? Will probably be very lucrative for Disney.

I am really interested in going but am not a local and agree that the weeknights are tough with kids. I'm one who can't justify taking the kids out of school for Disney (especially my HS junior with 4 AP classes). They probably won't talk to me for a week (month?) if I go solo but I might do it anyway...

AP classes? Pfff... as long as they pass the AP tests in May, they're good, right?

But I also endorse a solo trip, hahah.

As for the party, it looks fun, and a $165 price point would mean a lovely, empty-ish park on a Tuesday night. I'm debating, but we'll see.

I don't really understand this party. So, it's basically like 6 separate zones with (probably) loud, obnoxious music and "dance parties" going on? That's it?

I don't understand the $165 price point. I don't understand anything about this. It's not for me, clearly.

More money - fewer people, that's all I'm seeing (or hoping for).

What, you didn't like Videopolis, either? For shame! :smokin:

They should have thrown in MSEP and jacked it up to $200, THEN i'd be all in.

At that price, and mid week, I think the park is going to feel lively but dead when it comes to crowds. If you want to just get on everything but also get into the holiday mood, I think this will be a really nice event.

Probably not worth traveling in for, but ya, for locals, pay to play in the empty park and get ready for the holiday!

I thought I’d be upset it wasn’t offered over our trip, but after reading what it includes and the price point, I’m thrilled. No early closing and except for the “rare” characters and photo ops, most of the rest is offered during normal park hours.

Interesting news! We'll be there for one of the party dates, but unsure if we're going to go ahead and do it.

Eh. As a local, you can get that feeling by visiting midweek the first 2 weeks of December. I've never felt that Disneyland lacked in Holiday festivity. This event seems really weird. What do these characters, specifically, have to do with Christmas?

There would have been an all out mutiny if Disneyland took away the holiday parade and fireworks for regular guests.

Yeah, I kind of feel the same way. Obviously they are doing the “parties“ but this feels a lot more like a WDW extended hours thing where you pay to stay in the park later.

I have nothing against this party, especially since it’s late on Tuesdays and Thursdays it doesn’t impact my visits at all. But not having any weekend dates, and being so late in the evening, it doesn’t exactly seem like it’s geared toward people with school age kids.

I imagine that crowds would be pretty low for this because it’s on a weekday, and because of the price point. So anyone who is a big fan of Disneyland at holiday time who also wants to experience a lot of attractions (although not all of them) would probably enjoy it.

I feel like it's for the social media crowd moreso than anyone else.

It doesn’t appeal to me either. And of course, we will be there on a Thursday. I have no desire to fork over another $495 (if not more since it starts at $165) to not get anything that sounds super exciting. $165pp for hot chocolate, a cookie, and a dance party …. sounds lame to me. 😬

Well I'm not local but one of the dates falls on my already booked trip. I've discussed with my friend and we're going to try for tickets for a couple reasons. Fewer crowds, fun photo ops, special merch (yes I'll throw more money at disney), a party atmosphere etc. We did say though if we weren't coming off the last year & half this isn't something we'd probably pay for but darn it we could use some extra holiday magic. Might be a waste of $$ but we're willing to give it a shot and see how it is.

This seems like a rip off to me, so I'm glad my trip there ends a couple of days before. $165-175 for 7 hours, but you can't ride Rise, Smuggler's Run, Winnie the Pooh, Splash Mountain or Roger Rabbit? I'd rather just go a day early, pay $114 for the whole day without the park closing early, add Genie+ for $20 and still come out $30-40 ahead. I'm usually a sucker for these things but the pricing this year is awful.
