Mexican Riviera Cruise with WONDERful Souvenir in the Works! 6/7 PTR Link!

Just catching up with your trip report - we were on the same cruise, we're in the background (blurry) of one of your palo pics (dessert table! yum!). Congrats on the pregnancy! This cruise was our first and we celebrated our daughter's 1st birthday on the cruise :) We couldn't believe we could have such a relaxing vacation with a baby but it was great, everyone was so nice to her. We even changed the date of the cruise we had booked on board to go again sooner (Pacific Coast in September).

Hi!!! I'm back on the DIS more now, because SING ended last weekend! It was a huge success, the kids produced 2 phenomenal shows and everyone enjoyed it!

You had asked me about the ginger candies for morning sickness...I just buy them on Amazon. The company is Ginger People, and I buy the Ginger Hard Candies. They also sell something called "Ginger Boost" which is a chewy candy, and has more ginger in it. I like the hard candies though and felt that they worked just fine. They also make crystallized ginger (actual pieces of ginger root, and they are sugared)...I find these to be too overpowering but some people love them. Ginger root tea also works well and has no caffeine.

I am definitely going to check out your blog! Hope all is well and that you are feeling well! :)

Hey Leshaface,

How was your experience with your stateroom? I books a 9B GTY for my upcoming Mexican Riviera, and was just assigned 2598 today! So, it looks like we'll be in the same room you had...wondering how you liked it!

Josh

Just read the blog, can't figure out how to post on there. How are you feeling this week? Hopefully good :)

I just got back from a week being away so I'm behind on everything. Love the video of telling the family :)

Hey! I've been so behind on everything, I haven't even started my mini-tr but I'm trying to get caught up! I willl head over to your blog shortly! What a great idea! I wish I had been into blogging when I was pregnant, it wasn't even that long ago and there's so many things I don't remember. I do have a blog for Jack and me and our current adventures, but I haven't posted lately. Like I said, I'm behind on EVERYTHING! :lmao:

Sorry guys!

I have definitely been down and out. This week was rough. Even looking at a computer screen was hard; headaches constantly. But I have to say, today i'm feeling great! I woke up with no sickness or headache and feel like I can get a lot accomplished today (that is if I still feel like this later.)

So that means an update right now! I tried doing it last week but the DIS was being worked on.

To answer the question about the stateroom, I really liked it. It was really centrally located to the bars and restaurants, and only a quick elevator trip away to the upper decks. I know people complained about the noise on the ship, but we didn't hear anything and we were very comfortable. Honestly, you're going to really enjoy that room!

Today was our last full day at sea. I was sad, but glad we still had some things we wanted to do today.

We woke up pretty late, around 8:45am. The one thing I really wanted to try was a sit down breakfast, especially since the sit-down lunch was so successful. I checked out the times on the Navigator and realized that Triton’s stopped serving breakfast at 9:30! Holy cow, we had to get up and dressed quickly.

We made it down there RIGHT on time. In fact the time I snapped the below pictures is showing 9:28am!

I decided to go with the Disney Cruise Line Breakfast Trio, which included a Belgian Waffle, French Toast, Buttermilk pancake, and bacon.

A server does come around with different breads and pastries from time to time, which is nice, because I’m always craving pastries (even though my entire breakfast basically consisted of sugar.)

I believe DH ordered an omelet. Sorry no pic of that. Breakfast was a bit rushed because they were trying to get ready for the lunch crowd, otherwise it was really nice to finally have a sit-down breakfast.

After breakfast, DH and I checked out the navigator. He wanted to go check out the 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament that was going on upstairs, and I had seen a Seminar on Cooking that I wanted to go to. He headed upstairs and since I had 10 minutes, I headed back to the shops to buy a few things. Look at this cool phone cover

DSC00274.jpg

I ended up buying a DCL Christmas ornament and a lanyard that I should have bought a long time ago for Sis-in-laws Christmas present. It was now 10:10 and I made my way to Studio Sea to check out ‘Disney’s Art of Entertaining – The Entrée’.

DSC00275.jpg

They had a bunch of tables set up with napkins and forks. I sat down and was handed the menu (also a recipe card!)

DSC00276.jpg

Today the chef (from Animator’s Palate) was making a Braised Jerk Seasoned Pork Chop, served with a warm Curried Peach Relish and Cornmeal Cakes.

And he got started right away!

Not sure what he's demonstrating here! :lmao:

DSC00280.jpg

He was very informative about how high the heat should be and substitutions for different ingredients. He even talked about his chef’s hat called a Toque. All the folds in the hat represent ways to cook an egg and there are 100 pleats! I only know, maybe 5 or 6 ways to cook an egg!

Okay, this part was really surprising to me. As the CM’s were handing out samples of the food that he made, he asked everyone if there was any questions. There was about 3 or 4 women, that had NO idea how to cook. Two of them even stated it out loud that they don’t know how to cook and that they’ll make this their first meal! I was shocked! I guess I figured all women knew how to cook to some degree, but these women, had literally no idea. I felt embarrassed and sad for them at the same time.

Anyway, here’s my plate of food, and we even got a small sample of Toscana wine which is a blend of Sangiovese, Cab Sauv, and Merlot. It was a really good wine pairing with the pork.

Honestly, this dish was delicious! I’m actually going to be making this dish next week, so wish me luck! After the seminar was over, I headed back to the room since I had no idea where DH was and if his game was over. This was on our bed:

aaawww :( That last day makes me sad when you see luggage tags. I really wanted to do the cooking series, I will have to check that out next time for sure! I Love the baby blog BTW! :)

DH and I were interested in the Art of Entertaining sessions. Now having seen your report about it, I'm sure we'll both enjoy it!

Disembarktion papers already! Not good.

Glad you were able to squeeze into breakfast :)

I finally figured out how to use my own picture for my avatar. That's my 10 y.o. Siberian Husky Conner. Speaking of dogs what did you guys decide about a 2nd one? or will you hold off since the baby is coming?

Thank you for posting all your documents! It's very helpful. I like the idea of having a sit down breakfast at least once during the trip (well in addition to the brunch).

So I could think of about seven ways to cook an egg, scrambled, poached, fried (if you count over easy, medium and hard that could be three), sunny side up, hard boiled, soft boiled, baked, in a souffle....what else did you come up with.

This always amazes me when people can't cook. We watch this show on the Food Network called Worst Cooks in America, it's on it's third season. Anne Burrell competes against another chef to train a "team" of complete cooking idiots how to cook. Each week people are eliminated and the two who are left compete to see who was trained better. We just watched the first episode of the season this week and it makes me wonder how these people have survived without being able to prepare meals for themselves. :confused3

We have a pending real estate deal right now and if it comes through, we're going to book the November 18th sailing (Thanksgiving Week), so I'll be studying your Navigators thoroughly! I want to be sure and attend all the cooking demos on the ship if I can.

It was terrible seeing those luggage tags:sad1: And thanks Jessica!

I really enjoyed it and wished I had gone to more. That's something i'll definitely be adding to our itinerary (well, at least my itinerary) next time.

Yeah, we just decided to wait on a dog. There is literally NO WAY I could house train a dog right now. I can barely move around the house, and cleaning up dog poop does not sound like my idea of fun. I guess the boxer was a blessing in disguise. You're dog is so adorable!

That is pretty much the only ways I could think of too for cooking an egg!

I've seen that show, but haven't watched any recently. In fact, i'm not watching any of my normal food shows (Triple D, Man v Food, etc) because any food looks yucky right now.

AGH! OMGOSH, OMGOSH! Here's some pixie dust for you :wizard:pixiedust: I really hope you guys will be able to book it, especially since it's probably not coming back! When do you find out if it happens?

Now I'll have to google it! :rotfl2:

Sorry food sounds icky, is it the second trimester when you start to have all the funny cravings? Arline was trying to find out where the Indian Restaurants in Tulare are for you, and I said, "No rush, I don't think she's interested right now."

Well, it's this investment that her parents left us when they died, it's called a Tennant in Common. Us and about 100 other investors have already agreed to the sale. The buyer has already placed a non refundable deposit (which is in the millions of dollars). We only own like 1% of this office building so it's not like WE get a million dollars, but as they say every little bit helps. Now we just have to wait. They estimate that it will close Mid April. Because Real Estate is so volotile, we can't make any plans until the money is safely in our bank account. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :dance3:

I wonder if there really is 100! I could think of: coddled, omlet, fritata, quiche, and maybe marangue but that may be a streatch. It be fun to see how many you can come up with!:-)

thanks for sharing and posting! we just got back from our cruise!

Leasha...I hope you are feeling well Mommy!

I'm sorry to ask you this. But I've spent 6 hours trying to figure out how to post pictures to my trip report!

I went to the disboard picture place...but when I post it, it just comes out the link. How did you get your pics posted to your trip report. Thank you! :worship:

Yeah definitely not in a rush. Last night, I was able to eat 3 bites of brown rice and 2 asparagus spears. And I think/hope you're right about the 2nd trimester. I'm really hoping my love for food will come back with a mean and nasty vengeance.

Wow, awesome! Hey, April is still plenty of time to get to planning for a cruise in November. I really, sincerely, hope you're able to go. I really think you guys would have an amazing time. In fact, one thing we did, which i'll be updating on soon, is something I actually thought that you would like to do when we were there. Hopefully i'll get that update soon.

Oh yeah good thinking! Now we're up to about 15 of the 100 ways :rotfl:

thanks for sharing and posting! we just got back from our cruise!

How was it?!

Nope, still feeling terrible, but thanks for asking! :goodvibes

No worries! Do you have a Photobucket account yet? If you don't, make one first. It's free! This is where you'll be uploading your pictures from to post onto the DIS.

If you already have a photo-sharing account, what you do is on Photobucket (or whatever sharing account you have), hover over the photo you want to use and select the IMG CODE. It looks like this..http://i928...that's what the beginning of the code looks like, it's not the full code.

Highlight and copy that code and paste it into a post. If you still have trouble let me know!

Hi! I hope you're feeling well. Yes, the second trimester is usually when you feel the best...you stop feeling sick, you have a hearty appetite, you have your energy back, and you're not that big yet so moving around is still relatively easy. But of course everyone is different...some women have big appetites the whole time, some don't, some feel great and some don't. But everyone I have known says they had a lot more energy the second trimester than the first. Hang in there...soon enough! ;)

I enjoyed reading your cruise review! I'm trying to look into the future and picture your trip reports when you go with a little one! :goodvibes
