FQ Lori - hope those flights came through for you. I was worried when I read your posts.

Ms. Marigny - told DH the irony of your situation with the Road Home inspection just this week. He just shook his head in frustration.

Our hearts are breaking for all of you. Someone mentioned in an previous post how they couldn't believe the strength of NOLA residents after all these struggles. There may be little else left to get us through this time.

Most of my family from Lafourche parish is here. Things are looking very ominous for the bayou area. Rie's Mom - if you're lurking, I've got the EDW gang here!

I know it'll be difficult for everyone to have access in the coming days. I'll be checking in as long as we have power to see how y'all are doing.

my heart is breaking as I type this. G keeps asking me when we are coming back and I had to tell her "I don't think we are baby." we are getting on the road and the computer has to go in....

Prayers said for you all. Both DH and I have lived in New Orleans before. I am praying that Gustav slows down and doesn't have much impact on anyone. My family is still on the AL Gulf coast, but they aren't evacuating.

Guess who made it out of the city?!? After finally falling asleep at 1am and Chuck our cabbie friend calling at 3am to move up our pick up time (he was going to stay but decided to leave) we are running on no sleep, but we got out on our flight!

We just got in the car in NY and we're headed down to check in with the pipeline office and then head over to Detroit for a couple days.

Thank you all for everything. Just about everyone we know has headed out.


I backed up my photos to a portable hard drive, picked up our wedding album, wedding rings, some jewelry my grandmother gave me before she passed away last year and paperwork. Threw in a sweatshirt and a work outfit and rolled on. I wanted to take more but I just stood there and said "screw it I can't do this."

It was Katrina's aftermath that brought me to the DIS when Rick went back to work and travelling all the time. You all made me feel a little less depressed, a little less alone, and a little less bitter. You've let me come here and cry my heart out more than once. I love all of you gals and am praying for each and everyone of you that you make it through and have something to come back to.

My next door neighbor is staying- please add her to your list. Her name is Lisa.

Hey Y'all, We are in Alexandria at Josh's Mom's house. Actually we are in Ville Platte. We were going to head to Nashville but we are too numb & tired. We are going to wait until tomorrow & see how bad it will be. We may just stay put. She has a lovely home & has welcomed us with open arms & gumbo!

My Mom & brother are still on the road trying to get to Nashville. They left at midnight last night!

Let's pray this storm stays weaker.
