Memories of the DREAM come true ….. 08/09 All 30 days done!

I ordered the brussel sprouts at Kouzzina, the only time I went there !!I shared with Jordan and Winkers and we all loved them !!I really want to try there for breakfast too !!

And yet I have never been to either. :rotfl:

I do have an ADR at Via Napoli... but I am going to have to cancel it. (it is for like a 6:30 dinner... that is too close to when the race is (I think) I know the other room booked an ADR there too... at a better time. However, dd is really now wanting to go to Kona and I don't have an ADR there...so she wants to drop Via Napoli entirely. After my trip next week is over I think I will be able to focus on getting plans for the fall trip in place better.

We used to like Kona a lot, but we had a few really long waits for ADRs (one was nearly 90 minutes! :scared1:) and I guess we will not return in the very near future.
But I can totally understand that if Kira wants to eat there, you will have to get your ADRs changed. Thank god, Kona is not such a hot ticket. :thumbsup2

The Brussel sprouts are just awesome there. We always order them. :lmao: We haven't had breakfast there either yet, I usually hold a ressie every year, but somehow getting up in the morning is easier said than done. :rotfl2:

Breakfast at kouzzina is amazing! Favorite in the world for me at the moment

So, I am now on day 14... I think. I just read you went to the queen's staircase! We went to Nassau on our honeymoon and we went to the queen's staircase... we have a picture of me ascending the stairs and the waterfall next to the stairs flowing... it was BEAUTIFUL! I don't remember it looking anything like your pictures, sadly. Maybe I can find our pictures, scan them and post them so you can see what the queen's staircase actually looks like.... but.. honestly, that sounds like a lot of work.. so you probably won't get to see the pictures. :rotfl:
Although, we also did a "Pirate tour" where we went to the Caribbean Pirate museum, the queen's staircase and Fort Charolette, which is on the other end of the island. We also went to the Rum Cake Factory and the Strawmarket.
My parents had gone to the Keys for their honeymoon and they had told us that down there they eat alot of Conch- so we should try to have some... and we had fried conch fritters... not that great.

We dined at Kouzzina's when it first opened. DH really liked it, but me, not so much. I loved the bread, but my steak was so salty, didn't even taste like steak. DH liked his fisherman's stew, thought it was very tasty.

My family just returned from a cruise to the bahamas via the Carnival Sensation. After being on the Disney Dream in Sept with my dh. We weren't impressed at all. As soon as we were home we started looking at dates for the Disney Fantasy but none worked out for us in 2013 and we didn't want to wait til 2014 to return to DCL. So now we have 2 cruises planned on the Disney Dream for 2013. Just me and DH in Jan 2013 and all of us in Nov 2013 after a few days at wdw then the cruise and back to wdw. DCL is just so over the top nice. No other cruise line will do for us.

I guess we will have to fit in a breakfast there then! ;) Thank god we will have internet, so we can make those reservations on short notice. :thumbsup2

The Greek breakfast has my eye !!!:cloud9:

I just checked the menu and there are several things that have me longing! :rotfl2:

We had seen photos of the staircase previously and even looked down the way we did in 2009, but it was heartbreaking seeing it after the storm.

As for the Conch Fritters - we tried some in a restaurant in Key West and they were not all that great - then we tried some from some street vendors and they were absolutely great - don't know what they did to them, but they were really tasty.

I know there were a lot of reviews that found it too salty, but we have never had that problem.
Tom had the Fisherman's Stew too one of our visits and he loved it very much. :thumbsup2

We did talk about trying another cruise line, but I am too afraid I won't enjoy it, if it doesn't have a Mickey icon. ;) :lmao:
Glad you got back to Disney and that you get to cruise twice next year! :woohoo:

Day 22, September 3

We still have money to spend? - Part 1

We woke up around 7am and decided to head over to the Disney Hollywood Studios for the morning. Tom fixed some breakfast while I was in the shower and we then had a nice breakfast out on the veranda.

IMG_2304.jpg

By 8.30 we were on our way over to the Studios. For once we were lucky with parking and were directed to a spot in the first third towards the tram. We took our stuff out of the trunk and joined the crowd waiting for the tram. One had just pulled out and you could not see another one approaching, so we decided to skip the rush at the main bag check and just walk to the entrance. We arrived at the turnstiles just after 9am and the street up to the sorcerer’s hat was crowded.

IMG_2306.jpg

Once we arrived at the tip board we headed over to the Tower of Terror. We picked up a Fastpass before we got in line, which was a 13 minute wait and a walk on in real life.

IMG_2307.jpg

IMG_2308.jpg

The ride was as fun as always and once we got off we got right back into the line.

IMG_2311.jpg

IMG_2315.jpg

Again it was a walk on and we were seated on the ride within 10 minutes. When we walked by the entrance again, we thought about getting in line for a third time, but the line was considerably longer now. There was a little time left until our Fast Pass would kick in, so we walked over to Rock’n’Rollercoaster, but it was down, so we walked down the street again and checked out the stores to the left and right. We walked toward the Great Movie Ride, 10 minute wait, perfect, but once inside the line looked much longer than that, so we left again. We then walked towards Star Tours, as we had not done that in a long time and the ride had just been refurbished. We picked up another Fast Pass,

before we headed back to Tower of Terror

to use up our Fast Passes. By this time the regular line had grown a bit and was now about 15 – 20 minutes long, but we just breezed by and walked right into the hotel and the library. There was a bit of a wait in the boiler room, but not very long before we were on another elevator ride. Once we got off we just walked around, waited for a minute or two for our second Fast Pass to kick in and got into the Fast Pass line again.
Again, another fun ride and we could not believe we had been able to ride it four times in one morning. There was a little time left until we were able to ride Star Tours, so we stopped and had a look around the shops, picked up some bits and pieces and finally headed over to Star Tours. The regular line was out the door and using the Fast Pass line we were able to walk up quite a bit.

IMG_2320.jpg

We were stopped in a smaller room right before you are assigned a Star Speeder. The line moved at a steady pace and within a few minutes we were in line to ride Star Tours. Star Tours was one of the rides we did not care for much until we took a tour at Disneyland Paris and saw how it worked.
Ever since we have tried to ride it at least once. This time we were seated in row one and since it was the first time we rode the new version it was pretty fun. After we got off the ride we decided to head out of the park and do some shopping as the crowds had picked up considerably and looking at the tip board it didn’t look like there was anything to ride in a short amount of time.

IMG_2324.jpg

We made one more stop at the sweet shop that is inside the Villains Store to pick up a

Carrot Cake Cookie and a

Cake Pop. We had both of them boxed up and took them with us. Right when we were on our way out we saw some performers from Disney Channel Live

IMG_2322.jpg

coming towards us and stayed to watch a little bit of their performance. But after a little while we were on our way towards the exit. We waited a little while for the tram and rode back to our car.

To be continued ..........

Four times for ToT !!Pretty impressive !!!! Can you check out the line without riding as I may like to do that??????

Mmmmn! I love that carrot cake cookie although it is too huge! ToT x4, nicely done!!!!!

The later in September we went the less crowds we encountered. It was really fun.
And YES, you can check out the line without riding, there is a "chicken exit" and it is so worth it, to check out the queue, Rosie.
Same goes for RnRC and EE - well about every ride at Disney has that "chicken exit" and the queue areas are just awesome! :thumbsup2

Mmmmn! I love that carrot cake cookie although it is too huge! ToT x4, nicely done!!!!!

That carrot cake cookie is SOOOO good, isn't it? But because of its size we always take it home and then I enjoy it over a few days - very economical treat. :rotfl2:

Karin - Love those carrot cake cookies. My daughter introduced me to them last year and oh sweet heaven are they good! I need to have one for breakfast now whenever we are at DHS. We usually get them at Writer's Stop because our daughter's love that little shop.

Oooooo, I wish I could have one of those cookies right now!

One year when I took Paige as a child she road ToT basically 7 times in a row. :crazy2: We took turns with her and I swear I was getting sick and she wanted to ride it over and over...so finally we said we had to stop. :rotfl:

KARIN  I've been a horrible DISfriend. I recently got a job (about 3 months ago) and spend so much time on the computer there that it's hard to jump on when I get home. I'm so sorry :(

I just want you to know that I'm still thinking of you. Sucks we missed each other in February! But we're definitely confirmed for Aug 2013 so I hope I'll be able to see you then. It might even be a Disneymoon :upsidedow I'll keep you updated on that.

Every time I see a plane from Lufthansa, I think of you :flower3:

Karin, we love TOT & ride it again & again. Of course when we go the crowd levels are so light Fast Passes are not needed.:goodvibes

In 2006 when we were waiting to ride TOT, Disney was doing some filming in there. I guess it was a commercial for the parks.

Our trip to AKL is getting closer also! I think it's 2 months or less. :thumbsup2

I will take advantage of those chicken exits!!!!!

All the lines are so much fun - no need to miss that, just leave before you have to get on the ride! You will not regret it (getting in line, not, not getting on the ride :rotfl2:)

They are so good. I saw them first here on the DISboards and then we were on the hunt for one. ;)
Needless to say I fell in love with them and was delighted to find them at the little Villains bakery too! :thumbsup2

I promise to have one for you too! :lmao:

Ah, blame it on the child that she wants to ride ToT so often. :rotfl2: Just kidding, Jen. ;)
There used to be years when we would just walk around and ride again and again - sometimes even have an elevator to ourselves, but since the times we travel in are always a bit more busy, those non line days don't come around to often. ;)

NO Yuki, you haven't been a horrible DISfriend. It is just that real life gets in the way sometimes and it happens to all of us.
I am so happy to see you back. We VERY often talk about you and Andrew. It was such fun meeting you.
Oh, and maybe a Disneymoon in August 2013!!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: What time frame are you looking at? We will be at WDW for 2 weeks starting on Aug 24th following our back to back Caribbean cruises on the Fantasy. We would SO love to see you again. pixiedust:

Ah, how I wish we could stay a little longer into September when the crowds subside - unfortunately it will NOT be happening for some time yet.

Such a shame that we will be missing you this summer and while you will wish the time to fly by, Tom and I are hoping for it to just crawl VERY slowly. :rotfl2:

We'll be there for 2 weeks in Mid-august, so I'm sure our days will overlap!

Andrew really loved meeting you guys too. He automatically knows who I'm talking about when I bring up "Karin", haha. Actually, I think you convinced him that I wasn't crazy for meeting people I met on the DIS :thumbsup2

I'm working on getting caught up on this TR. I just love your reports :lovestruc
