Why sure! I don't know what my drink is called, but it's a orange-pineapple-banana juice blend with rum. I would ordinarily use vodka, but that's running low and I need to save it for my Bloody Mary's.

I think I'll have a Margaretta, frozen, with salt.

You know, I try never to say anything I wouldn't want my Nanny (my Daddy's mother) to hear, but that thread really boiled my blood.

My son and DIL lost their home to Rita. People had enough hurt without anyone causing more with unkind words.

Sorry for your family's losses. I don't know why that thread was started other than to tick people off- she's just baiting us. Why kick people when they're down? I'll never understand how people could be so heartless (and clueless!).

I swear, every time I see a thread with "Katrina" or "New Orleans" in the title, I just cringe because I know the thread is going to go badly. And so many post as though they are experts- they have no idea of what really went on over here! My DH tells me to ignore those threads, but I can't look away- they're such trainwrecks!

Thanks. My children are doing great now. Living close to Lafayette, teaching school there and have a beautiful little son of their own.

I'll never forget the first time they were allowed back in Holly Beach. My sweet DIL came back crying, not for herself but for the elderly who had lost their homes and everything they had worked all their lives for. I know the story was the same with Katrina.

I so admire people like yourself who have dusted themselves off, re-built, and are living their lives with pride and dignity.

By the way, every time I see those pictures of your daughter it makes me smile. Mine is almost seventeen and I would love to have her be that age again.

I have responded to the nasty thread already. I could not help it.

I read some of the thread aloud to DH. At this point, we're laughing our heads off.

So let's see:
We all have some kind of special "mentality"

We're not resourceful and don't know how to use chainsaws. "Oh honey, if we only knew how to use chainsaws, our house would've never flooded and we would never be in this mess!"

We're all thieving looters.

We don't pay taxes. Oh wait, that was from the FEMA thread. Still a gem nonetheless.

We're all on welfare.

None of us left for the hurricane and were all the the Superdome/Convention Center.

We all got scads of money from FEMA.

We all knew exactly what would happens like days and days ahead of time.

That thread (and the FEMA one) is the biggest crock of BS I have ever read on the DIS. I've gone from offended to angry to sad to highly amused. Thanks for the entertainment!
