If I may ask, where and when did your parents depart from? And how long did it take them to get to Jackson? We'll be leaving sometime in the early am (before contraflow).

They left from Metairie (almost in Kenner). I'm sorry, I don't know the exact times as I am in South Florida (we are 1 hour ahead so I get confused). I did speak to them approx 11:30 NOLA time when they had just gotten on the road and again about 4:30 NOLA time after they had checked in to their hotel.

Well kids, we got an earlier flight for tomorrow, but if the airport closes at 6 it may get cancelled (it's a 7pm flight). We're calling in the morning to find out for sure.

The hotels have told everyone to be out by 4pm tomorrow. We've talked to more than a couple of people that are now stranded with no where to stay because they couldn't move their flights. Not sure what the right answer is on tourists since the last time wasn't right, but I'm not sure this one is right either. The hotels didn't tell them anything except maybe they could get stand by at the airport.......standby?.....Hello, they're evacuating the city, do you really think they're going to find a seat? I at least told them about the buses and the stops. Geesh!

Don't know yet, we did get the call tonight that our flight is cancelled.

Don't think the explorer would make it out because we never drive it. In fact we'd have to jump it to even get it started.

I still have some possibilities in the works though.

In a way, yes. But I wish it were over. I have an uncle in Slidell who says he is staying at home this time!

Lori FQ- what are you going to do??? I wish I could have left a key to my house out somewhere for a friend or family to use if necessary. I am thinking from your car troubles that you won't be able to get that far anyway-but I'd so let you use my home. It is above i-12 on higher ground and no trees anymore. Please let us know what you finally do, if you have time.

We are safely in Talahassee. Not sure if we are in the rignt spot, but at least further from the projected path. We were going to head down to Orlando(and still may) but Hanna has a changing path. Maybe Dallas would have been better!!! We just thought west was not smart at that point. Heck, we were confused about what to do anyway!

We may be running back from Hanna!

I am concerned for my brother,like I said before, and his wife and kids. BUT my mom, who is my mawmaw's caretaker(she is 90),stayed home in Metairie. I think this was a poor decision since her mom is on O2 and if the lights are out for any length of time she will only have o2 for 11 hours.I am kinda disappointed in her for this. Her hubby won't leave, so she won't. But you have an elderly person who is needy and I think it is time to leave for a place with electricity. JMHO.

I feel for our healthcare workers, mostly b/c I am one and my friend who used to work at Ocshner main campus was severely traaumatized for K. My prayers go out to ALL essential personnell for a much smoother ride than was Katrina.

I am praying for all my Dis NoLa friends. Please keep safe.

Well, on a fluke I checked the Southwest website and found 2 seats on a flight to Albany, NY at 8:25AM tomorrow.

Don't you know I tripped all over myself to get them suckers booked!

We are flying out (fingers crossed) tomorrow morning.

Now, if you could only take a carry aboard rollerbag what, of ALL your belongings, would you take?

And no booze.

You'd think they'd lift that liquids thing for me just this once.

Lori, I've been checking every thread you post on and am beyond thrilled you are getting out. I was so worried you would be stranded. I don't know about lifting the liquids ban but if anyone can talk them into it.......
