Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Good morning ya'll:goodvibes

Sorry I haven't written in a while. I need to go back a few pages and catch up. I ended up having to go back to the dr. for my respiratory problems. I think its under control now. I hope.

Yesterday, DS got his drivers license. He is driving to school today. I told him to call me as soon as he got there to let me know he made it okay.

I sure hope you start feeling better. Oh, how I remember those first few days that Kyle drove, I was a wreck. I still worry, daily.....

Oh Mary I know what you are going through. Kelsie's had her license almost a year now. Every morning when she leaves for school I say a little prayer and every evening I happen to look at the clock around the time school lets out and I pray again. I don't think the worrying is getting any less as time passes. I guess as a mother that's our job to worry.

I'm glad to hear your respiratory problems are getting better.

Okay , David just called. He made it to school okay. Thank you,

Lord:worship:

Tricia, that chocolate-eating smilie is hilarious.

Sheryl, for Angelina.

Kat, I hope everything goes through with the house sale. Prayers for you.

Terry, if you like white chocolate, here's a heads up. Reese's peanut butter eggs has white chocolate ones this Easter. I bought some of those and the regular milk chocolate kind.:thumbsup2

The though of dark chocolate heavenly hash has my mouth watering this morning.

Mornin!:surfweb:I don't HAVE a coffe or tea in my hand while I type, but I want an Exxon Cappucino.....this is the only cappucino/coffe I will drink, and this is probably b/c it is very FAR from coffee/cappucino and full of fat and sugar.:)

Anyway.... I LOVE LOVE LOVE dark chocolate, not so much white chocolate though.

If you see my ticker, it doesn't have what I WROTE below it. It had it the 1st day and then automatically changed:confused3. I put "Our POSSIBLE Disney with free dining trip"... now how does THAT happen??

I have been looking at restaurants!!! It gets me excited for the trip! Maybe TOO excited that if we do not go I will be that much more upset about it.....

We will do no more than ONE meal that takes more than 1 credit, IF that. DH wants to stick with some of our "normal" places we eat, like Rainforest Cafe, which is not on DDP. So that will give us 1 day with 2 TS credits, OR a day we can eat out TS 2x, or buy a dinner for someone.

I will list the places we are thinking of(or that I am thinking of since my kids have NO clue) and get your opinions..... in my next post. This is planning day for our next science class(no more astronomy-finished the WHOLE book!) and last day of co-op.:teacher:

Our Mega Fest is Friday which the girls are looking forward too.

DH is spinning right now, as usual!!:thumbsup2

Morning Y'all,

:grouphug: Thanks for all the prayers for DD & DH! The aide did show up last night & DH was as comfortable with her as he could be in that situation. We'll see if she comes back on Thurs.

Mary,Prayers that you will feel better soon & prayers for the safety of your new driver! :flower3::hug: I'm very glad David made it to school!:worship:

Elmer's Dark Chocolate Gold Brick!!! :scared1: Oh man am I in trrrouble!;)

Bethany, I hope this morning is going better than yesterday's!

rant ahead....

screen door broke yesterday - the springy thing that keeps the door closed at the bottom broke

ran into a wooden telephone pole here at the complex...didn't even hit it that hard but it looks terrible....and has these brown marks from the pole...of course I cant put it on insurance so guess I will just pay it myself...sigh:sad2:

another friend's husband suddenly lost his job today...I am so sad for them.

Hey y'all!

Just wanted to say a quick "hi"! I got a nasty little migraine with this nasty little weather change and DH was off two whole days in a row(!), so I've been MIA because of that- I've got a bunch to read back and catch up on!

Prayers and good thoughts to all those who need them! And congrats to the cheerleaders and gymnast!

I posted some new pics on my facebook page (which some of you have already commented on- wow, y'all are fast! :rotfl:), one of which was so cute that I had to use it for my sig pic down below. DD was on her swingset yesterday with her Mickey ears on, and was singing "I'm just a little black rain cloud (from Winnie the Pooh)- it was so darn cute that I had to take a picture. :lovestruc It makes all of those struggles I've been having with her just kind of melt away!

Sorry about the migraine. LOVE the pics of Sienna, she is too darn cute!:cloud9:

I love planning the dining!:yay:

Okay, then you can help me, planning dining has never been a big deal for us b/c we tend to only go out to eat like 2x per trip(with exception of last Feb)!! I have never planned my trip around eating! Eating is just something we HAVE to do in Disney;).

SO, since we get to go out like SIX times for table service(6 nights, so is it 6 or 7?)-woohoo!

These are the places I am looking at (but need to pick one per park for 5 days, I guess)and if there is a * by it, that means we have been before and like it(but would be open to changing it if necessary!) and if I have a :thumbsup2, that means I want it and not gonna change.............

Table Service:
MK:
Liberty Tree Tavern
Tony's Town Square

EPCOT:
L'Originale Alfredo di Ristorante
Les Chefs De France*
Coral Reef(haven't been with kids here)
The Garden Grill
Le Cellier
Tepan Edo(sp?)

Disney Studios:
Mama Melroses
Sci Fi Dine In*(possibly :thumbsup2-kids love it)

AK:
suggestions open but not necessary, b/c we LOVE Rainforest Cafe on the way out here.

Counter service ideas next!

Lori

oh, I forgot important ones that we'd like to try in the resorts:

Boma
1900 Park Fare(wicked step mom thing??)
Kona or Ohana
Whispering Canyon cafe*

I'd LOVE to do 1 of these!

SEE, I so need help, we only have 6 to do!!

Lori

Counter service:
I will give you 2 and you can pick which ONE is better!! How's that sound? I am putting you to work!

MK:
Columbia Harbour House
Pinocchio Village Haus

EPCOT:
Yorkshire County Fish Shop:thumbsup2(we just like the heart healthy food here:lmao:)
Boulangerie Patisserie(maybe we'll do a snack there)

DS:
Backlot Express
Toy Story Pizza Planet(the kids are asking for this, but we can get food from the other one!)

AK:
Flame Tree BBQ(I hear a lot about this one!)
Tusker House
Restaurantosaurus

DD:
Earl of Sandwich*
Wolfgand Puck Express

Lori

PS Did I name EVERYTHING??? I am overwhelmed to be honest! What to do,where to go???

PM me for more details if you'd like but of the ones you listed:

Alfredo's in EPCOT ain't there no more....replaced by highly priced Tutto Italia.
Le Cellier has been excellent the two times we tried it, one of the best 1 TS credits.
Haven't been but Teppan gets very good reviews, the kids would love it!

Resorts -

Can highly recommend Ohana and BOMA. BOMA, we've only been to for breakfast but we thought it was the best breakfast EVER at WDW! Ohana far surpasses KONA in our opinion. We had two years in a row that KONA was our worst meal of the trip. Ohana on the other hand is fun and the food is very good!

Lori

MK- definitely Tony's

The Liberty Tree quality has bit the dust. Some of the food was inedible=think Golden Corral or Piccadilly on a bad day.

EPCOT:
L'Originale Alfredo di Ristorante is now under new management and called Tutto Italia The food is still good.

Les Chefs De France* YES!!! The escargots is deilicious as is the steak.

Coral Reef(haven't been with kids here) Great food and great atmosphere

The Garden Grill ????never been

Le Cellier IMO, Les Chefs has better food. If it's a toss up, pass on this.

Tepan Edo(sp?) ????never been

Disney Studios:
Mama Melroses
Sci Fi Dine In*(possibly :thumbsup2-kids love it) My daughter's favorite. The Shrimp Penne was very good.

AK:
suggestions open but not necessary, b/c we LOVE Rainforest Cafe on the way out here.

Counter service ideas!

MK
Pecos Bills has good hamburgers. If you plan your day and have a late lunch-2:15 or so. Take the food to the porch outside in front of the candy shop and wait for the parade. One of you scoot up to where the ropes will go to save places for the parade if you want to see it.

Epcot
We LOVE the Cantina del San Angel across from the Mexican Pavilion. Some of the best food at Disney World-much, MUCH better than the table service food at the restaurant onside the pyramid.

Hollywood Studios
nothing here stands out to us

Ak
Flame Tree has fabulous BBQ sandwiches. You order the sandwich and then get the BBQ sauce at the condiments bar. The onions rings OMG are soooo good.
Pizzafari has very good pizza. My daughter and her friends like the sandwiches.

DTD
Earl of Sandwich has a HUGE assortment of sandwiches. We haven't had a bad one yet. Go before the crowds build because there are never enough tables.

T-Rex Cafe was a highlight of our Thanksgiving trip. The food was very good and the setting is so over the top and lots of fun!!

OK, again, PM me for more details:

MK - Columbia Harbour House
DS - Backlot - Excellent turkey sandwich
EPCOT - can't choose between the two, don't like either....Sunshine Seasons is our choice.
AK - Flame tree was a huge disappointment for us, can't really recommend anything.
DTD - Wolfgang's by a mile.....LOVE it!!!!

Lori- It is so hard for me do pick the dining too! I love many on your list, and it is so hard to choose! You do get six TS credits.

In my opinion:
MK- We really like LTT for lunch- the items we got were very good, especially the desserts! :thumbsup2 Ever since they got rid of the characters, I don't think the dinner is worth it.

Epcot= Just too dang hard to choose, I tell ya. We've gone to Coral Reef twice and really liked it. Granted, the food is good, but I've never been completely wowed by what I've gotten (DH disagrees- he still drools over the mahi-mahi he got last time). The atmosphere is what brings me back there because I love watching the fish tank!

Le Cellier is also good, but I liked it better when I went there years ago (2001). The last time we went in 2007, it was good, but I think it lost some us its luster- I didn't get what the worship was all about (JMO).

Garden Grill- Comfort food that is just okay, but we've gone often because DD LOVES Chip and Dale. Gotta take one for the team sometimes. And the rotating restaurant is really cool.

MGM- I see you made your choice, so you seem all set for that!

AK- We really like Tusker House for breakfast. Good buffet with the classic characters in safari gear. It forces us to get up early, which is good because We find that we like to get AK started and ended on the early side (it gets too hot and crowded in the afternoon!).

As for your extras- We had a really nice dinner at Kona, but that could have been the lapu lapus talking! While it was good, I don't have the burning desire to have to go back next time, so we're trying Ohana next time instead. We're also trying Whispering Canyon Cafe next time as well because it looks like lots of fun! We're also going to try 1900 Park Fare for dinner (maybe next time or the trip after that) because DD loves Cinderella and those step-sisters are a HOOT! We ran into them in the MK on our trip before last and they were absolutely hysterical!

I'm probably no help here...:rotfl: I always make and change my ADRs at least twice before every trip, and finally just settle for what I manage to get the best times for!

Counter service:
MK- Columbia Harbor House. It's just nuggets and sandwiches, but it is a tradition for us our first meal of the trip there. Make sure you go upstairs where it is quiet and you can get a nice window view of the people walking through Liberty Square.

Epcot: We like Sunshine Seasons (best desserts!), Tangeriene (sp?) Cafe, and Cantina del San Angel for CS, and Boulangerie Patisserie for a snack :thumbsup2.

MGM- Backlot Express- they have a delicious grilled turkey sandwich there which is a nice change from the usual fare.

AK- We never eat CS here because we always have Tusker House breakfast (which is now a TS)

DTD- Wolfgang Pucks....or if you're dying to do Rainforest Cafe there is one here as well (oop, of course)
