Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

See that's the problem right there. DH and SIL were talking about even getting connecting rooms! :scared1: I'm thinking no way! I need my space! I don't want to seem like the snooty one here, but geez.... that's a little too close for comfort (for me)! I'll have to talk to DH about it some more. I have no problem with meeting up with them, but to be stuck together like glue is not my idea of a vacation. Also, and I'm not trying to be ugly here, but SIL has an infamous bad temper. :furious: I'd be walking on eggshells the whole trip trying to avoid ticking her off about something. Fortunately DH didn't inherit the family temper (MIL calls him her sweet child :rotfl: ).

Yeah, well we have had connecting rooms with some friends and it actually worked out okay.(10/03 and 2/05) If we were okay with opening the door, we'd open it, if they never opened thier door, well hey, they weren't in the mood!! And vice versa. Now this past trip(2/08) we had connecting rooms and I told my brother how we did it last time and they opted out and that was perfectly good with me:laughing: !!

The same people that we had adjoining rooms with that it worked out(10/03 and 2/05)-well the mom has a potty mouth at times and was arguing(and cursing) with her kids in MK(2/05) about being scared of a ride and she wanted her kid to do it and was YELLING at her about it-grrrr. Anyway- we did have a good trip but by about day 3, we split off and did our own thing. Not out of frustration so much as it was that we wanted to do different things. But we had spent the 1st 2-3 days together mostly. It was a good trip and i like traveling with them b/c we vacation similar with bringing lunches, etc-so we shared b/fasts and snacks.

On the 10/03 vacation, we had 4 families and it was TOO much. 1 family was new, the other our friends(above), and thier brother/kid and parents. By day 3 of THAT trip, heads were starting to spin, so we broke off quick, in the middle of DHS!!!

You REALLY have to know your limits and everyone has to be open enough to accept those limits. I bet she has limits too. It is truly FUN to go with others(esp if Sienna cannot ride something and can be watched by someone so you and DH can ride) and being with family can be soo good, if everyone knows it is THIER vacation and that you do not need to be together the whole time. There are some rides that you can ride with nieces and nephews and you can share good times, but only if , like I said, boundaries are respected!

Good luck! hey, it is another trip to WDW-look at the BRIGHT side!!:woohoo:

Lorie, I agree a little distance is better! Our last trip with Alexis & her Mom and Dad we did a one bedroom at BCV. Nice in that it had a full kitchen and a whirlpool tub, but a bath 1/2 was not enough. I really didn't like not being able to retreat to the quiet of "just us" in the evening. Even though we had the bedroom & could close the door, it wasn't enough "space" (if you know what I mean;) )
We're going with them again in Oct. & instead of doing a 2 bedroom, we decided on 2 separate studios. Last trip we pretty much spent all of our time with them, but this one is F&W Fest so we'll be apart a lot more. And the abundance of alcohol should help too!

If you are interested in staying at a deluxe, renting points at a DVC is a good deal. Remember I found SIL a points rental at SSR for $600 bucks for 5 nights.

Hey ya'll:)

We got in late last night. We took a small trip to Destin. My mom and dad's anniversary is July 3, so we usually make a small trip out of it. It was a lot of fun, but very crowded.

Sunday night, Erica started having pains in her right side and nausea. I called her pediatrician, and he reccommended bringing her to nearest emergency room (he was afraid she had the symptoms of appendicitis). Three hours later the pain got worse, then it was gone. After doing an ultrasound, it turns out it was an ovarian cyst that burst. She's fine now. I still worry about her, being that I'm a big worrywart.

Lorie, we will be taking the Carnival cruise soon with DH's family. Its the one that leaves from here and goes to Mexico. We took it last year, but this year SIL is coming. I know about the "eggshell" thing:sad2:

Mary, I Erica okay? Is she going to need any further treatment?

Mary- Sorry to hear about Erica! And good luck on the cruise...;)

Sheryl- I think DH is looking at maybe staying at the Wilderness Lodge, but we'll see. If we can't swing that, then maybe POR. SIL may go for the idea of staying longer if we stayed at a moderate rather than a deluxe, which is how we like to vacation anyway. Is it more expensive to rent points during peak season?

So here's the Sienna funny ha-ha of the day...
Since we are in training for our upcoming September trip (59 days! :cool1: ), I put in the WDW planning dvd. Chip and Dale came on the tv screen and DD pointed and said "Look, it's Chick and Deb!!" :lmao: :rotfl:

I have to admit, I was wiping at my moist eyes watching the dvd. I'm going to have to invest in kleenex before this trip for sure!

You're not a worrywart, you're a Mom:goodvibes How is she now?

On DVC points, you find the best rate being offered for rent at the time. Say that's 10 a point, then the amount of points you need vary, it will cost more points per night during peak season. Weekends (Fri. Sat.) also cost more points per night. So a Sun-Thurs trip cost the least amount of points, which means cheaper trip.

I have to tell y'all Alexis's funny but not so funny for the day. Her Mom brought over a whole bunch of new headbands, barrettes & hair clips. All very sparkly and blingy. She decides that she wants to wear a barrette, a headband & her very sparkly princess shoes. I tried hard to convince otherwise, but decided it just wasn't worth the fuss.

We are in the checkout line at the grocery. The girl bagging the groceries tells her "Wow don't you look pretty, with your shoes & headband!" Alexis looks at me, raises her eyebrows and says " Told ya! " Ugh!!! 5 going on 15 already!!

I can just see the look on her face when she said it.....:rotfl2:

Oh that is too cute! :cutie: :rotfl:

And we will be visiting Chick and Deb at Garden Grill in September. I think I'll let her call them Chick and Deb and see what happens!

Erica is doing fine. After the cyst burst, she was ready to go home, and she was very hungrypopcorn:: They had to run an IV in her, and I almost had to leave the room. I am a big chicken when it comes to things like that.

Lorie, I know Sienna will be excited to meet Chick and Deb. When David was little, he'd call them the "Chipp-a-munks".

Alexis is too funny with the stuff she comes up with

Lorie, if you make a scrapbook from the trip, make sure you write in Chick and Deb. You'll always remember it that way:)

hey prayers for your daughter and even though it sounds painful and serious, glad it wasn't more serious!

Prayers for Erica-my heart goes out to her.

Lorie, that is too cute about Chip(edit: sorry, CHICK!!!) and Deb:cutie: ! I just finally learned the difference b/t them!!!

Sheryl- I think that is so "girly" of Alexis to have said!!!! It's good you "let" her go like that to the store- picking our battles...:rolleyes1

Lori

Chick and Deb, that is too funny! I have a funny Chip and Dale story.

My first trip to WDW was at age 12, right after I found out I was accepted to Chapelle(mascot Chipmunks). Well in Toontown, I was overcome with excitment upon seeing these 5ft tall Chipmunks. So here I am a charging, 5'5, 180lb 12 y/o, running at these poor chipmunks. Needless to say I scared the acorns out of them and they started to run away!

Lorie, like you I am trying to brainwa...I mean acclimate, yeah acclimate :rolleyes1 the kids to the Disney characters, and stuff. So He has been watching Disney movies like Lilo & Stitch, Finding Nemo and "Little Chicken" :happytv: No matter how many times I tell Kurt jr that it is called Chicken Little, his proper English gets the better of him!:rotfl:

Another thing he did the other day:

We were driving to Walmart on Barataria & Lapalco, when all of a sudden a very excited Kurt jr starts screaming "It's Disney, we're at DISNEY!!!" He was pointing at the Jefferson Parish water tower! :lmao: I had to let him know that no, that was not Disney, but Mommy wishes it were!:wizard:

Lori, Past experience helped! DD went through the phase of wanting to have a certain shirt every single day. But at least her whims would change from week to week. On of her best friend's in preschool insisted on wearing a ballerina or very puffy princess dress all the time, even to school! And this was in pre-princess days, before princesses were cool!

Which video store is this?

Morning ladies!

It's Friendly Video in Mandeville.

Morning.

Sheryl that Alexis is too cute....told ya! :lmao:

Mary I'm glad to hear that Erica is better. It's so scary when our kids are sick but seems even worse when we are away from home.

Kurt Jr. has the right attitude. :thumbsup2 Water tower = Disney. Oh I wish it were that easy.

Morning Ladies.

How is everyone this morning?

Your stories are all too cute! :)

Mary am also happy that Erica is better.

Good morning NOLA!:goodvibes
