Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Sheryl- If I find a job somewhere else, I'm moving. If I can't find a job, then I'm stuck here in NYC for another year and I will have to find another apartment here. I really don't want that!

Hi Gang - My thoughts are with Angelina as well.

I had to go buy myself some reese's peanut butter eggs. O my I just love those. I have been rationing them off to myself though. I have to stay in control.

I want to go to disney too.....:hyper:

I've slipped a few times with the Reeses PB eggs too. They are just too delicious, I can't help myself.

Prayers for Angelina.

Hey ladies! Sorry I have been MIA!

How is everyone?

I am a little down, my 17 y/o dog-brother(my parents dog...but I was 9 when they got him) passed away this week. He was old and had a lot of health issues. The last straw was his eye, they wanted to remove it.

It was really hard telling Kurt jr, and I still don't think he got it. My step-mom said it really hit her when she fed her remaining 3 dogs dinner yesterday. 3 bowls instead of 4 :(

On the bright side, it is official, we got Free dining and our WDW trip is ON! Our dates are Sept 18th-Sept 26th. Right now I have Deluxe Dining and I am going to budget to see if it would be better for us to do free dining or deluxe. We love to eat at as many different places as possible(shocking a NOLA girl who like to eat ;) ) DH wants to do the Luau and I want to do the Hoop, so it looks like we will do both. My boys are really into Little Einsteins so I want to do the Character meal at Hollywood and Dine, plus Crystal Palace and maybe another...IDK

Info on T-Rex, is it scary Jurassic Park dinos or DAK cartoony dinos? Aiden freaks pretty easily, but I think Kurt jr would LOVE this place...we are planning to eat there the night we arrive.

Work has been very hectic. I am teaching 4 classes a week, doing the events, and birthday parties(oh yeah they took away the position of Event Coordinator, my old job, and kept the events and added birthday parties...so basically I am still doing my old job but for $.60 less an hour), and I work in Custom Framing on Sundays.

Ok well off to get ready for work. I will check in later.

Congrats on going to disney. :yay:

Good morning. I am just getting back from driving carpool.

Those dark chocolate heavenly hash eggs are sounding better and better.

Kristina, are you having a better day today?

Lori, I agree mostly with the dining opinions. I'll give you my .02 if your brain isn't on overload:

Columbia Harbor House--love this restaurant. Best tuna salad sandwich!

Tony's Town Square--this is a tradition for us to eat here.

T-Rex Cafe (in Downtown Disney)--I have to agree with rie's mom. The food was surprisingly good and the kids will have a great time there.

Cantina del San Angel (EPCOT) -- counter service across from Mexico. This was one of my husband's favorite meals last trip.

Chefs de France --this place is beautiful at night for dinner. The streetlights and fountain, such a gorgeous view from the restaurant. Get the profiteroles (ice cream stuffed pastries, with delicious chocolate sauce)for dessert. Those alone are worth going there, food is delicious too.

hey nothing too bad has happened today...so far. thanks all!

T-Rex - is it going to be on DDP soon?
always book San Angel Inn but never go. that CS acrss from it IS very good

ate at Chefs de France for lunch and got the glass window section. just totally cool to site there and great view

Hey Nola ladies... all this talk of WDW dining is making me hungry.. and hoping and praying they extend the free dining dates like they did last year... but none the less, I am glad to hear the reviews.

Well, one day of testing down, four more to go... I somewhat enjoy the change of pace, but the added stress of having a fourth grader this year is not making this a fun week for us. I saw him at lunch today, and his expression said it all... relief, it wasn't as bad as he thought it was going to be, but he said it was hard so we will see. I actually prefer to hear that it was hard because it usually means he will do well, it's when it is easy that I worry... thats when he brings home a D or F...

I hope that everyones headaches are better, this weather has been wild!

Prayers said for Angelina, I hope that things pan out in both the insurance area and the job area...

Chocolate!!!! I made DH go out and bring me a lot before he left out of town... thanks ladies, you made me think of it before I had to go drag three kids out to the store on a chocolate attack mission.

Hey guys, just wanted to quickly say Jezzie did so well under anesthesia today. :yay: Big sigh of relief. And she didn't need any teeth extracted.

I went ahead and microchipped her while she was zonked out. She's SO bad when I bring her, there's no way she'd let me do it while she was awake. So she's "official" now.

Here's my Piglet-esque dream from last night: We (a generic "we", you know how dreams are) were trying to catch a bird. The bird landed on a power line, but luckily it ran close to a second story window (again, a generic two story building, not my house, not my old house, just some random building). So we went upstairs and opened the window to try to reach out and get the bird. Well, Jezzie jumped out the window and landed on the power line. We didn't want to grab her b/c we didn't want to scare the bird away, so we called her to come back inside. She tried to jump back in the window, but it made the line swing and she fell. In slow motion. You know "Jeeeeeeee-zzzzzzzzeeeeeee. NNNNnnnnnnoooooooo!" So I was going to run downstairs to save her? check on her? But then I thought "well, I might as well get the bird." So I reached out the window, but the bird has turned into a rubberband (and this was ok with me). :confused3 So I spent some time untangling the rubberband from the powerline. Then I turned to go downstairs to save? rescue? mourn? Jezzie. Then my alarm went off. I didn't hit snooze today. That was enough of that madness. :upsidedow

I totally get the "jezzie falling" part. Anxiety over anesthesia, sure. But the bird? and a rubberband? :confused3:confused3

Oh, and my crocs came today. :woohoo:

LOL @ the "Piglet-esque" dream. :lmao:

I read through everything yesterday on my phone and meant to comment when I got home, but then I called somebody and ended up talking on the phone for about four hours or something crazy! :lmao: Now I don't remember what I was going to comment on. Oops!

So yesterday at work, we were reviewing polygons (all straight lines, corners meet - no "tails", no gaps) and so I was drawing some random lines and shapes and the were calling out "yes" or "no". About the 8th shape thing was a rough outline of Louisiana. I was expecting a "no" but instead get a "Louisiana's not a polygon!!!" :rotfl2: I draw New York and get a "Connecticut's not a polygon!!" I am thinking to myself at this point **uhhhh, HOW do they know Louisiana and not New York?** :lmao: So then I draw a rectangle and get "Colorado IS a polygon!....Wait, that could be Wyoming too!" *Now I'm thinking, dang...they're good!...(sometimes)* Then....one of the best questions EVER: "Is Mississippi a polygon?!?" :rotfl:

The city or state or somebody is visiting the After School program today. So yesterday the site coordinator or somebody important that I've never seen before stopped by. She said she was just going to look around but before she did she asked me a couple of questions and she ended up NOT even bothering to look around, she just was like "oh, we are SO bringing the DOE in this room!" and she wrote down some notes and then walked out. :scared: Great. I shoulda just let them all run around like wild animals and maybe I could have avoided the big wigs LOL. :lmao:

The cops were here yesterday...when I woke up first at 5, when I was getting ready at 6:15, when I left at 7, when I got home at 6:30 (at this point, there was a VAN full of officers leaving, another 4 outside, and at least 2 more inside the building still), then later - like at 10 or so, there were about 8 undercover people, I think from DEA. I don't know if they were there the entire day or were coming and going but clearly something important is/was going on...I suspect serious drug activity of some sort. :scared:

Okay gotta go...hopefully today is another decent day. Although two in a row could really be pushing things.

Good morning.

Jwhitewolfd, I am glad Jezzy did ok. I think I would have hit the snooze bar too:lmao:

lori, I'm glad you posted the pictures. That's a lot of cool stuff.

portocall, sorry to give you the "chocolate bug":rotfl:

I love all the planning (dining, accommodations, etc.) of trips too. Especially Disney trips. I even like when they put you on hold and you get to hear the Disney music.:goodvibes

Good Morning NOLA.

Stephanie so sorry about the dog.

Robin have a great trip. Can't wait to hear all about it when you return.

It looks like we are in for another rainy day. Not raining yet in Mandeville but I think the South Shore is getting it. Be careful everyone.

Morning Y'all!

:grouphug: I appreciate you girls so much! All the prayers for Angelina brings tears to my eyes! :lovestruc

Stephanie, So sorry about your dog! It is hard to tell the little ones about it. Kurt jr probably understands more than you realize. Our Smokey has been gone almost 3 yrs & Alexis still talks about him and misses him.

Your job sounds tough right now! The same responsibilities with less pay? At least you have the trip to look forward to!!!:wizard:

jwhtewolfd, Glad Jezzy did well! I hope you don't have anymore Piglet-esque type dreams!

Bethany, Your stories crack me up! :lmao: Next time VIP's come strolling through you'll know not to be such a good teacher & let the kiddos run wild!

Lorie, That pie sounds scrumptious! I want one!

Lori, Cool neat FREE stuff! :goodvibes

Y'all be safe out there today! It has been raining on & off over here, but nothing bad.

Yesterday Alexis was all stressed out & crying about kindergarten Career Day coming up on Friday. They want them to dress up & talk about what they want to be when they grow up, BUT they want it to be a professional or community helper type job. She was sad because she doesn't want to do any of those kinds of jobs! She wants to be a Singer/Chef or an artist or a Magician when she grows up! I couldn't even calm her down. When Chris came home, she finally calmed her down & has convinced her to "act" like she wants to be a teacher. She is interested in planets right now, so Chris told her they'd make a poster of the solar system & she could dress like a grown up & wear lipstick. That worked!

Hey everybody. Hope y'all are making through the weather OK. High winds & hail here while I was @ school with the kids. They had a shelter in place order, so I was stuck there 'til the line blew through.

Umm...since when is a chef NOT a professional / community helper? That teacher complains & I'll personally dig up articles on Emeril and John Besh as only one example of the chefs that give back. Tell A she can be whatever she wants (and BOOO to that teacher). She needs to make her instructions more specific if she only wants the stereotypical teachers / fireman / cops / nurses / doctors etc. OK - rant over.

Alexis' teacher sure gets the Momma Bears growling doesn't she? I think she made everyone PO'd about this!

I tried to convince to be a chef, but she didn't like the "just chef" idea, Alexis wanted to be a SINGER/chef!

cajunmommy I'm glad you are okay! We had high winds & some rain, but nothing too bad.

Angelina found out this morning that everything is finally set for her surgery tomorrow morning. The HR dept apparently went to bat for her, least they can do after laying her off. :rolleyes1
