Has anyone gone to Disney during Memorial Day weekend?
How crowded was it? How about at the hotels? Poly?
Was hoping on going around that time and trying to decide when was good. Any help at all would be wonderful.
Thank you.

Hi -

We went last year over Memorial Day weekend and found it to be a fantastic experience. It was much better weather than what I previously experienced in July. It was warm but not hot, and it didn't rain every day. The crowds were less than what I had expected for a holiday weekend. I think that as long as you get to the parks early and take advantage of fast pass, you are fine no matter what the crowds. The most crowded park we encountered (including all Disney parks and universal parks) was Blizzard Beach.... it was very crowded the Tuesday after Memorial Day Monday. On that same day, we went to MGM in the morning and were shocked that by 9:45 a.m. or so, there were very long waits for the rides.

On the Sunday of that weekend we arrived at the MK right at opening and from 9 a.m. until about 11:30 or 12 we were able to ride MANY rides with little to no waits. By 11:30 the park was filling up. By 1:00 p.m. it was very crowded. Again - get there at park openings and head for the "big" rides and I think you will have no problem.

We are going again this year for MDW..... enjoy!

We are arriving on Memorial Day for 8 nights. I was wondering the same thing about the crowds. We have never gone in late May/early June before. Always been in September and December. I have some physical limitations and have really been worried that the lines will be really long and present me with more physical challenges than I can handle.

BTW we are staying at AKL. Overflow rate from SOG since Contem. is totally full at that time, too.

I wonder if the lesser crowds last year were due to the lower attendance in general...My husband and I went over MDW in 2001 and it was a mob scene... Lots of people at Magic Kingdom especially. But again, this was pre- 9/11 and everything was different then. We still had a great time, but mainly because we hit the pools when the parks got full! Besides we like a bit of a crowd.. just enough to make it fun!

(We went in Jan. once and it was like a ghost town.... not my cup of tea)

Have a wonderful time!

We were there last year on Memorial Weekend and it was crowded. Epcot and MGM weren't to bad but by the mid afternoon on Sunday MK was so crowded and the lines so long we decided to leave. Best to get to the parks early and take advantage of fast pass.
