How long does it take to get from MGM to Spoodles? I've heard that the Friendship boats are really slow - is this an hour long trip? I'm hoping to set my ADR for Spoodles to accommodate watching the parade at MGM, and then taking the boat over to the Boardwalk. Or maybe it's quicker to walk??? (Although it will be August, so it might be too hot for that.)

In August, the walk will be hot and it's about a 15 minute walk if you aren't rushing. The boats do take a little bit of time, coming from MGM, it stops at Swan/Dolphin first and then i'm not sure if it goes to Boardwalk first or YC/BC first but your trip could take about 30-40 minutes.

Is the boat the only option to the Boardwalk from MGM? I thought there were buses as well? If there is a bus, I'd just grab that.

You can take the boat to the Swan/Dolphin, then just walk over to Spoodles from there. It should not take too long.

Coming from MGM it stops at the Swan/Dolphin theYC/BC then the BW. It is faster to walk but it may be to hot......
if you are going from Spoodles to EPCOT or reverse I would say to walk that as it is only about 5 minutes. :thumbsup2

Walk! We just got back from BWV. It astounded us that people were willing to wait 20 minutes for a boat that goes very slow when you can walk on an uncrowded path in 10 minutes. Yes, it's hot, but it's hot in the parks, too. If you can handle that, it's not a big deal. We found that the worst heat/sun was gone by about 6:00 anyway. Then it was just warm.

Great link, Bob! Of note...it's obvious you were on your own with the 4 minutes from Jellyrolls to ESPN...there's a store in between there that DW never gets past, so for us that's closer to a 25 minute walk. :)

For the OP...I'd walk it, unless your tuckered out and want the break in the boat. It's a warm walk, as Bob stated, but pretty liesurely as you just walk next to the canal. A shortcut is once you reach the Boardwalk Villas is to cut through the pool area which will save you from walking the whole Boardwalk from Jellyrolls on around.

Also, once you're done at spoodles, I'd also walk to Epcot. It's not more than a few minutes to the IG and quicker than the boat, unless you can run right on the boat. If you have to wait on a boat, you can definitely walk it quicker. (We do...two strollers. ;) )

Thanks for the link. I believe the parade is at 5:30pm, approx 25 minutes. My current ADR is at 6:10pm, which I think I will try to push back about 1/2 hour as I don't think we can get out of MGM quick enough to get over to Spoodles in 15 minutes. But if I can't move the ADR, I guess we'll just try to find a spot closer to the exit to watch the parade, and then leave it a bit early.

Do the parades generally run on-time? Where would be a good place to watch it so that I could get out easily (possibly while the parade is still in progress)? Where does the parade route start? I think we were over by "Doug" (I know, that's been closed for a while) last time we watched the parade.

In my experience, the parades always start on time. I think the MGM parade ends at the entrance, so you may want to station yourself at the beginning--not sure where it starts. In Jan. we had a great seat by the ABC Commissary, and the parade came from the right.

Some of you must be speed walkers! I walk at a pretty good clip, and it takes me 15-20 minutes to walk from MGM to the Swan.

There is no bus service from MGM/Epcot to any of the Epcot resorts.

It should take about 15 minutes to get from the entrance of MGM to Spoodles.I have made it in just uner 10 minutes but I was speedwalking!! Now, if it's hot/humid, and since it will be August you can pretty much plan on that happening, you could take the boat. If there is a boat at the dock, with a short line, then hop on. It should stop at S/D first. You can hop off there, walk over to BW...about 5 minutes. Then, when you get to between Atlantic Dance Club and Jellyrolls, hang a right (otherwise you'll walk into the lake!) and head for Spoodles.
If you walk from MGM then take a right, into the Luna Park pool area. Head to the rear of the pool, under a covered area, with the arcade on your right, restrooms on your left. Then head across the Village Green to Spoodles. Yum!!!

Another shortcut, if you do decide to take the boat - exit the boat at the first stop, which is Swan/Dolphin. From there, the walk to the Boardwalk area is quite short, and you won't have to wait through two more loading/unloading/docking of the boat.

It's a 10 minute walk or a 30 minute boat ride (with stops and stuff)! Have fun - Spoodles is one of our favorite spots!
