Glad you made it safely to your friend's house in Decatuar. I refused to drive any further than BR this time unless I absolutely had too. Being in traffic from Rita and the other previous storms has made me hysterical.

Keep your head up and spend quality time with your family.

we resolved that this time we would not mope around. we are going to a space center in huntsville on Tuesday hopefully!

Sounds like you are set up. I am sorry , so so sorry for your friends loss. I have never been there but experienced lots of pain in that area(kids passing) so it hurts everytime-mostly from childhood cancer.

Its been raining for about an hour and the winds whipped up a lil, but all is well and we are playing "beauty operator" . She and I are doing each others hair and makeup lol.

I am looking for something cool to do tomorrow so we are all not moping round here getting on each others nerves. Of course, Haley has to be feeling a bit better.

I am okay, just one thing on top of another-what's new

Ashton's make a wish trip revolved around her being sick(not just cancer sick, but fever sick) and we had to postpone-soon as she was almost totally well, we took a chance and went, 3 days late, on her WDW wish trip. Well, God was with us there b/c her body completley healed by day 3 or so. Her spleen was back down, her labs were normal(we had all checked at the Walt Disney Memorial Cancer institute). So, being a sap not only for my kids, and for Disney, of course, it draws me there even more being so close. Haley could use some healing and we all could use some "out of our element" FUN!!!

Not sure that will happen b/c we wanna go home just as much.

Lorie, you may not have seen my post but since you are stable and so close to us in Tallahassee, what do you think of Hanna? Think we'll have issues if we head that way? I wanna have a few days of fun if we can under the circumstances, unless we can get home SOON, like in 2 days!

Our plan is to stay here tonight and tomorrow night and head to Orlando after that should Hanna stay away. I do not want to run from 2 hurricanes.

We have pet care there from Mon-Fri only.

I'm so sorry Haley is sick! Hopefully it is just the stress and it will go away quickly.

I'm not worried about Hanna. From what I've seen so far, everything points to it hitting north of Orlando- I would be more worried about Jacksonville or Georgia with Hanna. Orlando is south enough to maybe get a few sprinkles and breeziness, but I think that would be it. Remember it rains a lot in September in WDW anyway, so it wouldn't be anything out of the ordinary.

Since we're heading to Disney property this morning we'll be having to pay for wifi, so I won't be online much.

Morning all!

Hope everyone has a nice day in the cities they are visiting.

Kristina.. the Space center is awesome. There is a really nice city park in Huntsville too.. with a butterfly area.

There is also caverns outside of the city that are neat and a drive thru safari place that is fun.


Winds are whipping up a bit here, but not much rain.
Jim Cantori just told me that because Gus is moving so fast that it wont rain as much as with a slow moving storm.

Ill try to check in later but imagine we will lose power in the next hour or so.

DB in ascension says it isn't that bad at this point either, but that they are "still prayin"!

Says too that there are power outages in my neck of the woods-but it doesn't take much to lose power in West St Tammany!

We stayed here in Ville Platte, it's windy & raining now. The wind is picking up & some big branches are coming down. But we still have power. We've been eating very well, big hurricane breakfast this morning. Fried fish & shrimp last night, leg of lamb for lunch. Jenny you must be getting it bad right now, stay safe. So far no flooding anywhere that we have heard of. We'll just keep praying, y'all stay safe!

DB called about an hour ago and told me he changed his mind, he was "scared sh--less" while sitting in a carwash with other fellow sheriffs officers. Haley perked up, but I am forcing liquids down and she actually ate lunch- a very healthy mac n cheese ! ha! She had motrin a little while ago and wanted to get dressed and walk the dogs. So I came here to see what's happening.

Hopefully she is getting over whatever this is.

The dogs have been fine but Hershey(the 3 year old) doesn't like to be in the kennel in the car.

I forced DH out with Ashton as to avoid getting this funk Haley has. PLus she was BORED stiff. They have definitely gotten use of thier DSlites this evacuation. We got them for them a few months back-they saved for half.

hope everyone is doing as well as possible. wish i was with Lorie, heading to WDW-but we are coming home-electricity pending!

Jefferson Parrish schools are closed for the week. Leaders are urging everyone to stay away until they can get the electricity and sewer services up and running. Jindal is also saying we still aren't in the clear, we are still on watch for levee breaches until tonight.

OKAY they are saying no electricity till Saturday, so we may be heading to WDW-but I changed it to ASm b/c it is a LOT less(that frugal part of me).
Plus the differnece will pay for the dogs. Gonna pack-see you very soon.

Hi guys! Safe here in Hattiesburg, just want to go home so badly. As soon as they say we can return to Jefferson Parish we're on our way. I am so thankful we were spared this time. I hope everyone is OK!

Here's my second hand report.

I am in Minnesota, but two people (and 4 dogs) evacuated to my condo in New Orleans. It is on the 6th floor in a building made of cinderblocks, concrete, and rebar - not very pretty but very sturdy.

The electricity went out on Monday morning and is not back yet - but the electricity at their house 7 blocks away is now back on.

They have power, cable, internet and phone, etc. with only 1 tree limb that they had to get out of their drive way. They are very happy that they stayed so close.

Anybody know what the electricity situation is around Delta Playground/Our Lady of Divine Providence Church? That is where my parent's house is - off of West Metairie between Lynette (or David Drive) and Roosevelt.

I hope you are all well. We went to Meridian Ms in gridlock traffic and stayed in a hotel for 2 days. Came home to my moms on Picayune this afternoon cause we didnt have power in Slidell. Finally a neighbor called this afternoon about 4 and said our power was on, cable too. No water in our house this time (Thank you God!) and no limbs in the yard. We made it thru here in Slidell relatively unscathed. Hope you were all so lucky.

If you want to move to a nice area in Slidell, convenient to schools and shops, let me know. This house is going on the marker by next hurricane season and we are moving somewhere north! LOL! Not out of La. but north of where we are. I just cant do this again.
